General Safety Precautions
- Wear protective gloves when handling metal parts due to potentially sharp edges.
- Ensure the structure where the appliance is mounted has sufficient load-bearing capacity.
- Only use original Novy parts for replacements.
- Respect the recommended installation height for optimal performance.
- The appliance or its supporting structure should cover the hob for optimal vapor absorption.
- Ensure the hob is not larger than the appliance or its structure.
- This appliance is for household use only and must not be used outdoors.
- Check the appliance and fittings for damage before installation. Do not install if damaged.
- Novy is not liable for damage due to incorrect assembly, connection, use, or operation.
- Installation and electrical connection must be performed by a qualified professional.
- Safety is only guaranteed with expert installation according to the manual.
- Installation is recommended with at least two people.
Installation Requirements
- The ceiling unit can be built into plates with a thickness of 18-35mm.
- Do not mount directly into gypsum board; use reinforcement for clamping screws.
- Ensure a socket is near the ceiling unit for easy power disconnection.
- The ceiling must have sufficient load-bearing capacity due to the appliance's weight.
- Recommended mounting height:
- Electric or ceramic hob: min. 600 mm, max. 1600 mm.
- Gas or induction hob: min. 650 mm, max. 1600 mm.
Electrical Connection
- Connect only to an earthed socket (230V – 50Hz).
- Ensure connection to an earth cable for safety.
- The appliance must be disconnectable from the power supply at any point.
- Position the socket for easy plug insertion.
- Do not use extension cords.
- Never switch on a faulty appliance. Contact Novy service for repairs.
- Moisture ingress can cause electric shock; avoid high-pressure or steam cleaners.
Air Supply and Ventilation
- Ensure adequate air supply; insufficient air reduces efficiency by 50% or more.
- Avoid using the hood with combustion systems (gas, oil, wood, coal heaters, etc.) without adequate ventilation, as combustion gases can be sucked back, leading to poisoning.
- Maintain negative pressure below 4 Pa (=0.04 mBar) when used with combustion appliances.
- Fresh air can be provided by opening windows/doors or installing air grilles.
- For appliances with external motor units, ensure sufficient air supply in the room.
- For recirculation units, minimum ventilation is also required.
- Consider a window contact switch for appliances used with heating systems that require room air.
Exhaust Duct Installation
- Motor outlet diameter is 150 mm; a 150 mm duct is recommended.
- Use the shortest possible duct with minimal bends for best performance and lowest noise.
- Use smooth, non-flammable pipes with the correct diameter.
- Flat ducts with rounded corners are recommended.
- Do not reduce the exhaust diameter.
- Avoid right-angle bends; use rounded bends.
- Flexible hoses should be used minimally.
- Ensure ducts are not crushed or kinked.
- Use hose clamps or aluminum tape for airtight connections.
- Horizontal ducts should be slightly inclined to prevent condensation.
- Insulate ducts passing through cool areas.
- Ensure exhaust pipes through external walls bridge cavities and slope slightly outwards.
- Use appropriate wall vents or roof passages.
- A non-return valve may be needed for short ducts to prevent wind ingress.
- Do not connect to active flues or chimneys serving other appliances.

Installation Steps
Follow these steps for installation:
- Prepare the cut-out opening in the mounting plate according to the specified dimensions (6833/6834: 845x485mm; 6843/6844: 1145x485mm). Ensure the opening is watertight.
- Mount the cooker hood with the control panel on the right side for easy access to the filter.
- Connect external lighting (max. 300W) via the remote control if applicable.
- Ensure the exhaust duct is connected securely using aluminum tape or a hose clamp. Keep the duct long enough for re-connection after disassembly.
- Insert the plug into the wall socket.
- Push the ceiling unit up into the opening, securing it with the clamping screws. Do not overtighten in plasterboard.
- The motor unit's exhaust direction can be adjusted if necessary.
Refer to specific diagrams for detailed steps on exhaust direction and unit mounting.
