Product Specifications
Model Number Identification:
The model number is structured as follows:
- XP21N: Series designation
- 036 or 048: Nominal Cooling Capacity (3 or 4 tons)
- 230: Voltage (208/230V-1ph-60hz)
- 01: Minor Revision Number
Key Performance Metrics:
- SEER up to 18.20
- HSPF up to 9.70
- Cooling Capacity: 34,600 to 49,000 Btuh
- Heating Capacity: 31,800 to 47,500 Btuh
Features:
- Outdoor Coil Fan Guard with SilentComfort™ Technology: Features Passive Vortex Suppression for reduced air noise. Constructed with corrosion-resistant PVC coated steel wire.
- Direct Drive Fan: Moves large air volumes uniformly through the outdoor coil for high refrigerant cooling capacity. Vertical air discharge minimizes operating sounds and protects surrounding landscape. Fan motor is inherently protected and variable-speed for quiet operation. Motor is totally enclosed for weather protection.
- Copper Tube/Enhanced Fin Coil: Lennox designed and fabricated coil with ripple-edged aluminum fins and copper tube construction. Lanced fins maximize air stream exposure for efficient heat transfer. Inverted coil circuiting prevents ice buildup at low ambients.
- Expansion Valve - Outdoor Unit: Designed and sized for heat pump systems. Sensing bulb is located on the suction line. Factory installed and piped.
- Compressor: Copeland Scroll Ultra Tech™ Two-Stage Compressor for high efficiency, uniform suction flow, constant discharge flow, high volumetric efficiency, and quiet operation. Features a floating seal design for gas pocket sealing and continuous compression. Modulation is achieved by venting a portion of the gas back to the low side of the compressor. A 24-volt DC solenoid valve controls staging.
- Crankcase Heater: Prevents migration of liquid refrigerant into the compressor, ensuring proper lubrication.
- Cabinet: Heavy-gauge steel construction with pre-painted finish. Compressor and control box are in a separate, insulated compartment for weather and sound protection. Control box is conveniently located and factory wired. Large removable panel for service access. Drainage holes in the base section for moisture removal. High-density polyethylene unit support feet. PermaGuard™ Unit Base resists rust and corrosion.
- SmartHinge™ Louvered Coil Protection: Steel louvered panels provide coil protection and are hinged for easy cleaning and servicing.
- Refrigerant Line Connections, Electrical Inlets and Service Valves: Vapor and liquid lines are located on the unit corner. Service valves are fully serviceable brass valves. Vapor valve can be fully shut off, while liquid valve may be front seated.
Controls:
- iComfort™ Control: Advanced control communicates with the optional iComfort Wi-Fi® Thermostat for optimized comfort, performance, and efficiency. Supports auto-configuration.
- Seven-Segment Display: Provides information on outdoor unit type, capacity, and fault alerts. Features compressor anti-short cycle delay, low voltage protection, defrost controls, and temperature monitoring. Compatible with Lennox Humiditrol® Whole Home Dehumidification System.
- Optional Accessories: Blower Relay Kit, Compressor Hard Start Kit, Indoor Blower Off Delay Relay, Indoor Blower Speed Relay Kit, Low Ambient Kit, Monitor Kit - Service Light, Outdoor Thermostat Kit.
- iComfort Wi-Fi® Thermostat: Recognizes and connects to iComfort-enabled products for automatic configuration and control. Allows Wi-Fi remote monitoring and adjustment.
- ComfortSense® 7000 Touchscreen Thermostat: Electronic 7-day programmable thermostat with auto-changeover, humidity control, and maintenance reminders.
- Outdoor Temperature Sensor: Optional sensor for displaying outdoor temperature on compatible thermostats.
SunSource® Home Energy System:
The XP21N units are equipped for upgrading to the SunSource Home Energy System. Solar energy is used to meet cooling/heating demands, then powers home appliances and lighting. Surplus power can be sent back to the utility company. The system includes:
- Lennox Solar Sub-Panel
- SolarWorld Pre-Engineered Kits (Solar Modules, Enphase Microinverter, Enphase Envoy Communications Gateway, Roof Mounting Components)
Approvals:
- AHRI Certified to AHRI Standard 210/240-2008.
- Sound rated in accordance with AHRI Standard 270-2008.
- Tested in Lennox Research Laboratory environmental test room.
- Rated according to U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) test procedures.
- Units are ETL certified for the U.S. and Canada.
- ISO 9001 Registered Manufacturing Quality System.
- ENERGY STAR® certified.
- Listed in the GreenSpec® Directory.
Applications:
- Designed for applications with remotely located indoor air handler units or gas furnaces with indoor add-on coils.
- When used with gas furnaces, a dual-fuel control or a system with dual-fuel capabilities is required.
- Vertical air discharge allows concealment behind shrubs at grade level or out of sight on a roof.
