Introduction
Thank you for purchasing the RETEKESS V115. Please read this manual thoroughly before operating the device and keep it in a safe place for future reference.
Included items: V115 unit, Lithium battery, USB cable, Operational manual.
The RETEKESS V115 is an integrated digital electric tuning radio that can play MP3 and WMA files. It features a multilingual menu, synchronous lyric display, MIC Recording, Radio Recording, LINE IN Recording, and stereo earphone output. It is powered by a rechargeable lithium battery, which can be replaced with a higher capacity BL-5C battery for extended playtime.
Precautions

- Recommended to use the original lithium battery.
- Use a charging device with an output voltage of 5V, 500mA-1000mA to avoid damaging the battery and device.
- If the lithium battery will not be used for an extended period, remove it, store it separately, and charge it once a month.
- Do not expose the radio to rain, moisture, or liquid drops.
- Avoid direct heat sources; do not bake or blow dry the product.
- Do not expose the device to direct sunshine for extended periods.
- Do not drop the product or apply heavy pressure.
Definition of Key Operations
There are three ways to operate the keys: short press, long press, and hold on. Unless otherwise stated, all operations are short presses.
- Short press: Press the key once; the function starts to work.
- Long press: Press and hold for more than 1.2 seconds; the function starts to work and operates only once.
- Hold on: Press and hold the key until stopped; the function operates multiple times at a certain frequency (e.g., fast forward/backward).
Battery Power Supply
Install/Replace Battery
- Open the battery cover.
- Insert the lithium battery according to the polarity indicated.
- Close the battery cover.
- Before first use, charge the lithium battery for 6 hours. After the first charge, subsequent charging should take about 4 hours.
- It is recommended to use the provided 5V, 500mA charger.
- Ensure the product is in the radio OFF mode before charging.
During charging, the LCD displays a "Charging Screen". A flashing battery power icon indicates charging is in progress. When fully charged, the icon stops flashing and shows full battery power. It is suggested to continue charging for 1-2 hours to ensure maximum charging capacity.

Charging the Lithium Battery
- External Adapter: Use a matched adapter (5V DC/500mA, USB port).
- Via PC: Connect the radio to a computer using the provided USB cable. The battery symbol on the display moves from right to left during charging and stops when fully charged.
Note: Alternating current can interfere with radio signal reception, so it is not recommended to use the radio while charging. Do not use an AC adapter or computer to power the radio if the battery is unloaded. If the radio is not used for a long time, unload the battery or fully charge it once every 2 months.
Radio Operation
Power On/Off
- Long press the Power button to turn on the device.
- Extend the antenna.
- Press the AM/FM or SW key to select the band.
- Long press the Power button again to turn off the device.
Automatic Station Search and Storage
In radio mode, long press the [Search/Tune key] to enter automatic search and store stations. Available stations are automatically numbered and stored from low to high frequencies. After storage is complete, press the [Previous key] or [Next key] to select and listen to stored stations. To delete an automatically saved interfering station, long press the DEL key.
Manual Station Saving
- Tune to Station: In radio mode, long press the [Previous key] or [Next key] to search stations forward or backward. The search stops when a station is received and begins playing.
- Direct Frequency Input: Enter the desired frequency using the numeric keys (e.g., 8, 8, 5 for 88.5MHz), then press the [Play/Pause key] to confirm. The radio will tune to 88.5MHz.
- *AM Tuning: Valid numbers are 522 + multiples of 9 (or 520 + multiples of 10 for North America).
- Shortwave (SW) Operation: Press the SW key to cycle through metric wave bands (e.g., 60m, 49m, 41m, etc.). After selecting a band, long press the [Search/Tune key] to search for stations.
- Storing a Station: After tuning to a desired station using methods A, B, or C, long press the MEMO "5" key. When "CH00" flashes on the display, use the numeric keys to enter the desired storage location number, then press the PLAY button. The screen will prompt "save"; press the PLAY button again to confirm storage.
Note: There are limits on the number of preset stations per band: FM: 80 presets, MW: 60 presets, SW: 300 presets.
AM Stepping Set
In AM radio mode, long press the MENU key to enter the system main menu. Press the [Previous key] or [Next key] to select the "AM Stepping" submenu. Choose the step (9 KHz or 10 KHz for North America) and press the [Play/Pause key] to confirm.
Delete a Radio Station
Tune to the station you wish to delete. Long press the DEL key; the display will show a deletion confirmation. Press the [Play/Pause key] to confirm deletion. If the operation is not completed within 5 seconds, the system returns to radio mode.
Mute Radio
In radio mode, press the [Mute key] (often the Play/Pause key). The [mute icon] will flash on the screen. Press the key again to deactivate mute.
Music Play Operation
- Insert a music TF card in MP3 or WMA format.
- Press the Power key to turn on the device.
- Press the MODE key to enter play mode. The screen will display the music name, format, time elapsed, etc.
- Use the [Previous key] or [Next key] to select the next or previous song, or use the numeric keys to select a song directly and press the [Play/Pause key] to confirm.
- Press the REPEAT key to set repeat modes: repeat one song ([repeat one icon]) or repeat all songs ([repeat all icon]).
Play Setup
(Factory settings are recommended; changes are not advised.)
- In play mode, long press the [Play/Pause key] to enter the main play screen.
- Main Directory: Select this to browse songs within folders.
- Play Mode: Options include Repeat All, Repeat One, Repeat Directory (play songs only from the selected folder).
- Sound Effect: Choose from NATURAL, POP, ROCK, JAZZ, COUNTRY, HEAVY BASS.
- Return to Main Screen: Select this option.
- To navigate menus, press the [Previous key] or [Next key] to select sub-menus, and press the [Play/Pause key] to enter. Use [Previous key] or [Next key] again to select items and press [Play/Pause key] to confirm. The setup will be successful, and the system will exit setup mode.
Computer Data Transmission
Turn on the device and connect it to a computer using the Micro USB cable. The computer will automatically install the driver software. The device screen will display a computer connected icon. The computer can then read, copy, and delete files on the TF card (acting as a card reader) or use the device as an external USB speaker. (Compatibility may vary with computer configurations.)
Recording Operation
MIC Recording
- Insert the TF card and turn on the device.
- Press the MODE key to enter play mode.
- Long press the REC key to enter MIC recording mode.
- During recording, press the REC key to finish and exit.
LINE IN Recording
- Connect an external audio cable to the "Line in" port (automatically identified).
- Ensure an external audio source is playing.
- Adjust the volume of the external audio source.
- Long press the REC key to enter "LINE IN Recording" mode.
- During recording, press the REC key to finish and exit.
Radio Recording
- Press the FM key to enter radio mode and tune to the desired station.
- Long press the REC key to enter radio recording mode.
- During recording, press the [Pause key] to pause, and press it again to resume.
- Press the REC key to finish recording and exit.
Note: In recording mode, the volume is locked at the level set before recording. Pressing the volume keys will not change the volume.
Recording File Invoking and Deletion
- Invoke: Long press the REC FILE "0" key to access recording files. Use the [Previous key] or [Next key] to select a recording file to play. File names indicate the recording type: "MIC" for MIC Recording, "LIN" for LINE IN Recording, "RAD" for Radio Recording.
- Delete: Long press the REC FILE "0" key, select the file to delete using [Previous key] or [Next key]. Long press the DEL key. The screen will prompt "Are you sure to delete the file?". Press the [Play/Pause key] to confirm deletion.
Key Locking Operation
Long press the MODE key. A lock icon will appear on the screen, indicating the system has entered key lock mode. Other keys will not function. Long press the MODE key again to unlock the keys; an unlock icon will appear.
System Setup
Long press the MENU key to enter the System Setup screen. The system will return to the main screen automatically if no operation is performed within 5 seconds.
System Screen Options:
- Auto Power: Set the automatic shutdown time (0-90 minutes).
- Contrast: Adjust screen contrast (level 1-15).
- Backlight Time: Set backlight to Normal ON, OFF, or a specific duration.
- Language: Select from Chinese, English, or Spanish. (Default is English).
- Record Set: Choose compression ratio: Simple record (64kbps), Quality record (96 kbps), Super record (128kbps).
- Back: Return to the main screen.
Sleep Shutdown Setup Operation
Enter the system setup screen, select "Auto Power" using the [Previous key] or [Next key], and press the [Play/Pause key] to enter the sub-item. Use the [Previous key] or [Next key] to set the time (00-90 minutes) and press the [Play/Pause key] to confirm. A timing shutdown icon will appear on the screen, indicating the system has entered timed shutdown mode. The timer counts down, and the device will shut down automatically when the set time is reached. The sleep shutdown function is canceled if the time is set to 00 or if the power switch is turned off.
Troubleshooting
- Q: Cannot turn on the radio.
A: Battery may be drained; please charge the battery. - Q: Cannot connect to a computer.
A: Ensure the radio is OFF mode for connection. Try a different USB cable if the current one might be damaged. - Q: Speaker does not sound.
A: Check if the volume level is too low; turn it up. - Q: Cannot play audio from Micro SD(TF) card or USB drive.
A: Check for card/USB drive compatibility issues; try another one. Ensure files are not damaged or in an incorrect format; delete and retry. - Q: Cannot charge the radio.
A: Verify the external adapter or USB cable is connected correctly. Check if the adapter or USB cable is damaged. - Q: Why does the radio sound from the speaker when using earbuds?
A: This radio cannot work with earbuds that have a MIC function. Try earbuds without a MIC function. - Q: Why is SW reception not good?
A: Shortwave reception is sensitive to atmospheric conditions, time of day, and location. Signal strength is generally weaker indoors than outdoors. For best results, extend the antenna, listen at night, and preferably outdoors.

Hearing Protection
WARNING: Protect your hearing.
- Use the lowest volume necessary.
- Turn up the volume only if in noisy surroundings.
- Turn down the volume before adding headset or earpiece.
- Limit the time you use headsets or earpieces at high volume.
- When using the radio without a headset or earpiece, do not place the speaker directly against your ear.
Note: Exposure to loud noises from any source for extended periods may temporarily or permanently affect your hearing. The louder the volume, the less time is required before hearing could be affected. Hearing damage from loud noise is sometimes undetectable at first and can have a cumulative effect.
