Before you start using this product, please follow these basic guidelines:

Section 1: Assembling EK-XRES SPC Series Pump-Reservoir Combo Unit

This section details the assembly of the pump onto the reservoir, noting that the unit is often pre-assembled by EK.

Diagram shows the EK-XRES 140 SPC PWM Classic RGB pump main motor housing. It is connected to the SPC pump body with motor via an original SPC sealing gasket (OR). Four vibration dampers are attached to the bottom, secured by M4x4 DIN7984 screws. The pump has 'OUT' [arrow pointing out] and 'IN' [arrow pointing in] ports.

Step 1: Pump Installation

Install the EK-SPC Series pump onto the pump main motor housing. Ensure you re-use the original O-ring gasket. Reseat the gasket if needed. The XRES SPC can be rotated in any direction (90° step turns).

Step 2: Securing the Pump

Secure the XRES SPC using the enclosed custom M4-M4 SPC Screws with the enclosed 2mm Allen key. Do not over-tighten the screws, as excessive force may strip the threading or the allen key seat.

Section 2: Installing the Assembly - Option 1 (Using Enclosed Bracket)

This option is for mounting the assembly onto a 120mm fan or 120mm FAN mounting holes using the enclosed spider mount bracket.

Top diagram shows the Bracket - XRES Classic Spider assembly, showing attachment points and M4 x 4mm screws. Bottom diagram illustrates the EK-XRES 140 SPC PWM Classic RGB assembly mounted onto a 120mm FAN using the Spider Holder. Components shown: M4 PVC washer, Spider Holder, M4 x 4mm DIN7984 screw, and the 120 mm FAN. The assembly is attached to the fan using various screw options.

Step 1: Bracket Assembly

Use the enclosed M4 x 4 mm screws to screw two brackets together as shown in the diagram.

Step 2: Mounting the Bracket

Section 3: Installing the Assembly - Option 2 (Flat Surface Mounting)

The assembly can be mounted on any flat surface inside your computer chassis. This requires drilling four (4) 4.2mm holes in a 50x50mm square pattern.

Top diagram shows a template for drilling mounting holes: a 50x50mm square with four 4.2mm diameter holes marked, indicating dimensions. Bottom diagram depicts the reservoir assembly mounted on a flat surface using vibration dampers and M4x4 DIN7984 screws. The 'OUT' and 'IN' ports are visible.

Installation Steps:

  1. Screw on Vibration Dampers onto Custom SPC Screws.
  2. Drill four (4) 4.2mm holes into the chassis in a 50x50mm pattern.
  3. Use enclosed M4×4mm screws to secure the pump to the chassis.

Section 4: Attaching the Fittings

The EK-XRES 140 SPC PWM Classic RGB series reservoir pump combo features two (2) G1/4 threaded openings on the main body, clearly marked as 'OUT' [arrow pointing out] (outlet) and 'IN' [arrow pointing in] (inlet). EKWB recommends using EK-ACF fittings. If using barbed fittings, ensure they are secured with hose clamps or an appropriate substitute.

Top diagram shows an EK Fitting being attached to one of the G1/4 threaded ports on the reservoir. Arrows indicate flow direction for the 'OUT' [arrow pointing out] and 'IN' [arrow pointing in] ports. Bottom diagram shows the reservoir in a vertical mounting configuration.

Mandatory Port Identification:

This water pump & EK-XRES SPC reservoir combo can be used in a vertical mounting configuration (position) only! Mounting the pump upside down may result in the pump running dry and eventually lead to premature failure of the pump!

Section 5: Connecting the RGB LED Strip

This section describes how to connect the reservoir's RGB LED lighting to the motherboard.

Top diagram shows the 4-pin RGB LED Connector for the reservoir. Bottom diagram shows a close-up of the RGB LED Connector being plugged into a motherboard's RGB Header. The header pins are labeled '+12V G R B'. An arrow on the connector indicates alignment with the +12V pin.

Step 1: Connection

Plug the 4-pin connector from the reservoir's RGB LED light to the RGB HEADER on the motherboard. The LED will work if the pin layout on the header is as follows: +12V G R B.

Please ensure that the arrow indicated on the connector is plugged into the +12V line as indicated on your motherboard.

Failure to do so will damage your motherboard or LED strip.
