Product Overview
VIVOTEK is proud to introduce VAST, the most comprehensive central management software designed for managing all VIVOTEK IP surveillance products with intuitive functions and numerous features. It supports hundreds of cameras and stations in a hierarchical structure of system for monitoring, recording, playback, and event trigger management with ease-of-use and efficient control.
Most particularly, the newest fully scalable feature VAST Matrix offers an hundreds of number of live views for monitoring. Together with simultaneous 16-channel playback facilitating quick & easy browsing from multiple stations, it performs remote management with a large scale of the server & client structure and constitutes a robust system for stores, banking, and public space.

Key Architectural Concepts & Features
Truly Open Platform with Hierarchical Management Architecture
The powerful management scalability of VAST makes it suitable for managing from the small-scale to the large-scale surveillance systems. ST7501 is VIVOTEK free-standard recording software which can manage up to 32-CH simultaneous monitoring and recording.
Diagram Description: The "Truly Open Platform with Hierarchical Management Architecture" diagram illustrates VIVOTEK's scalable system. It shows a VIVOTEK Headquarter in Taiwan managing VAST and ST7501 systems, which in turn connect to VIVOTEK Branch Offices (e.g., in USA) and Subsidiaries, each with their own ST7501 servers and VIVOTEK Network Cameras. This demonstrates centralized management across distributed locations, offering benefits like remote access, easy cost-effective integration, future-proof scalability, flexibility, and distributed server loading.
Remote Access via Client/Server Architecture
Users can access VAST via the Internet using LiveClient and Playback programs or web browsers. This client/server architecture ensures convenient remote management.
Diagram Description: The "Remote Access via Client/Server Architecture" diagram shows a typical client-server model. Multiple clients (Client A, Client B) connect to a central Server, which manages VIVOTEK Network Cameras. This allows users to log in remotely to access and control the surveillance system.
Effective Event Management
The VAST LiveClient supports comprehensive event management, allowing users to quickly respond to any emergencies. The VAST Playback module offers an array of event search engines for retrieving video clips from the database of recorded videos based on different search criteria.
Diagram Description: The "Effective Event Management" workflow details the system's response to events. It lists various "Trigger sources" such as Motion, Temperature, Tampering, DI/O, IR, PIR, IVA, Video lost, Recording error, Recording status, Substation connection status, Storage connection status, Storage capacity status, License status, Network status, and Virtual memory status. When an event is triggered, the system can perform "Action settings" including sending an Email, starting recording, moving to a preset location, setting Digital Output (DO), sending a GSM short message, or sending a CGI command. These actions can be scheduled on a Daily, Weekly, Monthly, or Yearly basis.
Fully Scalable VAST Matrix
The VAST Matrix is an extremely useful tool for displaying multiple monitors, helping users to efficiently construct a real-time video wall in a control center. It makes VAST an integral part of a powerful central management system.
Diagram Description: The "Fully Scalable VAST Matrix" section highlights its utility for video walls. The "System Structure of VAST Matrix" diagram shows how a VAST Server (Root Station) can manage multiple VAST/ST7501 Servers (Sub-stations), which connect to VIVOTEK Network Cameras. These feeds are then distributed to "VAST Matrix Recipient 1" and "VAST Matrix Recipient 2", or directly to a "Video Wall". This architecture allows users to monitor hundreds of channels with complete functionality, even displaying up to 64 channels simultaneously on dual monitors through VAST LiveClient.
Intuitive User Interface
PiP (Picture-in-Picture)
PiP is an advanced function for users to simultaneously view a "Global View" and a "Region of Interest (ROI)" for live monitoring. This is very useful when viewing high-megapixel video. The digital zoom-in function allows focus on the interested area, representing details of megapixel video. Moreover, the multi-touch mode is a user-friendly interface for users to easily digital zoom in a view with two fingers upon the multi-touch monitors.
Diagram Description: The PiP interface shows a main "Global View" and a smaller inset window for "Region of Interest (ROI)". Users can perform "Digital Zoom In" and "Digital Zoom Out" within the ROI. This allows for detailed inspection of specific areas while maintaining an overview of the entire scene.
E-map
VAST LiveClient supports an intuitive E-map function which allows users to upload E-maps for overall devices management. The whole system architecture is thus visualized through e-map links.
