Other Precautions
Adjusting the length of a metal bracelet requires special knowledge and experience. Therefore, if you need to adjust it, please contact the retail store where the watch was purchased. Attempting to adjust the length of a metal bracelet yourself may injure your hand or fingers, or cause you to lose bracelet parts.
Do not disassemble or modify the watch.
Keep watches out of the reach of children. Exercise extreme caution to prevent children from coming into direct contact with the watch, thereby protecting them from possible injuries, allergic reactions, or itching.
If your watch is in the form of a pendant or keychain, the strap or chain attached to the watch may damage your clothing, or injure your hand, neck, or other body parts.
ATTENTION: Diving Precautions
Never use the watch for diving with helium.
During dives, never perform any operations on the watch other than those specified in this manual.
Before using a dive watch, you must receive proper training in various types of diving, and acquire the necessary experience and skills for safe diving. Strictly adhere to established rules when diving.
WARNING: Diving Precautions
Do not rotate or pull out the crown when the watch is wet. Water may enter the watch.
If the inner surface of the glass becomes foggy with condensation, or if water droplets remain inside the watch for a long time, the water resistance of the watch is reduced. Consult the retail store where the watch was purchased or contact the SEIKO CUSTOMER SERVICE CENTER immediately.
Do not allow moisture, sweat, or dirt to remain on the watch for extended periods. The water resistance of the watch may be compromised due to the deterioration of the adhesive on the glass surface and the gasket, as well as rust formation on metal parts.
Remove the watch before taking a bath or visiting a sauna. Steam, soap, and certain compounds in hot springs can reduce the water resistance of the watch.
Order of Use
Case Construction
The bezel or protective outer case is securely fastened to the watch with set screws. Never loosen these set screws.
Characteristics
Water resistance for shallow diving (air). This watch can be used for extended scuba diving. (The watch cannot be used for saturation diving using helium gas.)
Solar charging function: The watch operates by electricity generated by converting light using a solar cell located under the dial. If the remaining energy is insufficient, it cannot operate properly. To charge sufficient electricity, place and store the watch in a well-lit place. (See 'Battery Charging Procedure' → Page 24, 'Reference Information on Charging Time' → Page 25, 'Power Source' → Page 31)
WARNING:
Never loosen the set screws that secure the bezel or protective outer case. Failure to do so may result in damage to the watch or further loosening of the screws. If you find that the set screws have loosened or the watch is malfunctioning, please contact the retail store where the watch was purchased or the SEIKO CUSTOMER SERVICE CENTER.
Pre-dive Checks (Observe the following instructions carefully)
- Correctness of time setting.
- Second hand moves in one-second intervals. If the second hand moves in two-second intervals or stops, place the dial under a light source to charge the battery. (See 'Battery Charging Procedure' → Page 24)
- Rotating bezel rotates smoothly (do not rotate the bezel too quickly or too slowly). (See 'Rotating Bezel Operation Procedure' → Page 18)
- Crown is fully screwed down. (See 'Screw-lock Crown' → Page 17)
- No visible cracks or scratches on the glass or strap.
- Bracelet is securely attached to the watch (using spring bars, clasps, or other parts).
WARNING: If any malfunction occurs with the watch, please contact the retail store where the watch was purchased or the SEIKO CUSTOMER SERVICE CENTER.
During Dive
Observe the following precautions.
- The watch can be used for shallow (air) diving within the water resistance range indicated on the dial.
- Be careful not to strike the watch against hard objects such as rocks.
- Do not operate the crown or buttons underwater.
- The rotation of the bezel may be slightly stiff in water; this is not a malfunction.
After Dive
Follow the watch care instructions below after diving.
Rinse the watch with fresh water to remove any sea salt residue, and wipe it dry to prevent rust. Do not pour running tap water directly onto the watch. First, pour a small amount of water into a bowl, then dip the watch into it and rinse.
WARNING: Depending on the environment where the dive watch was used, the movement of parts may be impaired, or internal parts of the watch, as well as the case or bracelet, may be damaged. We recommend regular servicing of the watch every 3 or 4 years.
Parts Identification and Their Names
Diagram Description: A circular watch face is shown with various components labeled numerically. The labels are:
- Minute hand
- Hour hand
- Second hand
- Date and Day of Week (See 'Setting Date (Day of Week)' → Page 21)
- Crown
- Rotating bezel (See 'Rotating Bezel Operation Procedure' → Page 18)
Note: Some models may not display the date and day of the week.
Screw-lock Crown
The screw-lock crown is equipped with a mechanism that securely locks the crown when not in use, preventing operational errors and enhancing water resistance.
- To wind the watch using the screw-lock crown, first unscrew the crown, then pull it out.
- After using the crown, be sure to lock it again.
[Unlocking the Crown]: Turn the crown counter-clockwise to unlock it. The crown can then be used.
[Locking the Crown]: Turn the crown clockwise, pressing it gently towards the watch case until the crown stops turning. Be careful when locking the crown to ensure the screw engages properly. Do not force the crown, as this may damage the screw hole in the case.
Rotating Bezel Operation
The rotating bezel can be used to measure elapsed time from the start of an event.
- At the start of an event (e.g., when you begin a dive), rotate the bezel so that the mark on the bezel aligns with the minute hand. Example: You start diving at 10:10.
- Observe the graduation on the rotating bezel that the minute hand points to. The graduation on the rotating bezel indicated by the minute hand corresponds to the elapsed time. Example: After 20 minutes have passed.
The rotating bezel is designed to rotate only counter-clockwise. Do not force it clockwise.
[Rotating Bezel with One-Way Rotation]: Because the remaining air supply in the tank is estimated based on the time elapsed since the start of the dive, the rotating bezel for dive watches is designed to rotate only counter-clockwise, so that the watch cannot indicate an elapsed time shorter than the actual elapsed time.
WARNING: Always check the remaining air supply in your tank before diving. During the dive, use the elapsed time indication on the rotating bezel solely as a reference.
Time and Date Setting
To set the date, refer to the 'Setting Date (Day of Week)' section → Page 21. Some models may not display the date and day of the week.
- Pull out the crown to the second click. The second hand stops.
- Turn the crown to set the time. To set the time accurately, advance the minute hand 4-5 minutes, then return it to the correct time.
- Push the crown back to its normal position according to the time signal.
For models with a screw-lock crown, unlock it before performing these operations and ensure it is locked after completing them.
Setting Date (Day of Week)
Models that display the date and day of the week are designed so that the date changes once every 24 hours. The date (day of the week) changes around midnight. If the AM/PM is set incorrectly, the date will change at noon.
WARNING: Do not set the date (day of the week) during the following time intervals. Changing the date during these periods may cause problems, such as the date not advancing to the next day, or may lead to damage.
- Models displaying the date: from 9:00 PM to 1:00 AM.
- Models displaying the date and day of the week: from 9:00 PM to 4:00 AM.
Manual Date Adjustment at the End of the Month
The date needs to be adjusted at the end of February and for months with 30 days.
Example: Setting the date to the 1st of a month following a 30-day month, when the watch shows '31' instead of '1'. Pull out the crown to the first click. Turn the crown to set the date to '1', then push the crown back to its normal position.
Some models display the date and day of the week in reverse order. For models with a screw-lock crown, ensure it is locked after performing these operations.
WARNING: Avoid changing the date during the following time intervals. This may lead to damage.
- Models displaying the date: from 9:00 PM to 1:00 AM.
- Models displaying the date and day of the week: from 9:00 PM to 4:00 AM.
Solar Charging Function
Battery Charging
Charging Procedure: To charge the watch, place the dial so that light falls on it.
To ensure optimal performance of the watch, always keep the battery charged. In the following situations, the watch's energy is likely to be depleted, causing the watch to stop:
- The watch is hidden under clothing sleeves.
- The watch is used or stored in conditions where it is not exposed to light for extended periods.
Caution: Be careful not to let the watch overheat during charging. (Operating temperature range is from 10°C to +60°C.) When you first start using the watch or restart it after it has stopped due to lack of charge, charge the watch sufficiently, referring to the table on Page 25.
Reference Information on Charging Time
When charging the watch, refer to the charging duration data provided below. The figures indicated for 'Time required for the watch to start moving at one-second intervals' represent an estimate of the time required to charge a stopped watch until it starts moving at constant one-second intervals when exposed to light. Even if the watch is partially charged for a shorter period, it will resume movement at one-second intervals. However, it may soon return to two-second interval movement. Use the charging times indicated in this column as an approximate guide for sufficient charging time.
The required charging time may vary slightly depending on the watch model.

Care and Maintenance
Daily Care
The watch requires careful daily maintenance.
- Do not wash the watch while the crown is pulled out.
- Wipe moisture, sweat, and dirt with a soft cloth.
- After exposure to sea water, rinse the watch with clean fresh water and wipe dry. Do not pour running tap water directly onto the watch. First, pour a small amount of water into a bowl, then dip the watch into it and rinse.
- If your watch is classified as 'not water-resistant' or 'water-resistant for everyday use', do not wash such watches. (See 'Characteristics and Type' → Page 29)
Rotate the crown periodically: To prevent corrosion of the crown, rotate it periodically. This also applies to the screw-lock crown. (See 'Screw-lock Crown' → Page 17)

Magnetic Field Resistance: See Pages 33 and 34.
Lumibrite
If your watch has Lumibrite coating: Lumibrite is a luminous paint that absorbs energy from sunlight and lighting fixtures in a short time and retains this energy to emit light in the dark. For example, if Lumibrite is exposed to light of over 500 lux for about 10 minutes, Lumibrite can emit light for 3-5 hours. However, as Lumibrite emits previously accumulated light energy, the brightness level of the emitted light gradually decreases over time. The duration of the luminous period may also vary slightly depending on factors such as the brightness of the place where the watch was exposed to light, and the distance from the light source to the watch.
In general, when moving from a bright place to a dark place, human eyes require some time to adapt to the darkness, making it difficult to distinguish objects at first. (Dark adaptation)
Lumibrite is a luminous paint that accumulates and emits light. This paint is safe for people and the environment, and does not contain toxic materials such as radioactive substances.
Conditions | Illuminance |
---|---|
Sunlight (Clear sky) | 100,000 lux |
Sunlight (Cloudy sky) | 10,000 lux |
Indoors (Daytime, outside window) | Over 3,000 lux |
Lighting (40 W fluorescent lamp) | 1,000-3,000 lux |
Lighting (40 W fluorescent lamp) | Less than 1,000 lux |

Power Source
This watch uses a rechargeable battery, which is different from ordinary batteries. Unlike an ordinary silver-oxide battery, periodic replacement of the rechargeable battery is not required. The capacity and charging efficiency of the battery may gradually decrease due to prolonged use or operating conditions. Furthermore, prolonged use may lead to a reduction in charging duration due to wear, contamination, deterioration of lubricating properties of mechanical components, etc. If performance deteriorates, contact a service center for repair.
ATTENTION: Notes Regarding Rechargeable Battery Replacement
- Do not remove the rechargeable battery from the watch. Replacement of the rechargeable battery requires professional knowledge and skills. For replacement of the rechargeable battery, please contact the retail store where the watch was purchased.
- Installing an ordinary silver-oxide battery may cause heat generation, potentially leading to explosion and fire.
ATTENTION: Notes on Charging the Watch
- When charging the watch, do not place it in close proximity to intense light sources (such as photographic lighting equipment, spotlights, and incandescent lamps), as the watch may overheat, leading to damage to internal components.
- When charging the watch under direct sunlight, do not place it in locations that easily heat up to high temperatures, such as a car dashboard.
- The temperature of the watch should never exceed 60°C.
Magnetic Field Resistance
Under the influence of magnetism from nearby objects, the watch may temporarily run fast, slow down, or stop. Diver's watches have magnetic field resistance equivalent to or exceeding that of Class 1 devices according to Japanese Industrial Standards (JIS).
DANGER:
Marking on Case Back | Usage Conditions |
---|---|
No Marking | Keep the watch more than 5 cm away from objects with magnetic fields. (JIS Class 1) |
⊕ | Keep the watch more than 1 cm away from objects with magnetic fields. (JIS Class 2) |
If the watch becomes magnetized and its accuracy decreases to a degree exceeding the nominal specifications for normal operating conditions, the watch needs to be demagnetized. If the watch loses accuracy due to magnetization, repair and demagnetization will be charged, even if it occurs within the warranty period.
Reason Why Magnetic Fields Affect Watches: The built-in motor is equipped with a magnet that can be affected by strong external magnetic fields.
Examples of Common Objects with Magnetic Fields That Can Affect Watches
Smartphone, tablet computer (speaker, magnetic cover), router, refrigerator, microwave oven, speaker, magnetic necklace, magnetic pillow.
Bracelet
The bracelet comes into direct contact with the skin and gradually accumulates sweat and dust. Therefore, without proper care, the bracelet may deteriorate faster, cause skin irritation, or stain clothing sleeves. For the watch to last a long time, careful maintenance is required.
Metal Bracelet
- If moisture, sweat, or dirt is not removed from the watch for a long time, it can cause rust to form even on stainless steel bracelets.
- Lack of care can lead to skin rash or cause yellowish or golden stains on long shirt sleeves.
- Wipe away moisture, sweat, and dirt with a soft cloth as soon as possible.
- To remove dirt around the bracelet's joint gaps, first rinse the bracelet in water, then clean it with a soft toothbrush. (Protect the watch case from water by wrapping it in a plastic bag, etc.) Clean it with a soft cloth.
- Some titanium bracelets use stainless steel pins for structural strength, which may develop rust. As rust forms, the pins may protrude or fall out of the bracelet, and the watch case may detach from the bracelet, or the clasp may stop opening. Protruding pins can cause injury. In such cases, stop wearing the watch and take it for repair.
Urethane Strap
- Urethane straps are susceptible to fading in light and can be damaged by solvents and high humidity. This is especially true for transparent, white, and light-colored straps, which easily absorb other colors, potentially leading to colored stains or discoloration.
- Wash away dirt in water and remove it with a dry cloth. (Protect the watch case from water by wrapping it in a plastic bag, etc.)
- If the strap loses flexibility, replace it with a new one. If you continue to use the strap in this condition, it may crack or become brittle over time.
Silicone Strap
- Due to the characteristics of the material, this strap is easily soiled, can become stained, or discolored.
- Wipe the strap with a damp cloth or wipes to remove dirt.
- Unlike straps made of other materials, cracks in the strap may gradually turn into tears. Avoid contact of the strap with sharp objects.
Notes Regarding Skin Irritation and Allergies: Skin irritation from the strap can occur due to various factors, such as allergies to metals or skin, reaction to friction, dust, or the strap itself. Adjust the strap so that there is a slight gap between it and your wrist, allowing for proper air circulation.
Notes Regarding Bracelet Length: When wearing the watch, leave enough of a gap so that you can slip a finger between the bracelet and your wrist.
How to Adjust the Bracelet for Diving
If your watch's metal bracelet has a dive adjustment feature, its length can be easily changed. This is very convenient when wearing the watch over a wetsuit or winter clothing.
- Lift the clasp so that it is at approximately a 90° angle, then press it down further by about 20° and hold it lightly. Be careful not to press the clasp with excessive force. You may feel slight resistance, but only light force is required.
- Pull the bracelet from the 6 o'clock side of the watch along the curved line of the bracelet to extend the slider. Only light force is required for this operation. Be careful not to pull the bracelet out forcefully. The slider can be extended by approximately 30 mm. Be careful not to extend the slider beyond this distance.
- Press the button to lift the clasp, releasing the buckle, and put the watch on your wrist.
- First, close the clasp (4-1), then the slider (4-2).
- Hold the bracelet on both sides and adjust the slider length so that the bracelet fits comfortably around your wrist.
Dive Extension Operation
If your watch's metal bracelet has a dive extension function, the bracelet length can be easily adjusted. This is very convenient when wearing the watch over a wetsuit or winter clothing.
- Lift the clasp.
- Press the button to open the clasp. After opening the clasp, press the slider again to return it to its normal position.
- Open the two-section dive extension in the direction indicated by the arrow. Opening the extension requires some force, and you will hear a click when it opens.
- Slide the top cover of the dive extension in the direction indicated by the arrow, then pull it upwards to fully extend the two-section dive extension.
- Put the watch on your wrist, then first close the clasp (5-1) and then the slider (5-2).
To fold the dive extension, perform the procedure described above in reverse. When the two-section dive extension is fully folded, you will hear the same click as when it is extended.
