Installation Steps
STEP 1: Prepare the door and check dimensions
Ensure your door meets the following specifications:
- Hole in door: Measure to confirm the hole diameter is 1-1/2" or 2-1/8" (38mm or 54mm).
- Hole in door edge: Measure to confirm the hole in the door edge is 1" (25mm).
- Door thickness: Measure to confirm the door thickness is 1-3/8" to 2" (35mm or 50mm) thick.
- Door frame hole: Make sure the hole in the door frame is drilled a minimum of 1" (25mm) deep to allow space for the deadbolt. Ensure the door frame is aligned with the door and has no obstructions.
- Backset: Measure to confirm the backset is either 2-3/8" or 2-3/4" (60 or 70mm).
STEP 2: Install the latch and strike
A. Determine backset and adjust the latch:
Hold the latch in front of the door hole. If the slotted hole is centered in the door hole, no adjustment is required. If the slotted hole is NOT centered, rotate and pull the latch to extend it as shown in the diagram.
B. Install the latch:
For a chiseled door edge, install the latch directly. For a not chiseled door edge, you may need to use the Drive-In Collar (N) if applicable. Secure the latch with Latch Screws (J).
C. Test the deadbolt:
Use a screwdriver to test if the deadbolt works smoothly by turning it.
D. Install strike on the door frame:
IMPORTANT: Make sure the hole in the door frame is drilled a minimum of 1" (25mm) deep. Secure the strike plate to the door frame using Strike Screws (I).
STEP 3: Install exterior assembly
IMPORTANT: Before installation, make sure the latch is fully retracted (in the unlocked position).
A. Measure the diameter of the hole in the door: Confirm it is 1-1/2" or 2-1/8" (38 or 54mm). If the hole is 1-1/2" (38mm), remove the spacer from the exterior assembly. If it is 2-1/8" (54mm), keep the spacer.
B. Route the cable and insert the tailpiece: With the latch fully retracted, route the cable below the latch, and insert the tailpiece through the slot in the latch.
C. Secure the mounting plate: Secure the mounting plate to the door using the supplied screws (K). Keep the mounting plate parallel to the door edge. Do not overtighten screws.
STEP 4: Install interior assembly
A. Push the battery cover out: Push the battery cover in the direction illustrated.
IMPORTANT: Do not load batteries until the lock is completely installed.
B. Determine door handedness:
Check the door hinge. If the hinge is on the right, it's a Right Handed door. If the hinge is on the left, it's a Left Handed door.
For a Right Handed door: Move the slide switch to "R" and turn the thumb turn to the Vertical position.
For a Left Handed door: Move the slide switch to "L" and turn the thumb turn to the Horizontal position.
Note: If the direction of the slide switch is set incorrectly, it can be reset in the DDLock App.
C. Insert the cable connector: Connect the cable to the socket. Push the connector in firmly until it is completely attached.
D. Attach Interior Assembly: Attach the Interior Assembly (G) to the Mounting Plate and tighten 3 Interior Assembly Screws (L).
E. Insert batteries: Insert 4 AA Alkaline batteries ? and put on the battery cover.
