Important Safety Instructions

WARNING - To guard against injury, basic safety precautions should be observed, including the following.

READ AND FOLLOW ALL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

WARNING: To avoid possible electric shock, special care should be taken since water is employed in the use of aquarium equipment. For each of the following situations, do not attempt repairs by yourself. Return the appliance to an authorized service facility for service or discard the appliance.

  1. CAUTION: If the appliance shows any sign of abnormal water leakage, immediately unplug it from the power source.
  2. Carefully examine the appliance after installation. It should not be plugged in if there is water on parts not intended to be wet.
  3. Do not operate any appliance if it has a damaged cord or plug, or if it doesn't work properly or has been dropped or damaged in any manner.
  4. To avoid the possibility of the appliance plug or receptacle getting wet, position aquarium stand and tank or the fountain to one side of a wall-mounted receptacle to prevent water from dripping onto the receptacle or plug. A "drip-loop" (fig. 1) should be arranged by the user for each cord connecting an aquarium appliance to a receptacle. The "drip-loop" is the part of the cord below the level of the receptacle or the connector if an extension cord is used, which prevents water travelling along the cord and coming in contact with the receptacle.

If the plug or socket does get wet, DON'T unplug the cord. Disconnect the fuse or circuit breaker that supplies power to appliance. Then unplug and examine for presence of water in the receptacle.

  1. This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
  2. To avoid injury, do not contact moving parts or hot parts such as heaters, reflectors, lamp bulbs and similar.
  3. Always unplug an appliance from an outlet when not in use, before putting on or taking off parts and before cleaning. Never yank cord to pull plug from outlet. Grasp the plug and pull to disconnect.
  4. Do not use an appliance for other than intended use. The use of attachments, not recommended or sold by the manufacturer of the appliance, may cause an unsafe condition.
  5. Do not install or store the appliances where it will be exposed to the weather or to temperatures below freezing.
  6. Make sure an appliance mounted on a tank is securely installed before operating it.
  7. Read and observe all the important notices of the appliance.
  8. If an extension cord is necessary, a cord with a proper rating should be used. A cord rated for less amperes or watts than the appliance rating may overheat. Care should be taken to arrange the cord so that it will not be tripped over or pulled.
  9. This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than other). As a safety feature, this plug will fit in a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Never use with an extension cord unless plug can be fully inserted. Do no attempt to defeat this safety feature.
  10. The installation instructions shall provide information on requirements specified for the electrical installation and shall include reference to national wiring rules. If reference is made to zones, the corresponding drawings shall be included.
  11. For appliances with Type Z attachment, the instructions shall contain the substance of the following. The supply cord cannot be replaced. If the cord is damaged the appliance should be scrapped.

CAUTION: The appliance must never be operated outside of water.

CAUTION: The appliance is to be connected to a circuit that is protected by a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter.

Maintenance

Filter materials (Pic. B)

To clean the sponges, unclip the filter modules (3.2 and 3.3) and extract the sponges (12, 13, 14). Rinse them delicately under running water. Refit the sponges inside the modules and reassemble the modules. A replacement of the materials is recommended with a certain regularity (3-6 months) to maintain the transparency of the water and the performance of the filter unchanged.

Rotor (Pic. C)

To clean or replace the rotor, unhook all the filter modules (3) and extract the rotor. Rinse it under running water, possibly using a brush or Sicce Pump Clean. If the rotor is damaged or worn, replace it with the original Sicce spare part. Reassemble the rotor and reassemble the filter modules.

Modularity

SHARK PRO NANO can be upgraded by adding extra Unit (available as spare part). You can add as many as necessary for temporary water treatments or to improve the Filtration module.

SHARK PRO NANO can be used VERTICALLY & HORIZONTALLY for Turtles Kit and Paludarium

The Filter can be positioned horizontally or vertically and the filter's modules can be rotated thanks to a double fitting of the base.

When used with low water level, as per turtles kit or paludarium, the filter will base on the bottom of the aquarium in horizontal way. In this case, we recommend to use heavier filter media as the filter's buoyancy, not necessary in this specific application, could become an issue.

Instructions for the Correct Discharge of the Product according to EU Directive 2002/96/EC

When used or broken, the product does not have to be discharged with the other waste. It can be delivered to the specific electric waste collection centers or to dealers who give this service. Discharge separately an electric tool avoid negative consequences for the environment and for the Health and allows to regenerate the materials so to have a great saving of energy and resources.

  2. PUMP BODY.
  3. FILTER MODULES.
  4. FLOW REGULATOR.
  5. AIR HOSE WITH ADJUSTABLE SILENCER.
  6. VENTURI.
  7. DEFLECTOR.
  8. SPRAY BAR.
  9. , 10, 11) FILTER SPONGES.
  10. ROTOR.

Installation (Pic. A)

Before installation, choose which accessory to use for the flow mode: none, venturi (6) with tube + air silencer (5), venturi (6) with tube + air silencer (5) + deflector (7) - it can be rotated to direct the flow of water -, only deflector (7) or spray bar (8).

Detach the magnetic holder (1) from the pump (2). Place the filter inside the aquarium and delicately place the magnetic support outside the aquarium next to the filter. The magnetic holder works very well with glass up to 6mm thick. For greater thicknesses, the strength of the magnet is not guaranteed. Adjust the flow using the side slider (8). If using the venturi with air tube, adjust the silencer located at the end (5). If installed, rotate the deflector (7) to find the desired flow direction. The flow system guarantees an independent path for the water flowing through the modules, avoiding accumulation of organic material and blockages in the various levels. This is thanks to the internal design of the modules in which a free compartment is created for the flow of water.

SPRAY BAR HOLES (7)

It is advisable to monitor that the sparybar holes are always free and not obstructed by filaments or algae which could reduce the flow and performance of the filter.

Cleaning

For thorough cleaning of the mechanical parts of the filter (rotor, impeller) or of the filter itself if particularly dirty, we recommend SICCE PUMP CLEAN, excellent for filters, pumps and much more.

Correct maintenance guarantees a longer life of the product and protects it from limescale formation or deposits of algae and organic material, keeping it in perfect efficiency for effective filtration.
