Safety Instructions
[!] Beware:
- The use of this device is allowed on standing bodies of water, garden ponds or swimming ponds and their surrounding areas only with a fault current protection-switch with a triggering nominal current of up to 30 mA (according to VDE 0100 Article 702 and 738).
- The device is not suitable for use in swimming pools, paddling pools, and other bodies of water in which during operation people or animals reside. The operation of the device during the stay of people and animals in the danger zone is not allowed. Ask your electrician.
- The device is not intended for use by people (including children) with impaired or limited physical, sensory and mental abilities, or lack of experience and/or real knowledge, unless they are supervised by a person responsible for their safety or if they follow the instructions made by their supervisor. Children should be supervised to make sure that they do not play with the device.
[Attention]:
- Run a visual inspection of the device before every use. Do not use the device if the safety appliances are damaged or worn out. Never override safety regulations.
- Use the device exclusively according to the intended purpose stated in the instructions for use.
- You are responsible for the safety of the working environment.
- If the cable or the plug is damaged because of external influences, the cable must not be repaired! It must be replaced with a new one. This work can be carried out only by an electrician.
- The voltage indicated on the type plate of the device of 230 V AC must correspond to the existent mains voltage.
- Never lift, carry, or suspend the device by using the power cable.
- Ensure the electrical connection is placed in a flood-proof area and is protected from moisture.
- Before working on the garden pump disconnect the appliance by taking the plug out of the socket.
- Avoid exposing the pump to a direct water jet.
- The user is responsible for the compliance with local safety/ installing regulations. If necessary, ask an electrician.
- Consequential damage arising from flooded rooms caused by dysfunctions of the appliance must be avoided by means of the appropriate measures (e.g., by installing an alarm system, a reserve pump).
- In case of malfunction the repair work can be carried out only by a qualified electrician.
- The pump must not run dry or have an entirely closed intake. The warranty is no longer valid if the damage is caused by dry running.
- The submersible pump must not be used for swimming pools.
- The pump cannot be employed for portable water circuits.
[Warning]: Carefully read all the safety guidelines and the instructions. Non-compliance with the safety rules and regulations can lead to an electric shock, fire, and/or serious injury. Keep the instructions and the safety guidelines in a safe place in case you need them in the future.
Stability
- The max. temperature of the conveyed water should not exceed +35 °C in permanent operation.
- The transport of explosive, flammable or gassing fluids is not allowed.
- The wastewater pump must not be used for conveying other fluids, certainly not for motor fuels, cleaning agents and other chemical products!
Electrical Connection
- The electrical connection needs to be with a safety socket 230 V ~ 50 Hz. Fuse protection at least 10 A.
- The pump is turned on and off by means of the built-in on/off switch. The indicator lamp inside the switch lights up if the engine is started.
- The engine is protected against overloading or blocking by means of a built-in thermal motor protection. In case of overheating the pump is turned off automatically due to the overheat protection and after its cooling, the pump is automatically started.
Installation
The pump must be installed as follows: either in a fixed position with rigid fixed pipeline or in a fixed position with flexible pipeline.
[Attention]:
- When installing the pump make sure that the pump does not hang up on the pipeline or on its electric cable. The submersible pump must be hung on the handle provided for this purpose or be laid on a pump chamber ground. To ensure the proper function of the pump, the base of the pump chamber must always be mud-free or free of dirt.
- If the water level is low, the mud on the chamber ground can dry up quickly and impede the pump from running. For this reason, it is necessary that the submersible pump is regularly checked (by carrying out a start-up test).
- The float switch is set in such a way so that the pump can start up immediately.
[Note]: The pump chamber should have at least the following dimensions: 40 × 40 × 50 cm; thus, the float switch can move freely.
Power Supply
The submersible pump is provided with a safety plug. The pump is suitable for being connected to an earthed (grounded) socket with 230 V ~ 50 Hz. Make sure that the socket outlet is sufficiently fused (min. 6 A) and in perfect condition. Insert the pump plug in the socket outlet and the pump is ready for running.
[Caution]: If the power cable or the plug is damaged due to external factors the cable must not be repaired but replaced with a new one! This work can be carried out only by an electrician.
Application
This pump is used as cellar pump (basement pump). Installed into a chamber the pump is protected against flooding. You can also use the pump everywhere, where water must be pumped, for households, farming, gardening, sanitary sectors, and many other areas.
Commissioning
After having read the operating manual thoroughly and understood it, you can commission the pump:
- Check if the pump lies on the chamber ground.
- Check if the pressure line is installed properly.
- Make sure that the electrical connection amounts to 230 V ~ 50 Hz.
- Check if the socket outlet is in a proper condition.
- Make sure that neither moisture nor water reaches the power supply.
- The pump must not run dry.
Maintenance Instructions
The submersible pump is a maintenance-free quality product and is subject to strict final inspections. For a long operating life, we recommend regular checks and maintenance.
[Attention]:
- Before every maintenance the pump must be switched off, disconnect the pump from the power supply.
- The pump should be rinsed with clean water after every use.
- By static installation we recommend checking the function of the float switch every 3 months.
- Remove the lint and the fibrous particles which have accumulated themselves in the pump housing with a water jet.
- Every 3 months remove the mud from the chamber ground and clean the chamber walls/surface.
- Clean the float switch with clear water.
Cleaning the Paddle Wheel
In case of strong dirt deposits in the pump chamber the lower part of the pump must be dismantled as follows:
- Remove the fastening screws of the suction strainer.
- Dismantle the suction strainer from the pump housing.
- Clean the paddle wheel with clear water.
- The assembly follows in reverse order.
[Attention]: The pump cannot be propped up against the paddle wheel or placed on it!
Adjustment of the On/Off Switching Point
Automatic operation: The on/off switching point is infinitely variable by means of height adjustment of the float switch. For this purpose, the screw must be previously loosened. The switching differential can be universally adjusted by extending or shortening the floating cable (adjustment of length).
Before operation, please check the following points:
- The float switch must be installed in such a way that the height of the switching point on and off can be easily reached, requiring little expenditure of effort. Check this by placing the pump into a container with water, then carefully lift the float switch with your hand and then lower it again. In doing so you can see if the pump switches on or off.
- Please make sure that the distance between the float switch head and the cable holder is not too short. By insufficient distance the proper function is not guaranteed.
[Warning]: Please ensure when adjusting the float switch that it does not touch the bottom before the pump is turned off. Attention! Risk of dry running!
Troubleshooting
Dysfunction | Possible Causes | Solution |
---|---|---|
The pump does not start. | No voltage supply Float switch does not function. | Check voltage supply. Put float switch in a higher position |
The pump does not pump. | Suction strainer is blocked. Pressure hose is kinked. | Clean suction strainer with jet of water. Remove kink. |
The pump does not turn off. | The float switch cannot sink. | Position pump correctly on chamber ground. |
Insufficient pump flow rate. | Suction strainer is blocked. Pump capacity is reduced due to dirty and sanding water. | Clean suction strainer. Clean pump and replace worn parts. |
The pump switches off after a short running time. | Motor protection shuts down the pump because the water is too dirty. Water temperature is too high, Motor protection shuts down. | Disconnect pump and clean it together with pump chamber. Make sure that water temperature does not exceed 35 °C. |
