Quick Start: Sommer Telecody Keypad to CarTeck Drive 600 Opener
This guide provides a quick, simple step-by-step process for setting up the Sommer Telecody keypad with a CarTeck Drive 600 garage door opener. It is intended as a supplementary guide and not a replacement for the full CarTeck or Sommer technical manuals.
Outside Keypad Programming to Door Carriage Receiver
Before you begin, ensure you know the access code you wish to use. It is important to note that for programming multiple doors, the first digit of the access code must be different for each door.
For example: Door one can use access code 3579, and Door two can use 2468. Any combination of numbers up to nine can be used, provided the first numbers are distinct.
- Ensure you have easy access to the drive motor carriage. This process requires two hands: one to operate the keypad and one to press buttons on the carriage.
- Have the keypad ready. If it is a new unit, press 'M' on the keypad until the lights illuminate. Do not worry if the lights turn off; the unit will still be activated. The keypad does not need to be screwed to the wall for this initial programming.
- Remove the cover of the drive motor carriage. Locate the 'radio' button, which is typically red.
- Begin programming for the first door. With the keypad in hand, approach the drive motor carriage. Press the 'radio' button on the carriage; a red LED indicator should illuminate.
- Keypad Programming Sequence:
Keypad Action Result/Description Press 'P' Starts the program sequence. Press '3' Enters the first number of your chosen access code. Press 'P' Confirms the position of the code digit. Press '3' Enters the first number of your chosen access code (example). Press '5' Enters the second number of your chosen access code. Press '7' Enters the third number of your chosen access code. Press '9' Enters the fourth number of your chosen access code. Press 'P' Indicates the code is programmed but not fully complete. - Second Keypad Sequence (for confirmation/completion):
Keypad Action Result/Description Press '3' (Example digit) Press '5' (Example digit) Press '7' (Example digit) Press '9' (Example digit)
Verification: Key in the access code on the keypad again. The door should now operate.
Programming a Second Door
To program a second door, repeat steps 1 to 4. Ensure the first number of the new access code is different from the first number used for the first door.
- Step 5 (for Door Two): Enter the new access code sequence, e.g.,
P - 2 - P - 2 - 4 - 6 - 8 - P
- Step 6 (for Door Two): Enter the remaining digits of the new access code, e.g.,
2 - 4 - 6 - 8
Keying in the new access code on the keypad will now operate the second door.
It is possible to control at least up to nine doors using this method, provided each has a unique starting digit for its access code.
