Safety
Precautions before using
- Do not modify or alter the appliance.
- The appliance is only safe when it is connected to a protective earth conductor in accordance with current regulations.
- Do not use an extension cord to connect to the electrical network.
Using the appliance
- When using the hood, there must always be a sufficient supply of fresh air in the room. This can be achieved by tilting a window, opening a door, or installing an air inlet grille. The amount of air extracted cannot exceed the amount of fresh air supplied. Insufficient air supply can lead to a 50% loss of efficiency or more.
- Insufficient air supply can cause backflow in other exhaust channels, such as the flue of a fireplace or other combustion appliances, leading to a risk of poisoning from drawn-in gases and combustion gases. When using the hood simultaneously with appliances powered by energy other than electricity, the negative pressure in the room must not exceed 4 Pa (=0.04 mbar).
- This hood is equipped with a connection for a window contact switch. If the hood is to be used with a heating appliance that requires air from the room, and if fresh air is supplied only through an open window, a window contact switch (not supplied) can be connected. This ensures the hood only operates when the window is open. If the window is closed, the fan cannot be activated. A window contact cable set is available as an accessory (article number 990.033).
- Flaming under the hood is strictly forbidden.
- Only deep-fry under the hood with constant supervision.
- In case of fire, always switch off your hood.
- Never extinguish burning fats or oils with water; cover the pan with a suitable lid or a fire blanket.
- Children under 8 years of age, persons with reduced physical or mental capacities, and persons with insufficient knowledge may only use this appliance under supervision or if they have been trained to use it safely.
- Children must be supervised to ensure they do not play with the appliance.
- Switch on the hood a few minutes before cooking to effectively remove cooking fumes.
- Switch off the hood approximately 10 minutes after finishing cooking. The run-on time is set to 10 minutes. Make use of this run-on time.
- Avoid drafts above the cooking surface.
- Position your cookware so that rising vapors are drawn under the suction surface of the hood.
- For induction cooking: set the hood and hob intensity as low as possible to limit excessive vapor production.
- Be aware that certain parts of the hood within reach can become hot during cooking.
Precautions against damage
- The mounting instructions describe the correct mounting method. Read these instructions carefully.
- Check the distance between the cooking surface and the hood. The minimum and maximum heights are indicated in the mounting instructions.
- Never use the hood without the grease filters to prevent dirt and grease from entering the hood, which could affect its operation and function over time.
- Always stay present when baking, roasting, grilling, or frying. Overheated oil and fat can catch fire and damage the hood.
Operation
The hood can be operated using the controls on the hood or the supplied remote control.
Controls on the hood:
- ① Power button
- ② Speed decrease button
- ③ Speed indicator lights
- ④ Power speed indicator light
- ⑤ Speed increase button
- ⑥ Lighting on/off button
Extraction
Motor on/off
Press button ① to switch the motor on. The hood will always start with the last used setting (lighting and/or motor).
Switching off with run-on function
Press button ① once. The first indicator light will flash, and the other indicator lights will remain on at the last set speed. After 10 minutes, the motor and lighting will switch off automatically.
Auto-Stop
To prevent the hood from remaining on, the motor will automatically switch off after 3 hours (only if no operation has been performed during those 3 hours). The motor switches off, but the lighting remains on.
Switching off without run-on function
Press button ① twice.
Motor speed
Press button ⑤ to increase the motor speed and button ② to decrease it. The motor speed is adjustable in 4 levels: levels 1, 2, 3 (indicated by green lights) and the power level (indicated by a red light). Choose the desired level based on the amount of steam generated during cooking.
The power level automatically reverts to level 3 after 6 minutes. The power level is only used for strong development of steam, smoke, or odors. Due to the high air extraction rate at this level, its use should be minimized.
A thermal contact automatically switches off the motor in case of overheating. The motor will switch back on after cooling down. It is necessary to determine the cause of overheating. This could be due to a pan fire, a blocked motor fan, or an object partially or fully blocking the air outlet.
Lighting
Press key ⑥ to switch the lighting on or off. The LED lighting features a soft-on/soft-off function, meaning the light gradually turns on and off. When the light is switched on, it will always be at full power and can also be used when the fan is off.
Dimming LED lighting
When the LED lighting is on, you can dim it by pressing and holding key ⑥.
Changing LED color temperature
The color temperature of the LED lighting can be changed from 2,700 K (warm white) to 4,000 K (neutral white). Refer to section 4.4 for instructions.
Remote Control
- ① Lighting on/off
- ② Speed increase button
- ③ Speed decrease button
- ④ Power button
- ⑤ Novy button - Not applicable
The remote control is pre-installed and ready for use.
Programming the remote control
If the set frequency interferes with other transmitters, you can select a different code using the remote control. There are 10 different codes available.
Determining the current code:
Simultaneously press and ⌂ on the remote control. The indicator light on the remote control will flash as many times as the selected code (there are 10 code options in total).
Changing the code:
- Simultaneously press and ⌂ on the remote control for approximately 3 seconds, until the indicator light flashes. The number of flashes corresponds to the selected code. Repeat this step until you reach the desired code (there are 10 code options in total).
- Simultaneously press and ⌂ on the hood until the second green speed indicator light flashes.
- Within 10 seconds, press the ⌂ key on the remote control to confirm the settings. The hood and the remote control are now synchronized.
Changing the batteries:
Unscrew the plastic cover, remove the old batteries, and insert new ones. Pay attention to the polarity markings in the battery compartment. Empty batteries must not be disposed of in household waste but must be handed in as chemical waste.
Maintenance
Grease filter
Maintenance of the grease filter
The hood contains two metal grease filters that should be cleaned twice a month.
Grease filter saturation indicator
Indication: 4 flashing indicator lamps. After 20 hours of cooking, the 4 indicator lamps will blink for 5 minutes, indicating that the grease filter needs cleaning.
Accessing the grease filters
To open the bottom plate (A), grasp the right and left sides and pull down simultaneously. Remove the filter (B) by pulling down on the handle.
Cleaning the filter
- In the dishwasher.
- Manually: Soak the filter in hot water with a liquid detergent. Rinse and allow to dry completely.
Note: If the previous instructions are not followed, there is an increased risk of fire.
Resetting the grease filter saturation indicator
After replacing the cleaned filter, you must reset the hood by pressing the – button for 5 seconds. If you do not reset, the indicator lamps will continue to blink. We recommend cleaning your filter twice a month for optimal operation.
Recirculation (optional)
Programming recirculation
If you choose the recirculation kit, you must always set the recirculation program on the hood. Perform this programming as follows:
- Note: The motor must be switched off.
- Simultaneously press the + and – keys for 5 seconds until the red LED flashes 3 times.
The following functions are now enabled:
- The run-on time is set to 30 minutes (instead of the default 10 minutes). Utilize the 30-minute run-on time to effectively absorb cooking odors in the monoblock filter.
- The cleaning indicator for the monoblock recirculation filter is set to 200 operating hours.
Deactivating recirculation:
- The motor must be switched off.
- Simultaneously press the + and – keys on the hood for 5 seconds until the third green LED flashes 3 times.
- The run-on time is set to 10 minutes (instead of 30 minutes). The recirculation cleaning indicator is switched off.
Cleaning indication
Indication: red indicator lamp lights up. The red indicator lamp will light up after 200 working hours (time to regenerate the monoblock recirculation filter). The recirculation filter is located behind the grease filter.
Refer to your recirculation kit manual for removing and replacing the monoblock filter.
Regenerating the Monoblock recirculation filter
- The Monoblock filter can be regenerated up to 12 times. This is done in the oven.
- Place the filter in the oven for 1 hour at 120°C. Ensure sufficient ventilation in the room where the oven is located, as odors may be released. Certain types of fish may release odors when baked. In this case, it is best to regenerate the filter immediately after baking.
Resetting the Monoblock recirculation filter
Note: The cooker hood motor must be running.
Simultaneously press + and – for 5 seconds until the red indicator lamp flashes 3 times for confirmation. If the programming is not carried out, it will be automatically set after the hood has been switched on 10 times. After a reset, the cleaning indication will be set to 200 hours.
Replacing the Monoblock recirculation filter
Refer to your recirculation kit manual for removing and replacing the monoblock filter.
Hood Maintenance
Allow the lights to cool down sufficiently before cleaning the hood. Use a soft, wet cloth and a mild detergent to clean the hood. Never use aggressive, abrasive detergents or sponges. Bleach will damage stainless steel.
Stainless steel surfaces can be treated with Novy Inoxcleaner (906060) after cleaning.
