Assembly Instructions
Follow these steps for assembly:
Step 1: Attaching the Fan to the Electrical Box
Warning: Mount to an outlet box marked "Acceptable for fan support of 35 lbs. (15.9kg) or less," and use the screws provided with the outlet box.
Description: Secure the Mounting Bracket to the outlet box using the outlet box screws, washers, and spring washers. Ensure the bracket is firmly attached.
Step 2: Assembling the Downrod and Motor
Description: Insert the Clevis Pin and Hairclip Pin through the downrod and motor assembly to secure them. Attach the Coupling Cover over the downrod.
Step 3: Mounting the Fan Assembly
Description: Lift the assembled fan motor and downrod, and hang it onto the mounting bracket. Ensure it is securely seated.
Step 4: Attaching Blade Brackets to Blades
Description: Secure the Blade Brackets to each fan Blade using the provided screws (Item 10). Ensure all screws are tightened.
Step 5: Attaching Blades to Motor
Description: Attach the assembled blades (with brackets) to the motor assembly using the Setscrews (Item 1). Ensure the blades are properly aligned and secured.
Step 6: Installing the Canopy
Description: Slide the Canopy up to cover the mounting bracket and wiring. Secure it in place.
Step 7: Making Electrical Connections
Warning: Ensure electricity is turned off at the main fuse box before wiring.
Description:
- Connect the fan's 4-pin plug to the remote control receiver's 4-pin plug.
- Connect the remote control receiver to the house's power line: connect the receiver's white wire to the house's white wire, the receiver's black wire to the house's black wire.
- Connect all fan ground wires (green) to the house ground wires. Secure all connections with wire caps.
- Connect the fan motor to the lamp: connect the fan motor's white wire (1P white) to the lamp's white wire (1P white). Connect the fan motor's blue wire (1P blue) to the lamp's blue wire (1P blue).
Diagram Description: Shows wiring connections between the fan motor, lamp, remote receiver, and AC power supply, with color-coded wires (blue, white, black, green).
Step 8: Final Assembly
Description: Complete any remaining connections and ensure all parts are securely fastened. The fan is now ready for operation.
Remote Control Setting and Operation
- Restore electricity to the outlet box by turning on the main fuse box.
- Remove the battery cover from the remote control transmitter, install the battery (LR03/AAA1.5V), and replace the cover.
- Note: If not used for a long period, remove the battery to prevent damage and store away from heat or humidity.
Remote Control Functions:
- LIGHT ON/OFF: Controls the fan's light.
- Fan Speed: HI (Highest), MED (Medium), LOW (Lowest).
- FAN STOP: Turns the fan off.
- Timer: Sets auto-off timer: 1H (1 hour), 2H (2 hours), 4H (4 hours), 8H (8 hours).
Diagram Description: Shows the remote control layout with buttons labeled LIGHT ON/OFF, Fan Speed (HI, MED, LOW), FAN STOP, and Timer (1H, 2H, 4H, 8H).
Troubleshooting Guide
Table of Contents:
- 1. Fan / Remote is not working
- 2. Fan is noisy
- 3. Fan Wobbles
- 4. Light is not working
1. Fan / Remote is not working
- Ensure the remote is within 20 feet of the receiver.
- To reset the remote: Turn off power to the fan, remove batteries from the remote, wait 10 seconds, replace batteries, and turn power back on.
- Check batteries for correct installation and charge.
- Verify that the frequency switches (DIP switches) on the remote and receiver are set to the same frequency.
- Check main and branch circuit fuses or breakers.
- If using a Variable Speed Wall Switch, ensure it is designed for ceiling fans.
- Check line wire connections to the fan and switch wire connections in the switch housing per instructions.
- If the fan still does not work, contact Customer Service.
2. Fan is noisy
- Ensure all motor housing screws are tightened.
- Ensure screws attaching fan blades to the motor are tight.
- Check that wire nut connectors are not rattling against each other or the switch housing interior.
- Allow a 24-hour break-in period; most new fan noises disappear during this time.
- If using a light kit, ensure glassware is secured tightly.
- Ensure there is a short distance/gap between the ceiling and the top of the canopy; the canopy should not touch the ceiling.
- Make sure the ceiling box is secure and rubber isolator pads are used between the mounting bracket and outlet box.
3. Fan Wobbles
Note: Ceiling fans tend to move during operation due to the rubber grommet mounting. Slight movement is acceptable.
- Verify all blades and blade bracket screws are secure.
- Run the fan for 10 minutes to allow self-adjustment.
- If wobble persists, check blade level: Select a point on the ceiling above a blade tip. Measure the distance from the blade tip to that point. Rotate the fan and repeat for each blade. Measurements should be within 1/8 inch (0.32cm).
- If deviation is less than 1/8 inch and wobble continues, contact Customer Service to order a complimentary Blade Balancing Kit.
- If wobble is still noticeable after using the kit, try interchanging two adjacent blades to redistribute weight.
- Warning: Do not bend blade arms, insert foreign objects, or bend blades during installation or maintenance.
4. Light is not working
- Check that the bulb is installed correctly.
- Remove the non-working bulb and replace it with a known working bulb.
- To reset the remote control: Turn off power to the fan, remove batteries from the remote, wait 10 seconds, replace batteries, and turn power back on.
After Installation
Wobble Explanation
The fan blades are adjusted in the factory to minimize wobble. Ceiling fans are mounted on a rubber grommet, allowing slight movement during operation. This is normal and does not suggest a problem.
Reducing Fan Wobble
- Ensure all screws securing the mounting bracket and downrod are secure.
- Check that all blade and blade arm screws are secure.
- Check blade levels as described in the troubleshooting section (within 1/8 inch tolerance).
- Use the included Balancing Kit if wobble is still noticeable.
- Interchanging adjacent blades can help redistribute weight and improve smoothness.
- Warning: Do not bend blade arms, insert foreign objects, or bend blades during installation or maintenance.
Noise
Occasional small noises are normal, especially at night. Allow a 24-hour "breaking-in" period for most noises to subside.
Care and Cleaning
- Periodic cleaning is the only maintenance required. Use a soft brush or lint-free cloth to avoid scratching the finish.
- Important: Turn off electricity power at the electrical panel box before cleaning or attempting any repairs.
- Do not use water when cleaning the fan. It could damage the motor or blades and create an electrical shock hazard.
- The motor has permanently lubricated ball bearings; no oiling is necessary.
