SICCE SCUBA PRESET Aquarium Heater: Safety, Operation, and Warranty Guide
Brand: SICCE
Product Overview
The SICCE SCUBA PRESET is a submersible electronic heater designed for maintaining optimal water temperatures in freshwater and saltwater aquariums, terrariums, hydroponic systems, and hydroculture setups. It is intended for internal use only.
Important Safety Instructions
WARNING: To prevent injury, basic safety precautions must be observed. Failure to follow these instructions may result in loss of fish and/or damage to the appliance.
WARNING: Due to the use of water with aquarium equipment, special care must be taken to avoid electric shock. Do not attempt to repair the appliance yourself. Return it to an authorized service facility or discard it.
General Safety Precautions:
- CAUTION: Immediately unplug the appliance if any sign of abnormal water leakage is observed.
- Carefully examine the appliance after installation. Do not plug it in if water is present on parts not intended to be wet. Maximum operating depth is 1 meter (3 feet).
- Do not operate if the cord or plug is damaged, or if the appliance malfunctions, has been dropped, or damaged in any way.
- To prevent the plug or receptacle from getting wet, position the aquarium stand and tank away from wall-mounted outlets. Arrange a "drip loop" for each cord connecting an aquarium appliance to an outlet. The drip loop is the portion of the cord below the outlet level, preventing water from traveling along the cord to the outlet. If the plug or socket gets wet, do NOT unplug the cord; instead, disconnect the fuse or circuit breaker supplying power to the appliance, then unplug and check the outlet for water.
- This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless supervised or instructed by a person responsible for their safety. Children should be supervised to ensure they do not play with the appliance.
- To avoid injury, do not touch hot parts.
- Always unplug the appliance when not in use, before attaching or removing parts, and before cleaning. To disconnect, grasp the plug and pull; never yank the cord.
- This is an aquarium heater. Do not use it for other purposes (e.g., swimming pools, garden ponds, bathrooms). Using attachments not recommended or sold by the manufacturer may cause an unsafe condition.
- This heater is suitable for indoor use only. Do not install or store it where it will be exposed to weather or temperatures below freezing.
- Ensure the appliance is securely mounted on the tank before operating.
- If an extension cord is necessary, use one with a proper rating. A cord rated for less amperage or wattage than the appliance may overheat. Arrange the cord to prevent tripping or pulling.
- The power cord cannot be replaced. If damaged, the appliance must be discarded. Never cut the cord.
- (For North America only) This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade wider than the other). It fits into a polarized outlet only one way. If it does not fit fully, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Never use with an extension cord unless the plug can be fully inserted. Do not attempt to defeat this safety feature.
CAUTION: The heater must never be operated outside of water.
SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS
Operating Instructions
WARNING: Turn off and disconnect all appliances inside the aquarium before beginning any installation or maintenance work.
- Check the voltage on the heater's label to ensure it matches the main power supply.
- The heater must be immersed in water at least up to the "MINIMUM" level indicator.
- Before connecting to the power grid, check that the cable and heater are not physically damaged.
- Attach the suction cups to the heater. An optional sticker can be applied to the front surface for decoration.
- Place the heater inside the aquarium where there is good water circulation. Positioning it near a source of water movement ensures even distribution of warmed water.
- DO NOT PLUG THE HEATER INTO THE MAIN SUPPLY UNIT UNTIL IT IS IN WATER.
- Ensure the heater remains submerged at all times.
- Choose the correct heater wattage based on the aquarium's capacity and type, room temperature, and the recommended ratio of 1 Watt per liter of water.
LED Indicator:
- LED ON: Heater is operating.
- LED OFF: SET temperature has been reached.
The SCUBA PRESET heater increases water temperature up to a SET point of +25°C / 77°F. A tolerance of +/- 1°C (+/-2°F) may occur due to aquarium type (open/closed), water volume, positioning, and water movement.
The electronic control automatically switches off the heater when it is removed from water or when the SET temperature is reached.
CAUTION: If the room or water temperature is already 25°C / 77°F or higher, the heater will not turn on as the electronic control indicates the set temperature has been met or exceeded.
If the heater fails to reach the SET temperature, the wattage may be too low for the aquarium volume.
For added safety, it is advisable to check the water temperature regularly with a thermometer.
Maintenance
The heater requires minimal maintenance, primarily periodic cleaning of the glass to remove salt or algae incrustations.
To remove incrustations, use only water and vinegar or the SICCE PUMP CLEAN product. Do not use detergents, solvents, or acids.
ATTENTION: Under no circumstances should you attempt to disassemble the heater or pull on the power cable.
Product Disposal
In accordance with EU Directive 2002/96/EC (WEEE), this product should not be disposed of with regular household waste at the end of its life. It must be delivered to specific electric waste collection centers or authorized dealers. Separate disposal helps prevent negative environmental and health consequences and allows for material regeneration, saving energy and resources.
