Important Safety Warnings

  • Always follow instructions to ensure your child's safety. Keep these instructions for future reference.
  • Failure to follow these instructions could result in serious injury or death. Avoid serious injury from falling or sliding out. Always use the safety harness and ensure children are properly positioned.
  • Never leave children unattended.
  • This single jogger is designed for one child only. Use with more than one child may cause imbalance and injure your child.
  • Purses, shopping bags, parcels, diaper bags, or accessory items may change the stroller's balance and cause hazardous unstable conditions.
  • Maximum weight capacity: Basket - 5 lbs (2.26 kg); Child tray and Parent tray - 3 lbs (1.36 kg) each; Side pockets (2) - 3 lbs (1.36 kg); Back pockets (2) - 3 lbs (1.36 kg); Canopy pockets (2) - 1 lb (0.45 kg). Excessive weight may cause hazardous unstable conditions.
  • Be certain the stroller is fully erect and latched in the open position before allowing children near it.
  • Do not use with children weighing more than 50 pounds (22.62 kg) or over 42 inches (106.7 cm) tall, as this may cause excessive wear and stress, leading to hazardous unstable conditions.
  • NEVER use the stroller on stairways or escalators.
  • NEVER use the stroller with roller skates, in-line skates, skateboards, or bicycles.
  • It is recommended that the child occupant be at least 6 months of age before using the stroller for jogging. Consult your health care provider before jogging with your child.
  • NEVER allow your stroller to be used as a toy.
  • To clean, use only mild household soap or detergent and warm water on a sponge or clean cloth.
  • Regularly check your stroller for loose screws, worn parts, torn material, or stitching. Replace or repair parts as needed.
  • Discontinue use if the stroller malfunctions or becomes damaged. Contact customer service for repair or replacement parts.
  • If you experience difficulty with assembly, missing parts, or use, DO NOT return the item to the store. Contact Customer Service Department directly for assistance.

Assembly Instructions

General Assembly Notes

  • Adult assembly is required.
  • Before assembly and each use, inspect the product for damaged hardware, loose joints, missing parts, or sharp edges. NEVER use if any parts are missing or broken.
  • Remove stroller from box. The front wheel, rear wheels, fender, and parent tray need to be installed prior to use.

Front Wheel Installation

This wheel utilizes a front wheel double nut locking system. Follow all instructions carefully to ensure your child's safety.

  1. Unlock the release lever. [Diagram: Release lever]. Unfold stroller frame by pulling backward on the stroller handle. Lean the stroller backwards so that it rests on the handle and rear axle frame, and the front wheel forks are pointing upward. [Diagram: Stroller frame unfolded, front forks pointing up]
  2. Slide the front wheel onto the front forks. [Diagram: Sliding front wheel onto forks]
  3. Slide the retainer plate onto the front wheel. Ensure the raised lip is pointing toward the fork and insert it into the slot on the fork. The tab on the retainer plate must be lined up with the slot before tightening the wheel. [Diagram: Attaching retainer plate to front wheel and fork]
  4. With the wheel in position, install the axle nuts and tighten with a wrench. You should feel significant resistance, and the wheel should be held tightly in place. [Diagram: Tightening axle nuts]
  5. Test installation: Lift the front wheel off the ground and sharply strike the top of the tire. The wheel should not be loose or come off. [Diagram: Testing front wheel security by striking tire]
  6. If you experience front wheel wobble that is beyond normal use, you may need to adjust the front wheel housing nut located under the footrest. Use a standard wrench to tighten the nut. DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN, as this can cause damage to the wheel housing. [Diagram: Location of wheel housing nut under footrest]

Fender Installation

  • Examine the bottom of the front fender. You will notice plastic tubes protruding from the bottom.
  • These tubes must be lined up with the holes in the front frame assembly.
  • Align the front fender and press onto the front frame assembly.
  • Insert the 4 screws through the underside of the front frame assembly into the front fender's plastic tubes. Tighten the screws only until snug; DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN.

Rear Wheel Installation

Lean the stroller forward to rest on the front wheel.

  1. To attach the rear wheels, push each wheel's axle into the plastic corner fitting. Depress the metal lever on the inside of the corner fitting as you push the axle in. Release the lever when the wheel won't go any farther.
  2. Check that the wheel has locked into place by pulling on it. If not locked, lift upward on the lever, push the wheel on farther, and release the lever.
  3. Ensure that the wheels are firmly locked into place. NEVER use the stroller if the wheels are not locked. Contact customer service immediately if wheels are not locked.

Parent Tray Installation

To attach the parent tray, line up its slots with the corresponding slots on the stroller frame and slide down until locked into place. Check that the parent tray is secure before using.

Canopy Installation

  1. To install the canopy, slide the male ends into the female slots on the stroller frame. [Diagram: Installing canopy]
  2. To open the canopy: Push forward on the front edge while holding the rear of the canopy in place. [Diagram: Opening canopy]
  3. To fold the canopy: Pull backward on the front edge. [Diagram: Folding canopy]

Child Tray Installation

Insert the tray clip into the fitting on the stroller's fold joint. Check that the tray clip locks into place. Push the angled tray onto the post at the end of the right armrest, while pressing downward on the snap button, until locked. Rotate the tray downward until latched onto the left armrest. Ensure the snap button comes through and securely latches the tray in place. [Diagram: Child tray attachment]

  • To access the child seat: Press the red snap button on the right side and lift upward. The child tray will lift and rotate out of the way. [Diagram: Accessing child seat]
  • To remove the child tray: Press the red snap button, rotate the tray upward, release the snap button on the underside of the right armrest, and pull the tray until it is released. [Diagram: Removing child tray]

Basket Installation

The rear basket tube needs to be installed prior to use. Insert the female end of the rear basket tube into the male ends located on the basket frame until it locks into place. [Diagram: Attaching rear basket tube]

MP3 Speaker (if equipped)

The parent tray comes with speakers and an MP3 jack. The speakers have a wire with a male jack for listening to music while jogging. Connect the male end of the speaker wire into your MP3 player. [Diagram: MP3 speaker connection]

Headrest/Pillow

This decorative pillow can be removed and used for your child to rest. To attach, unfasten the fabric loop on the back of the headrest, insert its loose end through the loop on the seat pad, and fasten the fabric loop on the back of the headrest to secure it to the seat pad. [Diagram: Attaching headrest/pillow]

Infant Car Seat Installation (if equipped)

  1. Turn the car seat support tabs on the stroller frame. Check that the front child tray is firmly attached to the stroller armrests. [Diagram: Car seat support tabs]
  2. Position the infant car seat so that it faces toward the rear of the stroller, and the seat shell goes into the front tray and latches into place. [Diagram: Placing infant car seat]
  3. When the infant car seat is locked firmly into place, strap the single short clip over the infant car seat through the seat belt slot on the infant car seat. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT THE SHORT CLIP IS ALWAYS TIGHTLY FASTENED AROUND THE INFANT CAR SEAT. [Diagram: Securing infant car seat with short clip]

Multi-Position Handle

To adjust the handle, press the red buttons to move the handle up or down to a comfort position for the user. [Diagram: Adjusting multi-position handle]

Brakes

  • Always set brakes when the stroller is not being pushed to prevent it from rolling away.
  • NEVER leave the stroller unattended on a hill or incline, as it may slide down.
  • To engage brakes: Apply light downward pressure to the brake lever located on each rear wheel. You may need to move the stroller slightly forward or backward to align the teeth on the brake with each wheel brake cluster. [Diagram: Applying rear wheel brake]. Check that the stroller will not move and that both brakes are properly applied.
  • To release brakes: Gently lift up on the brake lever.

Front Swivel Wheel Lock

  • Always lock the front swivel wheel in a STRAIGHT position before placing or removing your children from the jogger.
  • The swivel jogger is equipped with a front wheel locking device that works vertically to lock and unlock the wheel. [Diagram: Front wheel lock mechanism]

Safety Harness

  • Avoid serious injury from falling or sliding out. Always use the safety harness.
  • STRANGULATION HAZARD: Child can strangle in loose straps. Never leave child in seat when straps are loose or undone.
  • The shoulder straps of the 5-point harness have 3 attachment positions. Select the position that places the shoulder strap level with, or below, the top of the child's shoulder. To adjust harness height, unhook the shoulder strap from the crotch buckle and feed it through the harness spread slots (accessible from the rear of the seat). Feed shoulder strap through the appropriate slot and reattach to the crotch buckle. [Diagram: Harness strap positions]
  • Carefully place the child in the stroller seat. Bring the safety harness around the child's waist and over the shoulders. Place the crotch strap between the child's legs. Insert the male end of each shoulder/waist belt into the buckle on the crotch strap. Tighten the harness to be snug around the child's waist and over the child's shoulders. [Diagram: Securing child with harness]
  • To release harness (Type 1 Buckle): Push the red button on the center clasp; the two harness buckles will pop free. [Diagram: Releasing harness buckles]
  • To release harness (Type 2 Buckle): Apply pressure to both sides of each male clip until the clip is released. This process requires moderate effort to prevent accidental release by your child. [Diagram: Releasing Type 2 buckle]

Seatback Positioning

  • The seat has a multiple position recline controlled by a strap and buckle assembly behind the seat. [Diagram: Seatback recline mechanism]
  • To recline the seat: Loosen the strap through the buckle and adjust to the required recline position. [Diagram: Adjusting seatback recline]
  • To place the seat back in a more upright position: Press upward on the seat back with one hand while pulling the strap through the buckle with the other. The strap will lock automatically.
  • The upright position should be used only for a child that is at least 6 months old. Always readjust the safety harness, including the shoulder belts, when repositioning the seatback.

Jogging with Your Stroller

  • When you are jogging with your child, use the following safety features:
  • Never jog or run with your newborn in the car seat position. Use for strolling only.
  • Lock the front swivel wheels in STRAIGHT position.
  • SAFETY WRIST STRAP: Always connect the safety strap to either wrist when jogging. This strap will keep the stroller from rolling away in the event that you trip while running. The safety strap must remain connected to the rear lower frame cross member at all times. This location is intended to prevent the stroller from tipping backward if you fall. The strap includes a Velcro attachment for storage on the left side of the stroller when not in use. [Diagram: Wrist strap connection and storage]

Tires

  • Tires are shipped un-inflated. They should be inflated on a regular basis to between 20 to 25 p.s.i. Always use a bicycle style hand air pump to inflate the tires.
  • TIRE PUMP (if equipped): Remove flexible air hose from pump end, thread small brass fitting into opposite end, thread air nozzle tip onto valve stem of rim. Hold the pump body and pull back on the handle, then press down while pushing air into the tire. Repeat until tire is at 20 p.s.i. [Diagram: Tire inflation components]
  • If you experience numerous flat tires, you may want to purchase thorn-proof inner tubes.

Folding and Unfolding the Stroller

  • Care must be taken when folding and unfolding the stroller to prevent finger entrapment.
  • To Fold Stroller: Close the canopy. Place the seat in the furthest recline position. Slide the red thumb trigger to the left and squeeze the red pull trigger while pushing forward on the handle. Once the stroller begins to fold, release the handle and push forward until folded. Lock the red release lever to secure the stroller. [Diagram: Stroller folding mechanism]
  • To Unfold Stroller: Unlock the release lever. Unfold stroller frame by pulling backward on the stroller handle. [Diagram: Stroller unfolding mechanism]

Maintenance

Wheel Adjustment

It should be noted that all three-wheel vehicles can be easily influenced to deviate from a straight line due to factors like uneven tire pressure, improper wheel installation, road conditions, and manufacturing tolerances. If your Baby Trend stroller significantly tracks or pulls to the left or right while on flat terrain, follow the instructions on page 9 to realign your front wheel.
