BEGA 85164 Performance Floodlight

Technical Specifications and Installation Guide

Product Overview

The BEGA 85164 is a performance floodlight featuring focusable zoom optics, allowing for adjustable half beam angles between 14° and 52°. It is designed for a variety of interior and exterior lighting applications.

The luminaire is constructed from aluminium alloy, aluminium, and stainless steel, finished with BEGA Unidure® coating in graphite or silver. It features matt safety glass, a silicone gasket, and an optical lens made of silicate glass. The floodlight offers a 350° rotation range and a -30°/+100° swivel range. It is equipped with a mounting bracket with a G1/2 threaded connection (14mm thread length) and a 1m connecting cable (X05BQ-F 5G1mm²).

Key features include BEGA Ultimate Driver®, compliance with flicker requirements (IEEE 1789, DIN IEC/TR 63158, DIN IEC/TR 61547-1), DALI controllability, and BEGA Thermal Control® for thermal regulation. It has a Safety Class I rating and an IP 65 protection class (dust-tight and protected against water jets). The impact strength is IK07 (protection against mechanical impacts < 2 joules). The wind catching area is 0.014 m², and the weight is 1.4 kg.

This product contains light sources of energy efficiency classes E and F.

Safety Information

Installation and operation must comply with national safety regulations. Installation and commissioning should only be performed by a qualified electrician. The manufacturer is not liable for damage resulting from improper use or installation. Modifications made by others render them the manufacturer.

The luminaire's electronic components are protected against overvoltage according to DIN EN 61547. For additional protection against transients, separate overvoltage protection components are recommended (available on the BEGA website).

Installation and Adjustment

Mounting: Securely screw the floodlight's G1/2 threaded connection into a G1/2 female thread on-site or a BEGA accessory. The G1/2 threaded connection torque is 40 Nm. Ensure the screw connection is secured against loosening, if provided with a locking screw (see Diagram A). Verify the earth conductor connection between the G1/2 threaded connection and the on-site female thread.

Diagram A Description: Illustrates the mounting bracket with a G1/2 threaded connection and specifies a torque of 40 Nm for the connection, secured by a screw with a 2mm Allen key (SW 2).

Electrical Connection: The electrical connection must be made with appropriate protection class and safety class, strain-relieved, using suitable connection terminals (not included) to the luminaire's power supply cable. Ensure correct configuration of the mains supply cable: connect the earth conductor to the green-yellow wire, phase to the brown wire (L), and neutral to the blue wire (N).

Control cables are connected via the two wires marked DALI. If these wires are not connected, the luminaire operates at full light output.

Beam Angle Adjustment:

The half beam angle is adjustable between 14° and 52° by turning the optical lens unit. Turning clockwise decreases the angle; turning anti-clockwise increases it.

Diagram B Description: Shows the adjustment mechanism, indicating the hexagon socket screw (SW 5) and hexagon nut (SW 27) for setting the beam direction. The hexagon socket screw requires 7 Nm torque, and the hexagon nut requires 35 Nm torque.

Diagram C Description: Depicts the adjustment process, highlighting the hexagon socket screw (SW 5) for setting the beam direction, with a specified torque of 7 Nm.

Using the Adjustment Aid: An enclosed grey adjustment aid simplifies setting the desired half beam angle (positions 1-5), especially for uniform adjustment of luminaires mounted in a line.

Diagrams 1-7 (Page 3) Description: These diagrams illustrate the step-by-step process for adjusting the beam angle. They show removing the trim ring and safety glass, turning the optical lens unit (counterclockwise to increase angle, clockwise to decrease), using the grey adjustment aid by placing it on a cylindrical pin and pressing down, and finally turning the lens unit to the desired position (referencing the table). The final steps show removing and retaining the adjustment aid, and reattaching the trim ring with glass and reflector, ensuring notches align and twisting clockwise until snug.

Cleaning and Maintenance

Clean the luminaire regularly with solvent-free cleaners to remove dirt and deposits. Do not use high-pressure cleaners.

LED Module Replacement

Ensure the system is de-energized before proceeding. Open the floodlight by removing the trim ring and safety glass/reflector by twisting anti-clockwise. Replace the LED module following the specific LED module installation instructions. Inspect and replace luminaire gaskets if necessary. Replace any defective glass. Reattach the trim ring with glass and reflector, aligning notches and twisting clockwise until snug.

Accessories

Separate instructions for use are available for accessories.
