PLATSA Open Shelving Unit
Important Safety Information
WARNING! Furniture tip-over can cause serious or fatal crushing injuries. To prevent tip-over, this furniture must be used with the wall attachment device(s) provided. Screw(s) and plug(s) for the wall are not included. Use screw(s) and plug(s) suitable for your walls. If you are uncertain, seek professional advice. Read and follow each step of the instruction carefully.
Parts and Tools
Before starting assembly, identify all parts and tools. Ensure you have the following:
- Screws (114142): 8x
- Cam lock fasteners (194732): 4x
- Cam lock connectors (10044727): 2x
- Cam lock screws (10044713): 4x
- Assembly tool (100092): 1x
- Wall bracket (10046332): 1x
- Long screws for stacking (108736): 4x
- Shelf support screws (152059): 4x
Tools required (not included): Screwdriver, spirit level, tape measure. Two people are recommended for assembly. If unsure, contact IKEA customer support.
Assembly Steps
Step 1: Attach Side Panels to Base
Connect the two side panels to the base panel. Insert four (4x) screws (114142) through the pre-drilled holes in the base into the side panels. Use the assembly tool (100092) to tighten.
Step 2: Attach Back Panel
Slide the back panel into the grooves on the side panels. Insert two (2x) cam lock fasteners (194732) into the designated holes on the side panels and turn them clockwise to secure the back panel. Ensure a firm connection [✔️]. Do not overtighten [❌].
Step 3: Attach Top Panel
Position the top panel onto the assembled frame.
Step 4: Secure Top Panel
Secure the top panel by inserting four (4x) screws (114142) through the top panel into the side panels. Use the assembly tool (100092) to tighten.
Step 5: Attach Second Side Panel and Secure Back
Attach the second side panel to the base and top. Secure the back panel by inserting two (2x) cam lock fasteners (194732) into the designated holes on the second side panel and turn them clockwise.
Step 6: Attach Base
Attach the base panel to the bottom of the unit. Insert two (2x) cam lock screws (10044713) into the bottom of the side panels. Insert two (2x) cam lock connectors (10044727) into the base panel and turn them to lock onto the screws. A 'Click!' sound indicates a secure connection [✔️]. Ensure correct orientation [❌].
Wall Mounting (Crucial for Safety)
WARNING: To prevent serious injury or death from furniture tip-over, this unit MUST be permanently secured to the wall using the provided anti-tip devices.
1. Attach the wall bracket piece (10044713) to the back of the shelving unit using four (4x) screws (10044713).
2. Secure the main wall bracket (10046332) to your wall. Use screws and plugs appropriate for your wall type (not included). If unsure, consult a professional.
3. Slide the shelving unit onto the wall bracket. Ensure it is firmly and securely attached.
The unit can be placed on the floor or mounted to the wall.
Stacking Units
Multiple PLATSA units can be stacked vertically to create a taller storage solution.
The maximum total height for stacked units is 300 cm (118 7/64 inches).
To stack units:
- Place one unit on top of another.
- Connect the units using four (4x) long screws (108736) inserted from the top unit into the bottom unit.
- For added stability, insert four (4x) shelf support screws (152059) into the designated holes between the stacked units.
