User Guide

Important Guidelines

Before using this product, please follow these basic guidelines:

Installation

Attaching Mounting Brackets

The mounting brackets are attached to the PC case using M3 x 6 DIN7380 screws and M3 nuts.

Lower Mounting Bracket

The diagram shows the lower mounting bracket with two attachment points for M3 x 6 DIN7380 screws and M3 nuts.

Upper Mounting Bracket

The diagram shows the upper mounting bracket with two attachment points for M3 x 6 DIN7380 screws and M3 nuts.

Attaching the Distribution Plate on the Mounting Brackets

Step 1: Upper Mounting Bracket

Carefully place the EK-Quantum Reflection Obsidian 1000D distribution plate on the Upper mounting bracket. Secure it with the enclosed M4 x 8 DIN7984 screws and steel washers.

Step 2: Lower Mounting Bracket

Attach the EK-Quantum Reflection Obsidian 1000D D5 distribution plate on the Lower mounting bracket and secure it with the enclosed M4 x 8 7984DIN screws and steel washers.

Recommended Distribution Plate Configurations

To complete your loop, all ports should be used as marked on the diagrams. All remaining and unused ports should be closed using the supplied plugs and an EK-Loop Multi Allen Key (6mm, 8mm, 9mm).

The distribution plate features numerous ports for various connections:

Connections

Connecting the D-RGB LED Strip

Plug the 3-pin connector of the distribution plate's D-RGB LED light to the D-RGB HEADER on the motherboard. The LED will function if the pin layout on the header is as follows: +5V, Digital, Empty, Ground.

[Warning] Please ensure that the arrow indicated on the connector is plugged into the +5V line as indicated on your motherboard. Incorrectly connecting the LED Diode to a 12V RGB HEADER can damage the LEDs.

The connector is the same for D-RGB and RGB versions. However, the D-RGB version has 3 cables from the connector to the PCB, while the RGB version has 4 cables. Connecting a D-RGB LED to an ordinary RGB header may damage your motherboard or LED strip.

Connecting the Pump-S

The EK-D5 PWM pump has two connectors:

  • 1. 4-pin Molex: This connector must be connected directly to your PSU at all times as it is used to power the pump.
  • 2. 4-pin PWM fan: This connector can be plugged into your motherboard's CPU Fan header or a designated water pump header. It can also be connected to a controller. This cable is used to control and report the rotational speed of the pump. If it is not connected, the pump will run at maximum speed (100% PWM).

Testing the Loop

To ensure the installation of EK components was successful, we recommend performing a leak test for 24 hours.

When your loop is complete and filled with coolant, connect the pump to a PSU outside of your system. Do not connect power to any other components. Turn on the PSU and let the pump run continuously. It is normal for the coolant level to drop during this process as air collects in the distribution plate.

Inspect all parts of the loop. In the event of coolant leaks, fix the issue and repeat the testing process. Ensure that all hardware is dry before the system is powered on to prevent any damage.
