- Install Latch: Place the latch into the door hole, ensuring the face is flush with the door edge.
- Prepare Exterior Keypad: If your door has 2-1/8" (54 mm) or 1-1/2" (38 mm) holes, prepare the exterior keypad accordingly.
- Prepare Mounting Plate: Remove gasket, adapter ring, and any necessary tabs from the mounting plate. Reinstall gasket for a tight seal.
- Install Keypad and Mounting Plate: Feed the cable underneath the latch. Attach the mounting plate to the door, keeping it parallel to the edge. Tighten screws evenly.
- Load Batteries and Reset Lock: Ensure correct battery polarity. Use new, non-rechargeable alkaline batteries. Press and hold the Reset button on the interior assembly for five seconds until three beeps are heard.
- Install Interior Assembly: Align the interior assembly with the mounting plate and secure it. The turnpiece may rotate on its own.
- Enter Door Handing Code and Test Lock: With the door open and unlocked, enter the default MASTERCODE (0-0-0-0) followed by the Lock button to teach the lock the door’s orientation. The keypad should flash green twice with two beeps if successful. Test the lock by pressing the Lock button.
- Install Strike: Align the strike with the latch bolt and secure it to the door frame.
- Re-key the Lock: If necessary, re-key the lock to work with your existing key using the supplied SmartKey Re-key instructions.
