SICCE Nano Micron, Micron, and Micropond Internal Filters
Instruction Manual
General Safety Instructions
Thank you for choosing SICCE internal filters for your aquarium, turtle basin, or fountain. Please read and follow these instructions carefully to get the best performance from your product.
WARNING: To prevent injury, basic safety precautions must be observed:
- Always disconnect the pump from the power outlet when not in use, before adding or removing parts, and before cleaning.
- Do not allow the pump to run dry. The pump must be completely immersed in water.
- This pump must be used in a circuit protected by a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) with a nominal current of 30mA or less.
- Ensure the voltage on the filter's label matches your mains voltage.
- Before connecting the filter to the electrical network, check that the cable and the filter are not damaged.
- The filter has a Type Z cable connection. The cable and plug cannot be substituted or repaired; if damaged, the entire filter must be replaced.
- CAUTION: Disconnect all submerged electrical equipment before performing any maintenance in water. If the plug or electrical outlet becomes wet, disconnect the main switch before unplugging the power cable.
- The filter must never operate without water to avoid damage to the motor.
- The filter can be used in liquids or environments with temperatures not exceeding 35°C (95°F).
- Do not use the appliance for purposes other than those for which it was designed, such as in bathrooms or similar applications.
- Avoid using the filter with corrosive or abrasive liquids.
- This appliance is not designed for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities unless supervised by a person responsible for their safety.
- To prevent accidental drips from wetting the plug or socket, create a "drip loop" (Fig. A) with the cord below the socket level.
- Do not lift or move the filter by the power cord during installation or maintenance.
- Nano Micron/Micron filters are for indoor use only. Micropond with a 10m cable can be used for outdoor applications.
Grounding Instructions
This appliance must be grounded to minimize the risk of electric shock. It is equipped with a grounding conductor and a grounding-type plug. The plug must be connected only to a properly grounded, grounding-type receptacle installed in accordance with all applicable codes and ordinances.
For use on a nominal 120-volt circuit, the grounding plug looks like the illustration provided. A temporary adapter may be used to connect to a two-pole receptacle if a grounded outlet is not available, but only until a grounded outlet can be installed by a qualified electrician. The green-colored ear of the adapter must be fastened to a permanent ground, such as a grounded outlet box.
Use and Adjustment
For correct operation, the filter must be completely submerged or positioned so that the water level in the aquarium or fountain never drops below the lower edge of its cover (Fig. 1).
Nano Micron/Micron: Before attaching the filter, carefully clean the glass surface where the suction cups will be attached. The Micron is supplied with a cartridge (d) containing activated carbon and zeolite, and a microporous sponge. Before using the filter, remove the cartridge and rinse it in running water to remove any carbon dust. Alternatively, the microporous sponge (e) can be used for mechanical filtration.
Nano Micron/Micropond: This filter is equipped with a microporous sponge (e) for mechanical filtration. It can be used with 4 types of water features (SICCE Jet Kit). In both filter types, the water flow can be adjusted using the flow regulator, allowing for precise and easy dosage according to the aquarium or fountain volume (Fig. 4).
The Nano Micron/Micron can be used not only in aquariums but also in terrariums or turtle basins. In this case, it must be placed horizontally, ensuring the filter is completely immersed in water for correct operation. By removing the water distributor jet fitted on the Nano Micron/Micron, rigid or flexible tubes can be connected to the filter's circular outlet to direct the flow to a specific area (e.g., waterfalls or slides commonly found in terrariums) (Fig. 5).
Maintenance
The Nano Micron/Micron and Micropond filters are powered by a watertight synchronous motor and require minimal but important maintenance for correct function.
- For regular cleaning of the filtering cartridge, remove the filter from the tank or fountain, open the filter housing (Fig. 3a), and rinse the sponge or cartridge under running water.
- Every two months, remove the pre-chamber (Fig. 3b), carefully extract the rotor (Fig. 3c), and wash all parts in warm water, removing any calcium deposits. Reassemble in reverse order.
- The activated carbon and zeolite cartridge is effective for absorbing chlorine, medical residues, and other dissolved pollutants. It has a maximum lifespan of 30 days and must be replaced thereafter (Fig. 6d).
- If using the sponge, rinse it under plenty of running water and replace it when worn out.
Instructions for Correct Product Disposal (EU Directive 2002/96/EC)
At the end of its useful life, this product must not be disposed of with regular household waste. It should be delivered to designated electrical waste collection centers or to dealers providing this service. Separate disposal of electrical appliances helps prevent potential negative consequences for the environment and public health, and allows for material recovery, saving energy and resources.
Warranty
This product, excluding the rotor (c), is guaranteed against defects in materials and workmanship for a period of 2 years from the date of purchase. The warranty certificate must be fully completed by the dealer and must accompany the unit if returned for repair, along with the original sales receipt or equivalent document. The warranty covers the replacement of defective parts. Improper use, tampering, or negligence by the buyer or user will void the warranty. The warranty is also void if the sales receipt or equivalent document is missing. Shipping costs to and from the factory or repair station are the buyer's responsibility.
ATTENTION! Limestone deposits and natural wear of components may increase the filter's noise level but do not affect its proper functioning. In such cases, replacing the impeller is recommended.
