BOBLOV KJ23 Body Camera User Manual

Part 1: Caution

  1. Always fully charge the battery before use. It is advised to charge at least 4 hours. Compatible Charger Plug: 5V, 1A.
  2. Once connected to the power, the camera will boot automatically. It is better to power off the camera manually for stable & quick charging.
  3. Do not expose the camera or battery to high/low-temperature environments. If the battery leaks or bulges, stop using. Risk of explosion if the battery is replaced with an incorrect type.
  4. Do not place the LCD or lens under direct sunlight.
  5. Never replace the battery on your own. It may cause damage or an explosion. Please contact BOBLOV if the battery has any problem.
  6. Never dismantle, crush, or pierce the product, or allow the product to short-circuit. Please seek professional assistance if the product does not work properly.
  7. If the machine is not used for a period, please charge it periodically. Otherwise, the battery will be damaged slowly.

Part 2: Structure Diagram

Part 2: Button Operation Guide

Button Action
Power Button Long press to Power On/Off the camera; Short press in standby to light off the screen.
Light Button 🔦 Short press to turn on/off white illuminator; Long press to turn on/off the IR Lights.
Return Button Short press acts as a return key in menu; In standby, short press plays the previous recorded video file; After powering on, long press turns on the Red Laser.
Video Button 📹 Short press to start/stop Video Recording in standby mode.
Audio Button 📡 Short press to start/stop Audio Recording in standby mode; Long press locks the camera status (other buttons won't work), long press again to unlock.
Photo Button 📷 Short press to take a photo; Long press activates Red-Blue Warning, press again for alarm sound, third press turns off Red-Blue Flashes.
Menu Button 🔢 Short press to enter Menu in standby mode; In playback list, short press accesses the Delete option.
Left Button Short press to enter the previous step; In standby/video mode, long press zooms out; When playing video, short press rewinds.
Right Button Short press to enter the next steps; In standby/video mode, long press zooms in; When playing video, short press fast forwards.
OK Button Short press enters Playback Mode in standby mode; When recording or in video file list, long press locks/marks the current file.

Part 3: Quick Setup

3.1 Power On / Off / Standby Mode

3.1.1 Power On / Off

Long press the power button to boot; long press to power off the device.

3.1.1 Standby Mode/Screen Save

When the device is powered on, short press the power button to turn the screen off/on. The working indicator stays green. The LCD Power Save option in the menu can be enabled. If there is no operation for 10 minutes, the screen will turn off. Tap any button to light up the display screen / activate the camera.

3.2 Video Recording

3.2.1 Recording

In standby, short press the video button 📹 to record video. During recording, a red dot appears on the screen and the working indicator is solid red. Press again to stop recording and save. Video files are named after the date and time, saved in MP4 format.

3.2.2 One Key to Record Videos

When powering off, long pressing the video button 📹 activates the camera and starts video recording.

3.2.3 Video Locked

During video recording, long press the OK Button to mark/lock videos. Long press the OK Button again to release/cancel the lock, then press the button to save the file. Refer to section 3.6 for locking/unlocking in playback.

3.3 Take Photo

3.3.1 Single Shot

In standby mode, short press the photo button 📷. The working indicator flashes red once, and a photo is taken. Photo files are saved in JPG format.

3.3.2 Photo Burst Mode

If "Snapshot" is set to "2P/3P/5P/10P/15P/20P/30P" in the menu, short press the photo button 📷. Red light flashes, and several photos are taken continuously.

3.3.3 Snapshot

During video recording, short press the photo button 📷 to get a snapshot. Every press takes one photo.

3.4 Audio Recording

3.4.1 Recording

This device can record separate audio files. After powering on, short press the audio button 📡 to record audio. During recording, the screen displays a microphone logo and recording details, and the working indicator is solid yellow. Press again to stop recording and save. Audio files are named after the date and time, saved in MP3 format.

3.4.2 One Key to Record Audios

When powering off, long pressing the audio button 📡 activates the camera and starts audio recording.

3.5 Night Vision

The infrared night vision is set to "Manual" by default. Long press the light button 🔦 to turn night vision on/off in standby or video mode. To activate night vision automatically, go to menu settings and set "Infrared mode" to "Auto". The camera will then switch to night vision mode based on ambient brightness.

3.6 Files View / Playback

After recording, enter the Playback Files Page to check files. In standby mode, short press the OK Button to enter the playback page and manage files.

Short press OK Button again to enter the files list. Long press OK Button to mark/lock videos; a 5-star icon appears on the left corner. Long press OK Button again to release the mark/lock.

3.7 File Deletion

In the Playback Files Page, files can be deleted. In the file list, short press the Menu button 🔢 to get the delete option, then short press Left Button or Right Button to select and OK Button to confirm.

Note: Marked videos cannot be deleted. Long press the OK Button to release the mark first.

3.8 Connect to Computer

Connect to the computer using the USB cable. Enter USB disk mode. If "Password" is enabled in the menu, you need to input the set password first (default is 000000) to review or delete files on the computer.

3.9 Reset

If the camera crashes or stops working, poke the reset hole with a pin or thimble (avoid excessive force). The device will shut down automatically and can be restarted by long pressing the Power Button .

Part 4: Features You May Concern

4.1 Loop Recording

When enabled, if storage is full, the device will cover old files with new recordings. Marked/locked videos are not overwritten. Video recording is saved as clips/fragments to avoid large file issues. Video length can be set to 5, 10, 15, 20, or 30 minutes.

4.2 Time & Date Stamp

The time & date stamp is enabled by default. Set the time via the menu.

4.3 One Key to Play

In standby mode, short press the Return Button to play the previous video file. After playback, it returns to the preview screen. This feature only works for video files.

4.4 Camera Password

The "Password" option is in the menu settings. To enable it, enter the default password: 000000, then short press Left/Right buttons / to select "ON" and press OK to confirm.

If the password is forgotten, contact support@boblov.com.

After enabling the "Password" option, password verification is required for:

  1. Connecting the camera to a PC.
  2. Entering the menu page.
  3. Entering the Playback Files Page.
  4. Changing the camera password (requires old password verification; new cameras require the default password).
  5. Changing the Device ID/Police ID.

4.5 Zoom in/ Zoom Out

In standby/video mode, long press the Right Button to zoom in, and long press the Left Button to zoom out. Zoom range is 1.0X - 16.00X.

4.6 Rewind/ Fast Forward

When playing video files, short press the Left Button for rewind play, and short press the Right Button for fast forward.

Short press the Left Button or Right Button to increase speed by two times. Fast forward and rewind speeds can be adjusted in the range of 4X-8X.

Part 6: Red-Blue Warning / Laser / White Light

6.1 Red-Blue Warning

After powering on, long press the Photo Button 📷 to turn on the warning function. The camera will sound an alarm and flash Red-Blue warning lights. Long press again to turn off the alarm sound, then a third long press turns off the Red-Blue Flashes.

6.2 Laser Light

After powering on, long press the Return Button to turn on/off the laser light. The camera emits a red laser beam to locate the shooting direction.

6.3 White Light

After powering on, short press the Light Button 🔦 to turn on/off the white light, which acts as an illuminating light.

Part 7: Menu Introduction

1. Short press the Menu button 🔢 to enter the menu page.

2. Short press Left/Right buttons / to select an option and OK Button to confirm.

3. Short press OK Button to exit the menu page.

Part 9: Troubleshooting

Q: The camera couldn't power on, does it stop working?

A: 1. Connect the charger and cable to charge the device and check if the problem is solved after 4 hours of charging.

2. Check if the charger and USB cable are normal.

3. Connect your device to the wall socket, then press the power button to check if it could be powered on.

4. Use a pin to reset the camera and re-power on to check again.

5. If the problem cannot be solved, please contact customer service for further help.

Q: Why did the camera stop recording? Can't store video anymore?

A: 1. Ensure sufficient camera storage capacity. Turn on Loop Recording to continuously record by covering old files when memory is full.

2. Physical check: Ensure the Video Button 📹 is intact and can be pressed down normally.

3. Format the camera and perform a hard reset, then try recording again.

4. If the problem cannot be solved, please contact customer service for further help.

Q: A video or audio cannot be played? Or no sound for videos?

A: 1. Check the menu and turn on the "Record with sound" function.

2. Turn the volume to the loudest to check if sound playback is normal on the camera itself.

3. It is recommended to play back videos/audio using a VLC media player on the computer.

Q: Why the screen turns off automatically?

A: The camera enters "LCD Power Save" mode by default after 10 minutes of inactivity. To keep the display always on, enter the menu and set the "LCD Power Save" option to Off. This option can be set to Off, 5 min, or 10 min.

Q: Why does the camera shut off automatically?

A: 1. Check if the "Power Off" option in the menu is enabled. To keep the camera powered on, set "Power Off" to Off in the menu. "Power Off" can be set to off, 5 min, or 10 min.

2. If the camera is formatted, it may shut off automatically after moments as it needs to read the storage again. Manually power on the camera again.

Q: I forgot my password, how to reset it?

A: Contact the support team at support@boblov.com for the universal password to restore the camera password.

Q: I lost the clips, can I get the replacement part?
