- Connect the product to the ground (DIN rail) for EMC compliance.
- Provide standby protection according to national and international regulations.
- Install an appropriate electrical disconnecting device.
- Use only the supplied connector accessory (product reference: EMS59010).
- Verify connections match recommended cables before powering up.
- Use appropriate tools for cabling (suitable screwdriver, crimped end-pieces, etc.).
- Strip wires appropriately before connecting them.
Failure to comply with these instructions can cause material damage.
Installation
Installing the enclosure
The HU250 module is fastened to a DIN rail. No tool is needed for mounting. Clip it to fasten as shown in the diagrams.
Diagrams show the process of clipping the HU250 module onto a DIN rail and onto a PS50 enclosure.
External dimensions of the HU250 enclosure are approximately 90mm (width) x 140mm (height) x 104.5mm (depth).
Installation of a modem box
Modem boxes can be installed or interchanged easily and quickly in the HU250. To install a modem box:
- Install the modem box in the required slot (port 1 or 2).
- Press the front panel to insert the rear panel connector into the HU250.
- Tighten the front panel screw with a screwdriver to fasten the modem box.
To withdraw a modem box, reverse the procedure. Note: Changing a modem box requires configuration changes via the Easergy Builder tool. Refer to the Easergy Builder user guide.
Operation
Indicator lamps on the front panel show operating states. Buttons allow user actions. The table below summarizes indications and actions:

2G/3G or 3G/4G Modem
This modem allows insertion of a SIM card into one of two slots. GPS and GSM antenna connectors and SIM cards are accessible on the front. Mount the GPS antenna to the substation wall (preferably outside) and connect its cable to the 'GPS' connector. Insert SIM card(s) with the HU250 switched off. The GSM antenna is internal and requires no outside mounting.
DANGER: HAZARD OF BURNING, ELECTRIC SHOCK, EXPLOSION OR ELECTRIC ARC
- Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and follow safety procedures and local installation standards.
- Switch off power to the HU250 and connected devices before handling or replacement.
- Use a power-off check to ensure the device is properly switched off.
Failure to comply with these indications will result in death or serious injury.
Power Supply
The HU250 has two internal power supply connectors that facilitate serial connections and power supply looping between modules. No strapping is necessary. This architecture ensures continuity of power supply. Connect the HU250 as shown in the diagram for power supply loopback benefits.
Diagram shows power supply connections between HU250, SC150, and PS50 modules.
Parameters Setup
Installation of the HU250 module does not require parameter setup. This is performed during commissioning/configuration stages. Refer to the User Manual and Expert Guide for details.
Identification
The serial number format is: Year - Week - Work order (e.g., 15340265).
Grounding
The DIN rail must be grounded and metallic. If installed on a PS50 module, grounding is performed on the PS50's power supply input, not the DIN rail. Refer to the PS50 Installation Guide.
