Installation Instructions
- Temporarily remove the rear light clusters. For Altea/Toledo/Leon: remove the inner trim panel and the plastic nut from the back of each light. Remove two fixings through the plastic trim to the inner side, then pull the light clusters rearward.
- Temporarily disconnect the fog lights, reverse light, and any fitted reversing sensors.
- Remove the rear bumper:
- ALTEA: Eight fixings along the bottom edge, five fixings around each wheel arch (top fixing is below the trim), and two fixings under each light cluster. Pull bumper rearward.
- TOLEDO: Seven fixings along the bottom edge, five fixings around each wheel arch (top fixing is below the trim), and two fixings under each light cluster. Pull bumper rearward.
- LEON: Seven fixings along the bottom edge, four fixings around each wheel arch (top fixing is below the trim), and three fixings under each light cluster. Pull bumper out at sides.
- Cut the bumper as shown in the sketch and trim if required to suit.
- Remove the bumper beam and replace existing bolts to prevent water damage.
- Locate Item A1 (Handed Side Arms) into the open ends of each chassis member. Using Item D (M12 x 40 Bolts) with Item F1 (12 x 40 Flat Washers), loosely bolt through existing holes in each chassis member. (Existing holes may be covered in tape.)
- Using Item D (M12 x 40 Bolts) and Item F (12 x 25 Flat Washers), bolt Item A (Crossmember) to Items A1 (Handed Side Arms).
- Using Item C (M12 x 25 Bolts) with Item F (12 x 25 Flat Washers), and Item E (M12 x 22 Bolts) with Item F (12 x 25 Flat Washers), bolt Item B (Detachable Housing) and Item G (Flip Up Socket Plate) to Item A (Crossmember).
- Fully tighten all nuts and bolts, ensuring the Towbar is rigid, square, and secure.
- Refit the bumper and light clusters.
Diagram Descriptions
Diagram 1: Parts Identification and Vehicle Key
This diagram illustrates the towbar assembly components and provides a key for vehicle-specific bolt hole usage. Components labeled include the Crossmember (A), Handed Side Arms (A1), Detachable Housing (B), and Flip Up Socket Plate (G), along with various bolts and washers (C, D, E, F, F1). A key indicates which bolt holes are used for different vehicle applications: Altea (holes 1-3), Leon (holes 1-3), Toledo (holes 1-2), and Yeti (holes 1-3). Colored dots in the diagram visually represent these vehicle-specific bolt hole selections.
Diagram 2: Bumper Cut Dimensions
This diagram shows the necessary bumper cut dimensions for different vehicle models. It features a central 'CENTRE LINE' and provides specific measurements for 'X' (the depth of the bumper cut) for various vehicles: Leon (70mm), Altea (90mm), Yeti (120mm), Toledo (50mm), and Altea XL (180mm).
