How to Replace the Fuse on a Ridgid R86034 Impact Driver
Replace a blown fuse

Introduction
If you blow a fuse in your impact driver, you can open the device and replace the blown fuse with a new one.
Tools
- Metal Spudger (1)
- T10 Torx Screwdriver (1)
- T15 Torx Screwdriver (1)
Step 1: Disassemble the Ridgid R86034 Housing
Use the flat side of a metal spudger to pry off the black rubber cover from the housing. The rubber cover is securely attached to the housing, so some force is necessary. When reattaching the rubber cover, remember that its orientation is important. Rotate the housing until it snaps onto the housing without any gaps between it and the rubber cover.
Step 2
Remove the plastic cover with your hands. The plastic cover should be much easier to remove than the rubber cover. It is not necessary to force it.
Step 3
Unscrew the four 16 mm long screws from the rear panel using a T10 Torx screwdriver. Use a firm grip to remove the rear panel. It is well-sealed and requires a good amount of force to remove.
Step 4
Unscrew the eight 15 mm T10 Torx screws from the housing. The screw hole closest to the battery compartment is deep and small. Most replaceable bit screwdrivers will not fit into the hole. Use a standard screwdriver that fits instead.
Step 5
Place the drill flat on a table before completely separating the two halves of the housing so that the components do not fall out when opened. Separate the two halves of the housing at the rear of the driver using the metal spudger. The compartment is easier to remove if you pry from multiple sides.
Step 6
Do not remove the direction switch. It is not necessary. Remove all electrical components from the housing by hand. First, lift the motor. Then, follow the wires, lifting the components until all components are outside the housing. With two exceptions, all components should come out of their respective housings easily and require little force to remove. The circuit board closest to the battery and the LED light will be difficult to remove. When reassembling, remember to precisely place all components in their correct locations and orientations.
Step 7: Fuse Cartridge
Identify the translucent orange fuse cartridge connected by a thick red wire and a thick white wire.
Step 8
Firmly grip the orange fuse cartridge and remove it from its housing. The fuse does not come out easily, do not be afraid to pull hard to remove it.
Step 9
Insert the new fuse cartridge.
To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.
