Programming Instructions
This document provides step-by-step instructions for programming the Kwikset Powerbolt 2 Touchpad Keyless Entry lock. It covers resetting the lock, setting the locking and unlocking direction, testing the lock, deleting user codes, and changing the default mastercode.
A User Code is used to unlock the door, while a Mastercode is a password for making changes to the lock features.
Getting Started
Before programming, ensure your lock is ready. The first step involves resetting the lock to its original settings.
Step 1: Reset Your Lock
Follow these steps to reset your lock:
- Ensure the lock is in the unlocked position.
- Remove the battery cover.
- Press and hold the "Reset" button for 5 seconds. You will hear three long beeps, indicating the lock has been reset.
Tip: After a reset, your User Code will be 1-2-3-4 and your Mastercode will be 0-0-0-0.
Step 2: Set Locking and Unlocking Direction
- Make sure the door is open and in the unlocked position.
- Press the default Mastercode (0-0-0-0) and the Kwikset button.
Note: Each button represents two numbers. If you enter the code incorrectly, wait 10 seconds before trying again.
Tip: The keypad may or may not light up orange during this step. Continue to complete the step.
Upon successful completion, the latch bolt will extend and retract fully.
Tip: A successful step is indicated by two beeps and a green flashing keypad.
Step 3: Test the Lock
- Ensure the door is open and in the unlocked position.
- Press the default Mastercode (0-0-0-0) and the Kwikset button. The latch will extend fully and the keypad will turn off.
- Enter your User Code (1-2-3-4) and the Kwikset button. The latch will retract fully, and the keypad will turn off.
Step 4: Delete All User Codes
- Ensure the door is open and in the unlocked position.
- Enter the default Master Code (0-0-0-0-5) and the Kwikset button.
The lock will beep twice and the keypad will flash green.
Step 5: Program User Codes
- Ensure the door is open and in the unlocked position.
- Enter the default Master Code (0-0-0-0-1) and the Kwikset button.
- Enter a 4 to 10 digit User Code and press the Kwikset button.
The lock will beep twice and the keypad will flash green.
Step 6: Change the Default Mastercode
- Ensure the door is open and in the unlocked position.
- Enter the default Master Code (0-0-0-0-7) and the Kwikset button.
- Enter a new 4 to 10 digit code and press the Kwikset button.
The lock will beep twice and the keypad will flash green.
