Televes dCSS NevoSwitch 5 Inputs - 2 Outputs
Product Overview
The Televes dCSS NevoSwitch is an advanced multiswitch designed for efficient satellite signal distribution. It features 5 inputs, including one passive terrestrial input and four satellite polarity inputs, and provides 2 dCSS/dSCR user outputs. This device is compliant with SCR I (EN50494) and SCR II (EN50607) standards, ensuring compatibility with both new and existing set-top boxes (STBs). The multiswitch can be configured as a terminal in a star topology or cascaded using a simple switch.
A key feature is the exclusive DCFLEX functionality, which offers flexible powering options. The multiswitch can be powered from an external power supply, the connected receiver, or through the cascade via satellite inputs or outputs. This flexibility allows installers to adapt the powering method to specific system requirements. The device also includes several control switches that enhance its versatility, notably the ability to isolate the multiswitch from the cascade in terms of current.
Key Features and Highlights
- 2 User Outputs: Supports up to 16 user bands per output.
- DCFLEX Functionality: Provides multiple powering options (power supply, receiver, or cascade).
- Easy Integration: The SAT DC LINK switch allows local powering of the multiswitch without affecting the cascade power.
- Enhanced Security: Set-top boxes can be fully isolated from the cascade power supply using the RECEIVER POWER switch.
- Terrestrial DC Control: The TERR.DC ON switch manages power supply to the terrestrial branch, useful for mast amplifiers or BOSS antennas.
- Wide Voltage Range: Compatible with most systems, operating between 10 V and 20 V.
- Eco Mode: Reduces power consumption to zero when STBs are disconnected and the terrestrial input is passive.
- TForce Technology: Automatically adjusts the terrestrial output level (TERR. AMP. ACTIVE) to the optimal level.
- European Design: High quality design, manufacturing, and materials (zamak).
- Color Identification: Input and output ports are color-coded for easy identification.
- Versatile Configuration: Supports cascade and independent configurations.
What is dCSS Technology?
dCSS (Digital Channel Stacking Switch) technology is an evolution of SCR (Satellite Channel Router) technology. SCR allows the distribution of one or several satellite signals to multiple users over a single coaxial cable by assigning user bands and using DiSEqC commands for tuning. The original SCR standard (EN50494), defined in 2007, supported up to 8 user bands.
The dCSS standard (EN50607) significantly improves upon SCR by allowing the distribution of more satellites and supporting up to 32 user bands in a single cable, effectively utilizing the entire satellite band. dCSS is backwards compatible with SCR.
dCSS technology is suitable for both individual and communal distribution and can operate in dynamic or static modes. It can also be combined with optical fiber to extend distribution reach. This technology is key for the mass adoption of new reception devices like Home Gateways and PVRs.

Application Examples
The document provides several diagrams illustrating different installation and powering scenarios for the dCSS NevoSwitch, including:
- A typical installation in a multi-story building with a single LNB Quattro feeding multiple floors via cascaded multiswitches.
- Detailed views of switch configurations for various powering methods: from the PSU, from the user STB receiver, and from the satellite trunk.
- Diagrams showing cascade configurations with different power supply units (e.g., 3A PSU) and tap-off values (e.g., 20dB, 15dB, 8dB).
These examples demonstrate the flexibility of the dCSS NevoSwitch in diverse network setups.
