  2. Turn on the power switch to power on the camera. Warning: Close the cover tightly after use to prevent water from entering and damaging the camera.

    • Alternatively, search in LAN or use manual setup.

Step 5: WiFi Configuration

Enter your WiFi name (SSID) and password. Ensure your phone is connected to the same 2.4 GHz WiFi network.

Important: Hold the camera lens and the QR code at the same height for 5 to 10 seconds without moving, until you hear the voice prompt "WiFi connecting".

Step 6: WiFi Connection Confirmation

Confirm that you heard the voice prompt "WiFi connecting".

Step 7: Adding Device

For WiFi configuration, point the QR code directly at the camera. The best distance is 10-15cm.

Camera Installation

For outdoor use, the camera MUST be installed as intended and in the orientation described in the manual to enhance waterproofing and the efficiency of the PIR motion sensor.

HINWEIS:

  1. If a moving object approaches the PIR sensor vertically, the camera may not detect motion. The camera's angle affects the detection distance.
  2. The pan and tilt angle affect the PIR detection range.

Mounting the Camera

It is recommended to fully charge the battery before mounting the camera outdoors.

Option A: Charging with a Power Adapter

Charge the battery with a power adapter (not included). Please use the provided Type-C charging cable to avoid charging errors.

Option B: Charging with the Foscam Solar Panel

  1. Use the drilling template to mark the screw holes, then use a suitable drill to drill holes in the wall. Insert the wall plugs into the holes in the wall.
  2. Attach the bracket with the screws included in the package.

Solar Panel Installation

  1. Please choose a location for your solar panel with the highest sunlight exposure throughout the year. The Foscam Solar Panel only needs a few hours of direct sunlight to power the camera daily. The amount of energy the solar panel can produce depends on weather conditions, season, geographical location, etc.
  2. The ideal angle is the local latitude + 5°.
  3. Mount the bracket using the mounting template and the screws included in the package.
  4. Insert the solar panel into the bracket and ensure it is secure.
  5. Loosen the adjustment knob on the bracket and adjust the angle of the solar panel to receive direct sunlight, then tighten the adjustment knob to secure your setting.
  6. Connect the solar panel to the Foscam battery camera with the Type-C cable. You should hear a "click" to ensure it is waterproof.

Troubleshooting

The camera does not turn on

If your camera does not turn on, please try the following solutions:

  1. Ensure the power switch is turned on.
  2. Charge the battery with a DC 5V/1A power adapter. If the red and blue lights are on simultaneously, the battery is fully charged.
  3. Use a 5V/1A DC power supply to charge the battery. The blue light indicates the battery is charging. If the light does not illuminate, the battery voltage may be too low to activate the blue indicator. The battery needs to be charged longer before the blue light turns on. When the red and blue lights are on simultaneously, the battery is fully charged.
  4. If these do not work, please contact Foscam Support: support@foscam.com.

QR Code on Phone Cannot Be Scanned

If you cannot scan the QR code with your phone, please try the following solutions:

  1. Wipe the camera lens with a dry paper towel or cloth.
  2. Vary the distance between your camera and mobile phone to help the camera focus better.
  3. Try scanning the QR code in sufficient lighting.

WiFi Connection Failed During Initial Setup

If the camera cannot connect to WiFi, please try the following solutions:

  1. Ensure you have entered the correct WiFi password.
  2. Move the camera closer to your router to ensure a strong WiFi signal.
  3. Change the WiFi network's encryption method to WPA2-PSK/WPA-PSK (more secure encryption) on your router interface.
  4. Change your WiFi SSID or password and ensure the SSID is no longer than 31 characters and the password is no longer than 64 characters.
  5. Enter your password using only the characters available on the keyboard.
  6. If this does not work, please contact Foscam Support: support@foscam.com.

Information according to § 4 Paragraph 4 ElektroG

The following batteries or accumulators are included in this electrical device (NVR):

Battery Type Chemical System
Foscam B4: 5000mAh rechargeable Lithium

Information for Safe Removal of Batteries or Accumulators

Remove the foam padding from the mounting base. Place the foam padding aside. Remove the 6 screws from the mounting base. Disassemble the mounting base so that the battery is visible. Remove the 4 screws from the bracket and the upper housing. Remove the top part of the housing. Carefully pull out the connection cable from the battery. Carefully remove the battery. The battery or accumulator and the device can now be disposed of separately.

Electrical and Electronic Equipment

The Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act (ElektroG) contains a variety of requirements for the handling of electrical and electronic equipment. The most important ones are summarized here.

1. Separate Collection of Old Equipment

Electrical and electronic equipment that has become waste is referred to as old equipment. Owners of old equipment must hand it over for separate collection from unsorted municipal waste. Old equipment does not belong in household waste, but in special collection and return systems.

2. Batteries and Accumulators as well as Lamps

Owners of old equipment must generally separate old batteries and old accumulators that are not enclosed in the old equipment, as well as lamps that can be removed from the old equipment without damage, from the old equipment before handing them over to a collection point. This does not apply if old equipment is prepared for reuse with the involvement of a public-law disposal body.

3. Options for Returning Old Equipment

Owners of old equipment from private households can hand it over free of charge at the collection points of public-law disposal bodies or at the return points set up by manufacturers or distributors within the meaning of the ElektroG. Shops with a sales area of at least 400 m² for electrical and electronic equipment, as well as food shops with a total sales area of at least 800 m², which offer and market electrical and electronic equipment several times a year or permanently, are obliged to take them back. This also applies to sales via distance communication if the storage and shipping areas for electrical and electronic equipment are at least 400 m² or the total storage and shipping areas are at least 800 m². Distributors must ensure take-back through suitable return options within reasonable proximity to the respective end user.

The possibility of returning old equipment free of charge exists with distributors obliged to take it back, among other things, when a new equivalent device that performs essentially the same functions is handed over to an end user. If a new device is delivered to a private household, the equivalent old equipment can also be handed over there for free collection; this applies to devices of categories 1, 2 or 4 according to § 2 para. 1 ElektroG, namely "heat exchangers", "display devices" or "large appliances" (the latter with at least one external dimension exceeding 50 centimeters) when sold via distance communication. End users will be asked about their intention to return when concluding a purchase contract. In addition, old equipment that is no larger than 25 centimeters in any external dimension can be returned free of charge at distributor collection points, regardless of the purchase of a new device, limited to three old devices per device type.

4. Data Protection Notice

Old equipment often contains sensitive personal data. This applies in particular to information and telecommunication technology devices such as computers and smartphones. Please note, in your own interest, that each end user is responsible for deleting the data on the old equipment to be disposed of.

5. Meaning of the "Crossed-out Trash Can" Symbol

The symbol of a crossed-out trash can, which is regularly depicted on electrical and electronic equipment, indicates that the respective device must be collected separately from unsorted municipal waste at the end of its service life.
