Rossmax HC700 Non-Contact Temple Thermometer User Manual

Introduction

The Rossmax HC700 non-contact temple thermometer uses an infrared detector to detect body temperature from the temple for adults and children in hospitals, homes, or public places. This thermometer can also detect object temperature.

The quality of the infrared temple temperature thermometer has been verified and conforms to the provisions of the EC council directive 93/42/EEC (Medical Device Directive) Annex I essential requirements and applied harmonized standards. It complies with ASTM E1965-98(2016).

This thermometer converts the temple temperature to display its “oral equivalent” (according to the result of the clinical evaluation).

Please read the instruction manual carefully before using the product and be sure to keep this manual.

Function

Temple Temperature

The thermometer has been designed for practical use. It’s not meant to replace a visit to the doctor. Please also remember to compare the measurement result to your regular body temperature.

Object Mode

The object mode shows the actual, unadjusted surface temperatures, which is different from the body temperature. It can help you to measure any object other than body surface, for example, the baby’s milk.

Fever Alarm

If the thermometer detects a body temperature ≥37.5°C (99.5°F), there will be four beeps sound with flashing reading to warn the user for potential fever.

Setting Your Thermometer

  1. Open the battery cover.
  2. Press the “ON/OFF/Memory” button to power on the device.
  3. Enter the setting mode by pressing the [mode selection button] to switch between Temple/Object temperature, Celsius/Fahrenheit scale, and adjust Bluetooth and beep sound in order.
  4. Change the measuring target between the temple and object by pressing the [target selection button]. After setting a new measuring target, the measuring site icon on the display will also be switched accordingly.
  5. Change the °C and °F by pressing the [scale selection button] again to enter the setting mode. Press the [scale adjustment button] to switch the corresponding measuring scale. The measuring site icon on the display will also be switched accordingly after a new measuring scale is set.
  6. After adjusting the measuring target and scale, press the [next setting button] again to move to the next setting of Bluetooth and beep sound.
  7. Adjust Bluetooth and beep sound as described above, using the [Bluetooth/beep setting button] to choose whether automatic Bluetooth data transfer and beep sound is activated (Bluetooth symbol [Bluetooth icon] ON) or deactivated (Bluetooth symbol [Bluetooth icon] OFF).
  8. Your thermometer is ready for measurement after all symbols appear or pressing the ON/OFF/Memory button again.

The initial setting is Temple temperature mode, Celsius scale, Bluetooth and beep sound activated as default.

How to Measure Temple Temperature

  1. Always make sure the probe is clean and without damage.
  2. Press the “ON/OFF/Memory” button to turn on the device.
  3. Make sure the measuring site icon is shown on the display before taking measurement.
  4. Vertically aim the thermometer at the temple with a distance of less than 10 cm (3.94 inches). If the temple is covered with hair, sweat or dirt, remove the obstacle from the temple to improve the measuring accuracy.
  5. Press the “Measuring Trigger” button to take temperature. Measurement is complete when you hear a long beep sound.
  6. Read the recorded temperature from the LCD display.
  7. If Bluetooth has been activated, the data is automatically transferred to the App after successful completion of the pairing process. Refer to "Data Transfer via Bluetooth".

How to Measure Object Temperature

Data Transfer via Bluetooth

Pairing the Device with Your Smartphone

To begin using Bluetooth for the first time, please visit the website at http://www.rossmax.com for the initial set-up instructions.

  1. Download and install the applicable APP onto your smartphone.
  2. To pair this device with your smartphone, turn on the device, Bluetooth, and the smartphone's App, and follow set-up and pairing instructions.
  3. The Bluetooth symbol [Bluetooth icon] will flash on the display, indicating that pairing is proceeding.
  4. If the pairing is successful, the Bluetooth symbol [Bluetooth icon] will illuminate on the display, and the current measured temperature will automatically be transferred to the App.
  5. If the pairing has failed, the Bluetooth symbol [Bluetooth icon] will keep flashing until the device shuts off automatically after 1 minute, and the current measured temperature will not automatically be transferred to the App. Please re-pair this device with your smartphone.

Unpairing your device will not delete the data from the App.

If you re-pair your smartphone with the device, all prior reading history stored on the phone App will be retained.

Bluetooth data transfer will reduce the battery capacity.

Electromagnetic interference: The device contains sensitive electronic components. Avoid strong electrical or electromagnetic fields in the direct vicinity of the device (e.g., mobile telephones, microwave ovens). These may lead to temporary impairment of measurement accuracy.

Memory Function

There are a total of 9 set memories for measurement records. If the reading of the thermometer is within the normal temperature range of 34°C to 42.2°C (93.2°F to 108°F), when the measurement is done, the measurement data is saved into memory.

Care and Cleaning

  1. Storage temperature range: It should be stored at room temperature between -25~+55°C (-13°F~131°F), RH ≤85%, 700-1060hPa.
  2. Keep the unit dry and away from any liquids and direct sunlight.
  3. The probe should not be submerged into liquids.
  4. Please check the device if damaged once it falls. If you can’t make sure of it, please send the complete device to the nearest retailer for re-calibration.
  5. Holding the thermometer too long may cause a higher ambient temperature reading of the probe. This could make the body temperature measurement lower than usual. Please try not to touch the thermometer probe part to avoid incorrect reading.

Installing Batteries

  1. Open the battery cover: use thumb to push battery cover out.
  2. Install or replace 2 “AAA” sized batteries in the battery compartment according to the indications inside the compartment.
  3. Replace the batteries in pairs. Remove batteries when the unit is not in use for extended periods of time.
  4. Place back the battery cover.
