How to Replace the Ignition Coil on Opel Astra G (T98, F08, F48)

  • OPEL CORSA C (X01) 1.2 (F08, F68)
  • OPEL CORSA C Box (X01) 1.2 16V (F08, W5L)

Note: The exact steps may vary slightly depending on the specific car design.

Required Tools

  • Electronic spray
  • Torx bit T30
  • Ratchet wrench
  • Torque wrench
  • Flat screwdriver
  • Crow bar
  • Fender cover

Replacement Procedure

  1. Step 1: Open the Hood

    Open the hood of the vehicle. Use a fender protection cover to prevent damage to the car's paintwork and plastic parts.

  2. Step 2: Remove Engine Cover

    Remove the engine cover.

  3. Step 3: Detach Ignition Coil Connector

    Detach the electrical connector from the ignition coil. Use a flat screwdriver for this task.

  4. Step 4: Unscrew Ignition Coil Bracket

    Unscrew the ignition coil bracket. Use a Torx T30 bit and a ratchet wrench.

  5. Step 5: Pry Up Ignition Coil

    Carefully pry up the ignition coil. A crowbar can be used for leverage.

  6. Step 6: Remove Old Ignition Coil

    Take out the old ignition coil from the spark plug well.

  7. Step 7: Install New Ignition Coil

    Install the new ignition coil into the spark plug well. Ensure it is properly seated by listening for a click, indicating it is locked in place.

  8. Step 8: Tighten Fastening

    Tighten the ignition coil fastening. Use a Torx T30 bit and a torque wrench. Tighten to a torque of 15 Nm.

  9. Step 9: Treat Connector with Spray

    Treat the ignition coil connector with electronic spray. This spray helps protect electrical contacts from corrosion and oxidation, and reduces contact resistance.

  10. Step 10: Plug in Connector

    Plug in the ignition coil connector.

    Install the engine cover and secure it. Ensure you hear a click, indicating it is locked in place.

    Run the engine for a few minutes. This is necessary to ensure the new component operates correctly. Shut off the engine afterwards.
