5. OPERATION

5.1 Preparation and Measurement

  1. Press the [On/Off] key to turn on the instrument and enter the main screen.
  2. Zero the pressure sensor reading:

NOTICE! Perform the pressure sensor reading adjustment before each new measurement. This action ensures the instrument always has the lowest possible reading deviation. Perform this process with the hoses disconnected from the refrigeration system.

  3. Connect the refrigerant hose.

NOTICE! The low-pressure (blue) and high-pressure (red) hoses should be connected to the instrument and the refrigeration system, respectively.

  4. Define the refrigerant to be used by pressing and holding the [Zero/Up] and [Down/Play] keys simultaneously. To replace the previously selected refrigerant, press the [Down/Play] or [Zero/Up] keys once.

5.2 Pressure and Temperature (PT) Measurement Mode

After selecting the refrigerant, the display will show the measured low and high pressures (PL and PH), as well as the evaporation and condensation temperatures (Ev and Co) based on Pressure x Temperature calculations.

Note: The instrument does not have an external temperature sensor (clamps); indications are based on Pressure x Temperature calculations.

5.3 Leak Test Mode (HOLD)

Note: This functionality needs to be purchased through the Elitech Tools application, as detailed in section 6.4.

  1. Connect the hose to the high-pressure side of the manifold and then to the system under test, with the low-pressure valve closed.

NOTICE! The high-pressure side of the manifold is the connection point for the leak test.

  2. Adjust for the leak test: Press the [Mode] + [Down/Play] keys simultaneously.
  3. Define leak test parameters:
    • Target Pressure Value: Configure the pressure value to be used as the baseline for the process. An audible alarm will indicate when the pressure reaches this value.
    • Percentage of Loss: Configure the tolerable pressure loss percentage (based on the target value). An alarm will indicate if the pressure loss exceeds this percentage.
    • Temperature Compensation: Enable/disable the temperature compensation functionality.
    • Test Duration: Set the duration of the test.
  4. System Charging: Charge the system with nitrogen according to the configured target pressure value. An alarm will indicate when the pressure reaches this value.

Note: Press any key to temporarily disable the audible alarm.

  5. Start Leak Test: Press the [Down/Play] key once to begin the countdown as configured by the app. The instrument will monitor the percentage of loss and emit an audible alarm if the set value is reached.

    Image 2 & 3 - Leak Test Interface

6.2 Leak Test Failure: If the leak test completes with a loss percentage exceeding the set value, or if this percentage is reached during the process, an audible and visual indication will be emitted by the instrument.

6.3 Manual Stop of Leak Test: Press and hold the [Down/Play] key to manually end the leak test.

7. Exit Leak Test Screen: Press and hold the [Mode] key to exit the leak test screen.

Note: For the Temperature Compensation function to be inactive, it must be disabled in the instrument's settings (TC) or via the Elitech Tools application.

5.4 Vacuum Measurement Mode (VAC)

Note: This functionality needs to be purchased through the Elitech Tools application, as detailed in section 6.4.

  1. Connect the hose to the high-pressure side of the manifold and then to the system under test, with the low-pressure valve closed.

  3. Connect the hose to the high-pressure side of the manifold and then to the system under test, with the low-pressure valve closed.
  4. Turn on the vacuum pump to start the process.

Note: When the system pressure is below atmospheric pressure, the manifold display will show the vacuum percentage relative to the maximum possible measurement (-14.5psi). For example, -7.2psi represents 50%. Before starting the measurement, the screen will indicate the process time, pressure, and percentage.

  5. Once on the vacuum process screen, press and hold the [Down/Play] key for a few seconds to start the process, measurement, and time count as programmed.

Note: The pressure sensor used for the vacuum process is intended only as a reading reference.
