Televes dCSS NevoSwitch 5: Versatile Single-Cable Multiswitch
The Televes dCSS NevoSwitch 5 offers unparalleled versatility for satellite signal distribution.
Product Overview
The dCSS NevoSwitch 5 is a cascadeable single-cable multiswitch featuring 5 inputs (1 passive terrestrial and 4 satellite) and 4 outputs. It supports the dCSS (EN50494) and dSCR (EN50607) standards, as well as a "Legacy Mode," allowing for the operation of both new and existing receivers. Its dynamic mode enables the reception of all transponders from a satellite, supporting up to 16 users per output via a single cable.
A key feature is the exclusive DCFLEX functionality, which provides flexibility in powering the multiswitch. It can be powered through a power supply unit or via the SAT lines. The DC LINK switch allows the installer to isolate the multiswitch from the cascade's power supply when a power supply is connected, ensuring local power without affecting the cascade. This enhances safety for receivers when multiswitches are disconnected from the cascade's power supply.
The TERR.DC ON switch allows for the connection or disconnection of the power supply from the cascade in the terrestrial path. This is useful for powering a mast amplifier or a BOSS antenna, as well as for the terrestrial branches of other multiswitches in a cascade.
With a power consumption of 10V to 20V, the dCSS multiswitches are compatible with many systems available on the market. They offer low power consumption for economical operation (Receiverpowered). The TFORCE technology, developed by Televes, ensures intelligent level adaptation in the terrestrial frequency range.
The NevoSwitch 5 is compatible with existing Televes NevoSwitch multiswitches and can be used as a standalone or cascade switch. Inputs and pass-through outputs are color-coded for easy identification. The product boasts European quality and design, with 100% development and manufacturing at Televes.

Understanding dCSS Technology
dCSS technology is an advancement of the well-known SCR technology, offering enhanced capabilities for satellite signal distribution. SCR technology (Satellite Channel Router) enables the complete distribution of signals from one or more satellites to multiple users via a single coaxial cable, reducing the need for additional cabling.
This is achieved through static or dynamic user band assignment and the use of DiSEqC commands for satellite signal tuning. The SCR standard (EN50494), developed in 2004, initially supported up to 8 user bands in the satellite IF band (950 MHz-2150 MHz). Receivers communicate with the distribution unit (LNB or multiswitch) via special DiSEqC signals to share the desired program's band and transponder.
With dCSS Technology (Digital Channel Stacking Switch) and the associated EN50607 standard, significant improvements have been made. It is now possible to distribute signals from multiple satellites to a maximum of 32 receivers connected to a single cable. dCSS technology is also backward compatible with SCR.
dCSS technology finds application in various scenarios, including single and multi-user reception systems in tree-structure installations, as well as in static or dynamic operating modes. The dynamic mode offers a flexible and cost-effective alternative to headends with intermediate frequency processing, which were common in earlier analog and digital satellite distributions.
Furthermore, dCSS technology can be combined with fiber optic distribution, significantly extending the reach of satellite distribution. In essence, dCSS technology represents a major step forward in distributing satellite signals over a single coaxial cable, paving the way for future reception devices like Homegateways, SAT-receivers with multi-tuners, and SAT>IP applications.
