Welcome
Dear music lover, thank you for purchasing a Pro-Ject Audio Systems Bluetooth Box E. In order to achieve maximum performance and reliability, you should study these instructions for use carefully.
Safety Instructions
⚠️ Warning of a hazard for the user, the unit, or possible misuse.
ℹ️ Important notice.
AC outlet voltages vary from country to country. Before connecting to the mains, ensure that the voltage in your area meets the voltage requirements printed on the power supply.
The power supply is used to disconnect the unit from the mains. Make sure that the power supply is easily accessible at all times. Never handle the device or the power supply with wet or damp hands.
Avoid letting liquids enter the device or the power supply. Never place any item containing liquid, such as a flower vase, on or near the device. Never spill any liquid on the device or the power supply.
Never place any naked flame sources, such as lighted candles, on or near the device. The product shall not be used in damp or wet locations, next to a bathtub, sink, swimming pool, or any other similar conditions.
Connectors
Make all connections whilst the product is disconnected from the power supply.
The diagram shows the following connectors: Optical In, Analog Out (with left and right channel indicators), and a Power input (9V DC). It also displays CE and RoHS certification marks.
Take care to connect the left and right channels correctly. The right channel is usually marked red, the left channel black or white.
⚠️ Never use any other power supply than the one supplied with the unit.
⚠️ Never connect or disconnect the power supply to or from the unit whilst the power supply is connected to the mains.
Connection to the Amplifier
Connect the Analog Out socket to a line input (such as AUX) on your amplifier. Alternatively, you can use the digital Optical Out to connect the unit to a D/A converter or to a digital input of your amplifier or AVR.
Only one output is active at a time; use the small switch to select digital or analogue output.
Mains Power Connection
Connect the low voltage plug from the power supply to the Power 9V DC socket before connecting the power supply to the mains.
Bluetooth Pairing
Pairing with Android OS Devices
Open Settings and tap on Bluetooth. Turn on Bluetooth and tap on Scan. Searched devices will show up. Tap on "BT Box E" (Confirm pairing code if requested). Once paired, it will show "Connected to media Audio". Now you can play music from your Android device over Bluetooth to Bluetooth Box E.
Pairing with Apple Devices
Tap on Settings, tap on Bluetooth, turn on Bluetooth. Your device will automatically start searching for available devices. Tap on "BT Box E" and it will be connected to the Bluetooth Box E. Now you can play music.
It is possible to use Bluetooth Box E also with other than the above-mentioned devices; the pairing procedure is always similar.
Reconnecting
If you move out of range or turn off Bluetooth, Bluetooth Box E will disconnect from your device. To reconnect, simply open the Bluetooth manager and tap on "BT Box E". If the signal is lost for only a few seconds, it can reconnect automatically – typically if you move out of range and then return back.
Adding a New Phone or Tablet
The unit can play music from one device at a time, but it is capable of being paired to up to 8 devices. If you want to switch from one device to another, you have to disconnect the existing connection to Bluetooth Box E and then follow the steps for pairing with a new device.
Troubleshooting
No music from speakers:
- Make sure the Bluetooth Box E is powered.
- Make sure an audio cable or an optical cable is correctly connected to Bluetooth Box E.
- Make sure you are within range.
- Make sure Bluetooth is enabled and the device is connected to Bluetooth Box E. Volume level is properly set.
