How to Replace Spark Plugs on Opel Astra G (T98, F08, F48)
A step-by-step guide from AUTODOC for replacing spark plugs on compatible Opel models.

- OPEL AGILA (A) (H00) 1.2 16V (F68)
- OPEL ASTRA G Estate (T98) 1.2 16V (F35)
- OPEL ASTRA G Hatchback (T98) 1.2 16V (F08, F48)
- OPEL ASTRA G Saloon (T98) 1.2 16V (F69)
- OPEL CORSA C (X01) 1.2 (F08, F68)
- OPEL CORSA C Box (X01) 1.2 16V (F08, W5L)
Please note that the exact steps may vary slightly depending on the specific car design.
Required Tools
- High-temperature anti-seize lubricant
- Electronic spray
- Torx bit T30
- Spark plug socket #16
- Ratchet wrench
- Torque wrench
- Flat screwdriver
- Crow bar
- Fender cover

Replacement Procedure

Step 1: Open the Hood
Open the hood of the vehicle. Use a fender protection cover to prevent damaging the paintwork and plastic parts of the car.

Step 2: Remove the Engine Cover
Remove the engine cover.

Step 3: Detach Ignition Coil Connector
Detach the connector from the ignition coil. Use a flat screwdriver.

Step 4: Unscrew Ignition Coil Bracket
Unscrew the ignition coil bracket. Use Torx T30. Use a ratchet wrench.

Step 5: Pry Up Ignition Coil
Pry up the ignition coil. Use a crowbar.

Step 6: Remove Ignition Coil
Take out the ignition coil from the spark plug well.

Step 7: Clean Spark Plug Wells
Clean dirt, dust, and debris from inside the spark plug wells.

Step 8: Unscrew Spark Plugs
Unscrew the spark plugs. Use the spark plug socket #16. Use a ratchet wrench.

Step 9: Remove Spark Plugs
Take out the spark plugs.

Step 10: Apply Anti-Seize Lubricant
Apply a thin layer of a special high-temperature anti-seize lubricant to the threads of the new spark plugs.

Step 11: Install New Spark Plugs
Install the new spark plugs into their mounting seats.

Step 12: Tighten New Spark Plugs
Screw new spark plugs and tighten them. Use the spark plug socket #16. Use a torque wrench. Tighten to 24 Nm torque.

Step 13: Install Ignition Coil
Install the ignition coil into the spark plug well. Make sure you hear a click indicating that it is locked in place.

Step 14: Tighten Ignition Coil Fastening
Tighten the ignition coil fastening. Use Torx T30. Use a torque wrench. Tighten to 15 Nm torque.

Step 15: Treat Ignition Coil Connector
Treat the ignition coil connector with electronic spray. The spray will protect the electrical contacts from corrosion, oxidation, and will reduce the contact resistance.
AUTODOC recommends: After applying the spray, wait a few minutes.

Step 16: Plug In Ignition Coil Connector
Plug in the ignition coil connector.

Step 17: Install Engine Cover
Install the engine cover and secure it. Make sure you hear a click indicating that it is locked in place.

Step 18: Run Engine and Shut Off
Run the engine for a few minutes. This is necessary to ensure that the component operates properly. Shut off the engine.

Step 19: Remove Fender Protection Cover
Remove the fender protection cover.
