This manual provides instructions for the Retekess TR640 Portable Internet Radio.
1. Product Diagram
Radio Diagram:
The radio features a display screen (1), tune/select button (2), power/menu button (3), left/move back button (4), right/move forward button (5), tune/volume knob (6), enter/play&pause button (7), setting/preset button (8), mute button (9), AC-IN port (10), TF card slot (11), USB port (12), headset jack (13), and battery slot (14).
Remote Control Diagram:
The remote control includes buttons for Up (1), Power On/Off (2), OK/Enter (3), Right/Move forward (4), Down (5), Volume up (6), Select channels (7), Volume down (8), Sleep (9), Home (10), Left/Move Back (11), and Mute (12).

3. Power On and Standby
3.1 First Power On (without connecting network)
When the radio is connected to AC power or has batteries installed, it will display 'Boot up and connect to network'. You will be prompted to 'Configure network? YES / NO'. Use the left/right buttons to select YES or NO and press ENTER to confirm. If YES is selected, proceed to Wi-Fi network connection.
3.2 If the network WIFI is connected
Connect the power supply or install batteries. Tap [POWER]. The display shows 'Boot up and connect to network', then the current time, and the radio turns on.
3.3 Standby/Power Off
Long press the [POWER] button to enter standby mode (display time interface). For battery power, the device will automatically shut down after 1 minute. For AC power, it remains in standby mode.
4. Function
Enter [MENU]. Use the left/right buttons or rotate the tune/volume knob to select a work mode (Internet Radio, DAB Radio, FM Radio, Bluetooth, USB, TF Card, Alarm, Sleep Timer, Configuration) and press [ENTER] to enter.
4.1 Network Radio
4.1.1 WI-FI Network Connection
Navigate to Configuration > Network. Select 'WLAN Scan' to find available networks. Use the tune/volume knob to select a network, press [ENTER], and enter the Wi-Fi password using the on-screen keyboard. Navigate the keyboard using the left/right and up/down buttons or by rotating the tune/volume knob. Press [ENTER] to confirm each character. After entering the password, press [ENTER] to connect. A successful connection will display 'WI-FI connection successful'. The 'Time zone' setting will then appear. Select your time zone using the tune/volume knob and press [ENTER]. The date will update automatically upon network connection.
4.1.2 Network Radio Reception
Select the Internet Radio icon and press [ENTER]. Choose from categories like 'Country/Location', 'Local stations', 'Popular stations', 'History', 'Search', 'By language', 'By genre', or 'My favourite'. To play a station, navigate through the categories, select the desired station, and press [ENTER].
4.1.3 Internet Radio Search Station Operation
Select 'Search' and press [ENTER]. Use the navigation buttons to enter the station name or keywords. Long press [ENTER] to initiate the search. Select the station from the search results and press [ENTER] to play.
4.1.4 Playback Failures
If a radio fails to play, 'play fail...' will be displayed. If the network is interrupted, 'Connect to network...' will be displayed.
4.1.5 Station Storage/Selection
Station Selection: Press [PRESET] to enter the preset list. Rotate the tune/volume knob to select and switch to a favorite station.
Station Storage: While a radio is playing, long press [PRESET] to enter the 'preset store' list. Select an 'Empty' slot, press [ENTER] to confirm, and the station will be saved. The list can hold up to 30 stations.
4.2 DAB Radio Reception (DAB version only)
Select the DAB Radio icon and press [ENTER]. You may be prompted to 'ENTER the DAB automatic station search'. Press [ENTER] to confirm. After the scan, a station list will appear. Rotate the tune/volume knob to select a station and press [ENTER] to play.
4.2.1 DAB Station Storage
In the DAB playback interface, long press [PRESET] to enter the station storage list. Rotate the tune/volume knob to select a storage number and press [ENTER] to save the station. A confirmation message 'PRESET ** SAVED' will appear.
4.3 FM Radio Reception (DAB version only)
Select the FM Radio icon and press [ENTER]. The FM reception range is 87.50-108.00MHZ with a step value of 0.05MHZ.
4.3.1 Manual Tuning
In FM mode, rotate the tune/volume knob clockwise or counterclockwise to tune to different frequencies.
4.3.2 Automatic Search Station
In FM mode, long press [ENTER] for 2 seconds to start an automatic scan. The radio will search for stations and store them automatically. The scan proceeds from the lowest to the highest frequency.
4.3.3 Manual Station Storage
Select a favorite station, long press [PRESET] to enter the 'FM Preset Store' list. Select an 'Empty' slot, press [ENTER] to confirm, and the station will be saved with a message 'PRESET 1-30 SAVED'.
4.3.4 Station Selection
Press [PRESET] to enter the preset list. Rotate the tune/volume knob to select and switch to a favorite station.
Note: When listening to FM radio, extend and adjust the antenna for best reception. If interference occurs, try shortening the antenna.
4.4 Bluetooth Play
Select the Bluetooth icon and press [ENTER]. The Bluetooth connection code is 'TR640'. Turn on your Bluetooth device and connect. Use the left/right buttons to select the previous or next song. Short press [ENTER] to pause/play. Long press [ENTER] to disconnect Bluetooth.
4.5 USB Play
Select the USB icon and press [ENTER]. Insert a USB flash drive. The display will show playback time, song number, and total songs. Supports up to 256GB and MP3, WMA, WAV, APE, FLAC formats. Use left/right buttons for previous/next song, long press for fast backward/forward. Short press [ENTER] for pause/play. If no USB drive is inserted, 'No Device' is displayed.
4.6 TF Card Play
Select the TF card icon and press [ENTER]. Insert a TF card. The display shows playback time, song number, and total songs. Use left/right buttons for previous/next song, long press for fast backward/forward. Short press [ENTER] for pause/play. Supports up to 256GB and MP3, WMA, WAV, APE, FLAC formats. If no TF card is inserted, 'No Device' is displayed.
4.7 Alarm
4.7.1 Alarm Setting
Select the Alarm icon and press [ENTER]. The alarm is OFF by default. Select 'Alarm 1' to enter the setting interface. Options include 'Enable' (Off/Daily/Once/Weekdays/Weekends), 'Time' (set hour and minute), 'Mode' (DAB/FM/BUZZ), 'Preset' (last listened station or select from list), and 'Volume'. Rotate the tune/volume knob to adjust settings and press [ENTER] to confirm. Select 'SAVED' and press [ENTER] to save the alarm settings. An alarm icon will appear when the alarm is active.
4.7.2 Snooze Setting
When the alarm rings, short press [POWER] to turn it off. Pressing any other button will activate the snooze function for 9 minutes.
4.7.3 Turn Off the 'Alarm'
Return to the alarm settings and select 'Off' for 'Enable' to turn off the alarm. Save the settings.
4.8 Sleep Timer Settings
Select the Sleep Timer icon and press [ENTER]. Choose from 'Off', '15 minutes', '30 minutes', '45 minutes', '60 minutes', '90 minutes', '120 minutes', '150 minutes', or '180 minutes'. After setting, a sleep symbol will appear on the LCD with the countdown. The device will automatically shut down after the set time.
4.9 Configuration Introduction of Settings
Select the Configuration icon and press [ENTER] to enter system settings. Options include Network, Date & Time, Language, DAB setup, FM setup, Dimmer, EQ, Buffer time, Information, Software update, and Reset to default.
4.9.1 Network
Connect to the network as described in section 4.1.1. Time and date will update automatically.
4.9.2 Date & Time
Options include 'Set Date & Time' (manual setting when NTP is off), 'NTP: [Use network time]' (automatically updates time via network), 'Time zone', 'Set time format' (12/24 hour), 'Set date format', 'Set time from DAB: [On/Off]', and 'Set time from FM: [On/Off]'. Note: After switching NTP to 'Use network time', power cycle the device for the setting to take effect.
4.9.3 Language Settings
Select 'Language' and press [ENTER]. Choose from English, Deutsch, Italiano, Français, Nederlands, Español, Polski, or Русский. Press [ENTER] to confirm your selection.
4.9.4 DAB setup (DAB version only)
Options include 'DAB full scan', 'DAB station list', 'Manual station search', 'DRC' (Dynamic range control), 'Prune', and 'Announcement'.
4.9.5 FM setup (DAB version only)
Options include 'FM full scan', 'FM station list', 'Scan setting' (All station/strong station only), and 'Audio setting'.
4.9.6 Dimmer Backlight Settings
Adjust 'Mode' (Normal/Dim) and 'Level' (Brightness/Dimness percentage).
4.9.7 EQ Sound Effect Setting
Choose from sound effect presets like Flat, Classical, Rock, Pop, Jazz, Dance, or Manual adjustment. For Manual, adjust Bass and Treble levels.
4.9.8 Buffer time
Set the buffer time to 2 seconds or 5 seconds.
4.9.9 Information
View 'Network information' (SSID, IP, GW, MAC) and 'System information' (Model, App version, MCU version).
4.9.10 Software update
Select 'Software update' and confirm with 'Yes' or 'No'.
4.9.11 Reset to default
Select 'Reset to default' and confirm with 'Yes' or 'No' to restore factory settings.
5. Matters Needing Attention
Follow basic safety tips for safe and reliable use:
- Read and understand all safety guidelines.
- Replace batteries when low.
- Unplug AC power and remove batteries when not in use for a long time.
- Do not expose to rain, moisture, or liquids.
- Keep away from high temperature heat sources and direct sunlight.
- Do not drop or place heavy objects on the radio.
