Rossmax Z5 Automatic Bluetooth Blood Pressure Monitor

Introduction

The Rossmax Z5 Blood Pressure Monitor is designed for adult home use, providing measurements equivalent to those obtained by a trained observer using the cuff/stethoscope auscultation method. It is protected by an international warranty program. Please read this manual carefully before use and consult your physician for specific information regarding your blood pressure.

Key Technologies

PARR (Pulse Arrhythmia) Technology

This technology specifically detects pulse arrhythmia, including Atrial Fibrillation (AFib) and Premature Contractions (PC). Early detection of these conditions is crucial as they may be related to cardiac disorders. PARR technology detects these during regular blood pressure checks without user intervention or prolonging the measurement time. Note: PARR provides a clinically proven high detection probability but has limitations and may not detect all pulse arrhythmias, which could require an ECG diagnosis.

Atrial Fibrillation Detection (AFib)

Atrial Fibrillation (AFib) is a condition where the upper chambers of the heart quiver, leading to irregular and less efficient blood flow. This is often associated with a fast, unstable heart rate and increases the risk of blood clots and strokes. The Z5 can detect AFib, indicated by the ARR and AFib icons ( ? ) on the display. If these icons appear frequently, consult a physician. A cardiac pacemaker may affect AFib detection.

Premature Contraction Detection (PC)

Premature Contractions (PC) are extra, abnormal heartbeats originating outside the normal electrical pathways of the heart. They can disrupt the regular rhythm, causing palpitations. If not related to stress or exertion, they may indicate underlying cardiac disorders, including an increased risk of ischemic events or stroke. The Z5 detects PCs, indicated by the ARR and PC icons ( ? ) on the display. Frequent appearance of these icons warrants medical consultation. A cardiac pacemaker may affect PC detection.

Pulse Arrhythmia Detection (ARR)

The ARR icon is displayed when any pulse arrhythmia is detected during a blood pressure measurement. If PARR can specify the type of arrhythmia, it will be accompanied by AFib or PC icons. If the type cannot be determined, only ARR is shown. Frequent ARR indications, regardless of specific type, require medical attention.

Real Fuzzy Measuring Technology

This device uses the oscillometric method for blood pressure measurement. It establishes a baseline cuff pressure and automatically determines the appropriate inflation level based on pressure oscillations, followed by deflation to determine systolic pressure, diastolic pressure, and pulse rate.

Measurement Procedures

For accurate readings, follow these guidelines:

  • Sit quietly for at least 5 minutes before measurement.
  • Avoid measuring after exercise, bathing, eating, drinking alcohol/caffeine, or smoking for at least one hour.
  • Do not measure when stressed or tired.
  • Sit upright, breathe deeply, and keep feet flat on the floor.
  • Do not talk or move during measurement.
  • Ensure normal body temperature.
  • Wait 5 minutes between measurements.

To take a measurement:

  1. Select user memory zone (1, 2, or Guest mode) using the User-Switching key.
  2. Press ON/OFF/START. The display will check all functions.
  3. The monitor is ready when '0' blinks. It will automatically inflate the cuff.
  4. After measurement, pressure is released, and results (systolic, diastolic, pulse) are displayed and stored.
  5. Bluetooth data is transferred automatically if paired.

Note: The monitor auto-shuts off after 1 minute of inactivity. Press ON/OFF/START to interrupt inflation.

Memory Recall and Deletion

Recalling Values from Memory

The monitor has two memory zones (1 and 2), each storing up to 60 measurements. Use the User-Switching key to select a zone. Press the Memory key to view the average of morning readings (last 7 days), then nighttime readings (last 7 days), then the average of the last 3 measurements, and finally individual readings.

Deleting Values from Memory

Select the memory zone (1 or 2) using the User-Switching key. Press and hold the Memory key for approximately 5 seconds to automatically erase data in the selected zone.

Time and Bluetooth Settings

To adjust date, time, and Bluetooth settings:

  1. Hold ON/OFF/START for 5 seconds in power-off mode. The year will blink.
  2. Use the Memory key to change the year and ON/OFF/START to confirm.
  3. Adjust date, hours, and minutes similarly.
  4. After setting time/date, the Bluetooth symbol (?) and an icon will blink. Use the Memory key to enable (?+) or disable (?-) automatic Bluetooth transfer and confirm with ON/OFF/START.
  5. Press ON/OFF/START again to be ready for measurement.

Data Transfer via Bluetooth

Pairing with Smartphone

Download the free 'Healthstyle' app from your smartphone's app store. Visit www.rossmax.com for detailed setup instructions. Turn on the monitor's Bluetooth, open the app, and follow the on-screen pairing instructions. A successful pairing shows the Bluetooth symbol (?) on the display. Measured values will transfer automatically to the app. If pairing fails, the Bluetooth symbol will not appear, and values will be saved in the monitor's memory. Re-pair if necessary. Note: Unpairing does not delete app data. Bluetooth transfer may reduce battery life.

Safety Precautions

  • Avoid extreme temperatures, humidity, and direct sunlight. Protect from dust and avoid dropping.
  • Clean with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals, thinners, alcohol, or gasoline.
  • Keep out of reach of children.
  • Allow the device to acclimate to room temperature if stored in cold conditions.
  • This unit is not field serviceable. Contact dealer or Rossmax International Ltd. for issues.
  • The device may have difficulty measuring accurately for users with diabetes, poor circulation, kidney problems, or those who have had a stroke or are unconscious.
  • The device can detect common arrhythmias (AFib, PC). If detected, repeat measurement later. Consult a physician if icons appear frequently.
  • Measurement accuracy may be impaired by pulse arrhythmia.
  • Press ON/OFF/START to stop measurement and deflate cuff.
  • Inflation stops and deflates rapidly if pressure reaches 300 mmHg for safety.
  • This device is for home healthcare and not a substitute for professional medical advice.
  • Do not use for diagnosis or treatment of health problems. Consult a healthcare professional for interpretation of results.
  • Avoid strong electrical or electromagnetic fields (e.g., mobile phones, microwaves) or interference from broadcast antennas.
  • Dispose of the device, batteries, and components according to local regulations.
  • Do not use outside specified temperature and humidity ranges.
  • Do not allow sustained pressure in the cuff or frequent measurements, as this can restrict blood flow and cause injury.
  • Ensure cuff is not placed on an arm undergoing medical treatment (e.g., IV access, AV shunt).
  • Do not apply cuff on the side of a mastectomy.
  • Do not place cuff over wounds.
