Welcome and Overview

Thank you for purchasing a Caséta Wireless dimming kit. To control your lights from an app or remote, you will need to replace an existing switch with a Caséta Wireless in-wall dimmer.

Installing Your Dimmer

Installation for Lights with One Wall Switch (Single-Pole)

Some lights have one wall switch, while others have two or more (e.g., stair lights). These instructions are for single-pole installations. For 3-way switch applications, visit www.casetawireless.com/3way.

WARNING: SHOCK HAZARD. May result in serious injury or death. Turn off power at circuit breaker or fuse before installing.

1. Turn power off at circuit breaker!
2. Remove existing switch from wall: Remove the wallplate and then the switch from the wall. Disconnect all wires.
3. Remove side sections (if necessary): Bend side sections back and forth to remove. Note: Do not remove outside side sections on dimmers at the end of a gang. Each dimmer has inside side sections removed. A dimmer in the middle has all side sections removed.
4. Connect the dimmer:
   • Connect the bare copper (or green) "ground" wire from the wallbox to the green wire on the dimmer using a wire connector.
   • Connect one of the remaining wires from the wallbox to one of the remaining wires on the dimmer using a second wire connector.
   • Connect the last wire from the wallbox to the last wire on the dimmer using a third wire connector.

5. Mount the dimmer: Use the provided screws to attach the dimmer to the wallbox.
6. Attach the wallplate: Attach the adapter to the dimmer using the provided screws and snap on the wallplate. If installing next to other devices, ensure the wallplate has the correct number and size of openings.
7. Turn power on at circuit breaker.

Important Note on Side Sections:

Removing side sections reduces the dimmer's maximum wattage rating. See the chart below:

CAUTION: Use only with permanently installed fixtures with dimmable LED, dimmable CFL, halogen, or incandescent lamps. Do not use to control receptacles, motor-driven appliances, or transformer-supplied appliances to avoid overheating and damage.

Codes and Grounding:

Install in accordance with all national and local electrical codes. When no grounding means exist in the wallbox, the NEC® allows installation if a nonmetallic faceplate is used or the circuit is GFCI protected. Cap or remove the green wire if using these methods.

FCC/IC Information:

This device complies with FCC Rules Part 15 and Industry Canada license-exempt RSS standards. Operation is subject to conditions preventing harmful interference. Modifications not approved by Lutron may void authority to operate. The equipment complies with Class B digital device limits for residential installations.

Using Your Caséta Wireless Kit

With a Smartphone or Tablet (Lutron Smart Bridge Required)

The Caséta Wireless dimmer can be controlled via smartphone when used with the Lutron Smart Bridge. Follow these steps:

1. Download the Lutron app from your app store (Search for "Lutron Caseta").
2. Launch the Lutron app.
3. Use the Lutron app to complete all remaining steps, including adding devices like Pico remotes, dimmers, and shades.

The app guides you through setting up your devices, allowing you to control lights, schedule them, and connect while away.

Note: If using another manufacturer's bridge, refer to their instructions.

Without a Smartphone or Tablet (Bridge Not Required)

Pairing the Dimmer and Pico Remote Control:

1. Press and hold the "Off" button on the dimmer for 6 seconds until LEDs blink twice.
2. Press and hold the "Off" button on the Pico remote control for 6 seconds until lights flash 3 times.
3. Set the desired light level on the dimmer.
4. Press and hold the "Favorite" button on the Pico remote control for 6 seconds until LEDs blink twice. The new favorite level is now saved.

Repeat these steps to pair other Pico remote controls.

Changing the Favorite Light Level (Optional):

You can set the round "Favorite" button on the Pico remote to recall any light level. The default is 50%, but you can change it by following the pairing steps above after setting your desired level on the dimmer.

Using Your Controls

Pico® Remote Control: Features buttons for On, Off, Brighter, Darker, and Favorite.

FASS™ (Front Accessible Service Switch): Located on the in-wall dimmer, this switch can be pulled out to remove power at the light socket, useful for replacing light bulbs.
