This document provides the regular installation and programming procedures for the Fortin EVO-KEY interface module. The module is designed for the Scion xD vehicle, model years 2008-2010.

To update the firmware version and configure options, use the FLASH LINK UPDATER or FLASH LINK MOBILE tool, which are sold separately. ?
Mandatory Installation Requirements
Hood Pin Installation: The hood pin switch is mandatory and must be installed. This is crucial if the vehicle can be remote started with the hood open, as it serves as an essential security element. ?
Installer Qualification: This module must be installed by a qualified technician. Incorrect connections can cause permanent damage to the vehicle. ⚠️
Wiring Connection Guide
This section details the wiring connections for the EVO-KEY module. Refer to the diagrams for specific pin assignments and connector locations.
Main Module Connections (EVO-KEY):
- A1: (-) GROUND OUT WHILE RUNNING
- A3: (-) KEY SENSE
- A5: (~) RX
- A6: (~) TX
- RS1: Ground (-)
- RS2: (+) 12V BATTERY
- RS3: (-) PARKING LIGHTS
- RS5: (+) ACCESSORY
- RS5b: (+) IGNITION 2
- RS6: (+) IGNITION 1
- RS7: (+) STARTER
- RS12: (+/-) TACHOMETER
- RS13: (+) FOOT BRAKE
- RS14: (Data Link connection for bypass module)
Data Link Connection: The data link connection is always required when using the bypass module. For connections without the data link, specific wiring modifications (cutting wires) may be necessary as indicated in the diagrams.
Connector Descriptions and Locations:
- White 2-pin connector: Typically located at the steering column.
- Black 7-pin connector: Typically located at the transponder connector.
- White 13-pin connector: Typically located at the light switch harness.
- White 8-pin connector: Typically located at the ignition harness.
Programming Procedure
Follow these steps to program the EVO-KEY module and its key bypass function.
- Step 1: Press and hold the programming button on the module.
- Step 2: Reinsert the 4-Pin (Data Link) connector.
- Step 3: Release the programming button when the LED on the module turns solid RED. If the LED is not solid RED, disconnect the 4-Pin connector and return to Step 1.
- Step 4: Insert the required remaining connectors.
- Step 5: Insert one functional key into the ignition barrel. Do not turn the key ON. The RED LED will flash rapidly 10 times, indicating the key bypass is programmed.
- Step 6: If the LED is solid RED after inserting the key, disconnect the 4-Pin connector and return to Step 1.
- Step 7: Remove the key from the ignition barrel.
The module is now programmed. Use the remote of the remote starter or security system to test all supported features to ensure proper programming.
