Grounding Instructions:
This product must be grounded. If it should malfunction or break down, grounding provides a path of least resistance for electric current to reduce the risk of electric shock. This product is equipped with a cord having an equipment-grounding conductor and a grounding plug. The plug must be plugged into an appropriate outlet that is properly installed and grounded in accordance with all local codes and ordinances.
DANGER: Improper connection of the equipment-grounding conductor can result in a risk of electric shock. If you are uncertain as to whether the product is properly grounded, consult a qualified electrician or service technician. Do not modify the plug provided with the product. If it will not fit the outlet, have a proper outlet installed by a qualified electrician.
This product is for use on a nominal 120-volt circuit and has a grounding plug that looks like the plug illustrated in Figure (A). An adapter similar to that shown in illustrations (B) and (C) may be used to connect this plug to a 2-pole receptacle as shown in Figure B if a properly grounded outlet is not available. The temporary adapter should be used only until a properly grounded outlet (Figure A) can be installed by a qualified electrician. The green or similar colored ear-like lug extending from the adapter must be connected to a permanent ground, such as a properly grounded outlet box cover. When the adapter is used, it must be held in place by a metal screw.
Grounding Methods:
- Figure (A): Grounded outlet.
- Figure (B): Adapter with grounding screw.

Temporary adapters are not permitted in Canada.
Getting Started
The Human Touch massage chair requires simple installation (no tools). Just attach the back pad, seat pad, and headrest cushion – and you’re ready!
Unpack the Product:
- Chair
- Back Pad
- Seat Pad
- Headrest Cushion
1. Unpack the Chair: Remove all packing material from the chair. Pull towards the backrest to unfold the chair into an upright position. The backrest locks into position automatically.
2. Install the Back Pad: Secure the flap of the back pad to the top of the backrest. Tuck the two lower flaps under the bottom of the backrest. Secure each side flap to each side of the backrest. All flaps are secured with hook-and-loop (velcro) fasteners.
3. Install the Seat Pad: Position yourself on the right side of the chair. Pull the footrest lever to extend the footrest into a horizontal position. Pull the footrest release handle, located on the right side of the footrest, and then rotate the footrest away from the chair until it is in a vertical position. Secure the seat pad to the back of the seat with hook-and-loop. Fold the flap toward the front of the seat pad around the chair frame with hook-and-loop.
4. Install the Headrest Cushion: Fold the flap on the back of the headrest up and over the top of the chair. Attach the headrest cushion to the flap with hook-and-loop. Adjust the height of the headrest cushion for maximum comfort.
Operation
Using the Human Touch massage chair is easy! Sit down, adjust the backrest and footrest/calf massager to your desired position. The Human Touch massage chair will help you feel better from head to toe, with a variety of massage techniques under your control. It’s the perfect way to relax and refresh.
1. Power On: Connect the power cord to a 120-volt power source. Place the main power switch (located in the center bottom of the backrest) to the ON position. ?
2. Adjust Footrest Height: While seated in the chair, pull the footrest lever (located on the right side of the chair) to raise the footrest to a comfortable position. Release the lever.
3. Adjust Backrest: Use the Recline and Incline functions of the remote control to adjust the backrest angle for maximum comfort.
Note: The chair makes a slight pause when its gears engage following a change in direction of the backrest or footrest/calf massager. This is perfectly normal.
To lower the chair for moving, press the backrest release lever, located on the rear of the chair, and then push the backrest down onto the seat.
FOR A FOOT OR CALF MASSAGE:
1. Deploy the Footrest/Calf Massager: Pull the footrest release handle (located on the right side). For a calf massage, rotate the footrest away from the chair until you hear it click, with the footrest/calf massager facing upwards. Do not force the footrest rotation beyond the click. Excessive force could damage the mechanism. For a foot massage, rotate the footrest away from the chair until the footrest/calf massager faces upwards. Do not rotate the footrest so far that it clicks; the footrest should move freely for a foot massage.
2. Insert Your Legs or Feet.
Do not stand or sit on the footrest/calf massager.
Before exiting the chair, always lower the footrest. Lift the footrest lever (located on the right side of the chair) and then use your legs to lower the footrest to a vertical position.
Take Control
Power Indicator: Lights up to indicate the main power switch is ON. ?
Three Automatic Massage Programs offer a combination of massage techniques designed to meet specific needs:
- P1 - Sore Muscle Relief: Revitalizes the body while relieving sore muscles. You will feel refreshed, invigorated, and tension-free.
- P2 - Stress Relief Therapy: Refreshes the senses by gently eliminating stubborn knots and tension points. Promotes deep relaxation after work or play.
- P3 - Back Wellness: Keeps aches at bay with a personalized massage that melts away lumbar pain and tension.
Refer to the back of the remote for a convenient descriptive index of the Automatic Programs.
Manual Massage Techniques: Four manual massage techniques allow you to personalize your massage.
- Zone: Dedicates the massage to a six-inch area. Use the position adjustment buttons to focus the massage on the desired area.
- Foot/Calf Massage: Press this button to cycle between automatic speeds (alternating automatically), high, and low speeds.
- Stop: Stops the massage and positions the massage rollers at the top of the backrest.
- Range: Customizes the vertical massage reach.
- Power Recline: Adjusts the backrest angle.
- Position Adjustment: Use these buttons in conjunction with stationary massage modes to move the massage rollers to the desired position on the backrest. You can press these buttons before or after selecting the massage mode.
When not using the remote control, keep it in its convenient storage pocket on the left side of the chair, so it doesn't get in your way.
Now, select a massage mode. The Human Touch massage chair allows you to personalize your massage using a wide variety of massage techniques. Choose from three stationary massage modes and a rolling massage, or combine them. Use the Range button to customize your vertical massage reach, or the Zone and Position buttons to target a specific area (see opposite page). You can also let the chair take control: choose one of the three automatic programs, which alternate between massage modes and target different areas of your back. No matter how you use it, Robotic Massage Technology™ offers optimal massage flexibility and benefits.
Massage Techniques:
Massage Mode | What it Does | Benefits |
---|---|---|
Kneading | Your back is kneaded by small circular movements applied to each side of your spine. | This technique relieves tension and pain by lifting and stretching muscles. It improves blood circulation by bringing essential nutrients to your spine area. |
Percussion | Rapid alternating taps along the spine stimulate the muscles and joints of the lumbar region. This massage replicates the percussion massage technique used in sports medicine for deep muscle therapy. | Loosens the joints of the lumbar region and relieves pressure from the spine, invigorating the entire back. |
Rolling | A gentle rolling motion massages along your back, near your spine. | Warms and loosens your muscles, preparing your back for a deeper massage. This massage relieves muscle tension, improves blood circulation, and relaxes the back. |
Compression | Pressure is applied to the back muscles and lumbar joints, alternating between taps and a gentle swaying motion. This massage replicates a technique used in sports medicine and by chiropractors. | Stretches and applies pressure to deep muscle tissue, forcing it to relax, while the swaying motion loosens the spine joints. This technique aids in the repair of muscles and joints following exertion from exercise, long hours spent hunched over a desk, or high stress levels. It can improve overall mobility and posture. |
Customize Your Massage Intensity
The massage softening pads soften the intensity of the massage. For a more aggressive massage, remove the massage softening pads.
Steps to Adjust Softening Pads:
- Flip the headrest over the backrest of the chair.
- Detach the upper portion of the hook-and-loop fastener strap from the backrest of the chair.
- Open the zipper located on the back of the backrest cushion.
- Insert or remove the massage softening pad as needed.
- Close the zipper.
- Reattach the upper portion of the backrest cushion to the chair using the hook-and-loop fastener straps.
- Flip the headrest forward towards the front of the chair.
You can purchase additional massage softening pads from Human Touch for an additional fee.
Care and Maintenance
To ensure your chair functions well and maintains its appearance, please follow these easy care instructions.
Cleaning:
- Ensure the power cord is unplugged from the wall outlet before cleaning.
- Do not use benzene, thinner, or other solvent agents to clean your massage chair.
- Remove dust from the backrest and armrests using a vacuum cleaner.
- If the backrest or armrests become soiled, wipe them with a damp cloth, then dry them with a dry cloth.
- Common furniture detergents can be used to remove stubborn stains.
- Use only a dry cloth to clean the control system or the area around the power button. Never clean the control system or power button with a damp cloth.
Fabric Care:
To keep your Human Touch product in optimal condition, dust it frequently or vacuum it using a soft brush attachment. Faux suede products can also be brushed with a suede brush. Wipe with a slightly damp cloth as needed. For tougher stains on non-leather products, use a mild detergent mixed with water. Leather products should be wiped occasionally with a leather furniture cleaning solution.
CAUTION: Before cleaning the entire surface of the product with a cleaning solution, be sure to test it on a small, hidden portion of the product to ensure it does not cause discoloration.
Maintenance and Repair:
- The mechanics of this chair have been designed and constructed to require no maintenance. No periodic lubrication or servicing is necessary.
- Your chair should only be serviced by an authorized service center.
Storage:
- When the chair will not be used for an extended period, it is recommended to coil the power cord and place the chair in a location free from dust and humidity.
- Do not store the chair near a flame or heat source. Do not expose this appliance to direct sunlight for extended periods. This could cause discoloration or damage.
Miscellaneous:
- Do not insert foreign objects between the massage nodules or into the motor housing.
- Take care not to overload the unit.
CAUTION: This chair is equipped with a thermal reset protection device. This is an additional safety feature installed to protect you against overheating of the chair. If the chair suddenly stops and you cannot restart it, turn the main power switch, located on the rear of the chair, to the OFF position. Wait at least 30 minutes before turning it back on. If you do not turn the chair off, it may restart unexpectedly once the device cools down.
