EK-Pro Pump Reservoir Manifold X6 D5 – Acetal
PUMP-RESERVOIR COMBO UNITS
Important Guidelines
Before you start using this product please follow these basic guidelines:
- Please carefully read the manual before beginning with the installation process!
- The EK Fittings require only a small amount of force to screw them firmly in place since the liquid seal is ensured by the rubber O-ring gaskets.
- The use of corrosion-inhibiting coolants is always recommended for any liquid cooling system. EKWB recommends any of the EKCryofuel for worry-free usage.

Preparing the Pump Reservoir Manifold Unit
STEP 1: Mounting the Bracket
Install the provided EK UNI Pump Bracket vertically using four M4 x 8 DIN7984 screws in the desired orientation. This step requires an Allen Key 2 mm, four M4 x 8 DIN7984 screws, and the Metal UNI Pump Bracket (120mm Fan) - V.
STEP 1a: Bracket Orientations
The bracket can be mounted in multiple orientations to suit user needs. The X6 manifold offers two distinct mounting points per height. Four possible orientations for the pump bracket are illustrated, demonstrating various vertical attachment positions for the manifold.
STEP 2: Mounting to Radiator
EKWB recommends mounting the unit to a front radiator (e.g., P360), ensuring either the ports or the coolant level window faces the user. This step utilizes M4 x 30 DIN7985 screws.
STEP 2a: Radiator Configuration
The mounting method depends on the radiator configuration (push/pull/push-pull). For setups with a fan between the radiator and the combo unit, use M4 x 30 DIN7985 Philips screws (typically supplied with the radiator). For direct mounting of the combo unit to the radiator, use M4 x 5 DIN7985 Philips screws (also typically supplied with the radiator).
For push-pull configurations involving fans on both sides of the radiator, an additional four M4 x 30 DIN7985 Philips screws may be necessary. These are available separately from the EK shop (EAN: 3831109897997).
OPTIONAL Mounting
Compatible brackets, such as the EK-Loop Uni Pump Reservoir Bracket (120mm / 140mm), can be purchased separately. Alternatively, the unit can be mounted to chassis openings that support 105 x 105 mm or 125 x 125 mm raster holes.
Recommended Pump Reservoir Manifold Configurations
To complete your loop, all ports must be used as indicated in the diagram. Unused ports should be sealed with the provided plugs, using a 6mm Allen Key.
Port Usage Recommendations:
- A1, A2: Recommended for components with the highest heat load, such as CPU blocks.
- B1, B2: Recommended for components with the second highest heat load, such as GPU blocks.
- C1, C2: Recommended for radiators, facilitating the coolest coolant return to the pump.
Important Note: If a prescribed component (e.g., radiator or GPU block) is not installed, one INLET and one OUTLET port per pair must still be connected to ensure the unit functions correctly. This can be achieved using plugs or short tubing.
For optimal performance, EK recommends using identical components across all three pairs (A, B, C) in semi-parallel port configurations.
Flow Diagram
The flow diagram illustrates coolant circulation through the system, detailing connections between water blocks, radiators, and the pump combo unit via ports A, B, and C.
Configuration Examples:
- Example 1: Depicts necessary and optional connections for a standard loop setup.
- Example 2: Shows alternative necessary and optional connections.
Notes on Component Usage:
- If a component (radiator or GPU block) is not installed, one INLET and one OUTLET port per pair must still be connected for functionality.
- If component B1 or B2 (one of them) is unused, the combo unit will still operate due to its internal parallel channels.
- If both B1 and B2 are unused, the user has two options:
- Connect at least one A-in port to a B-in port, directing the return flow from component A to component B, which then feeds the C-out port.
- Block at least one port from the B pairs using an additional hose and fittings to maintain proper flow.
Drain and Accessories
The kit includes a 1-meter drain hose with a female Quick Disconnect (QD) fitting. Attach the female QD to the male QD located on the drain port of the pump reservoir combo unit for draining. Opening the fill port or another port is recommended to allow air into the loop, facilitating faster draining.
Coolant can be drained into a bucket or any other suitable container.
The pump reservoir combo unit features standard G1/4 threaded holes, compatible with all EK portfolio fittings. Both hard and soft tubing can be utilized with this unit.
Connecting the Pump
The EK-D5 PWM pump features two connectors:
- SATA Connector: This must remain connected directly to the PSU at all times to power the pump.
- 4-pin PWM fan connector: This connects to the motherboard's CPU_Fan header, a designated water pump header, or a controller. It is used to manage and report the pump's rotational speed. If disconnected, the pump will operate at its maximum speed (100% PWM).
Testing the Loop
To confirm successful installation, it is recommended to perform a leak test for 24 hours.
Once the loop is complete and filled with coolant, connect the pump to a PSU situated outside the main system. Ensure no other components are powered. Turn on the PSU and allow the pump to run continuously. A decrease in the coolant level is expected during this process as air is collected within the combo unit.
Inspect all parts of the loop for leaks. Address any issues found and repeat the testing process. Crucially, ensure all hardware is completely dry before powering on the system to prevent potential damage.
