RT520TX Wiring Diagram

This diagram shows the wiring connections for the RT520TX Thermostat to the RXRT520 Receiver.

Thermostat Connections: TPI, SPAN, OPENTHERM terminals. COM, NO, NC terminals.

Receiver Connections: N (Live), L (Neutral), COM, NO. AC 230V power supply is connected to N and L.

OpenTherm Activation and Configuration

OpenTherm modulation control is used by modern heating systems. Instead of switching the boiler on and off at intervals, modulation control allows control of the heat output by the boiler to match the thermostat's demands. This results in higher system efficiency, energy savings, and greater room heating comfort.

Note: Please connect the receiver to power before inserting the battery into the thermostat.

After inserting batteries, the thermostat will power on.

Initial Setup Steps:

  1. Press SELECT.
  2. Use UP or DOWN buttons to select your language and press SELECT to confirm.
  3. Use UP or DOWN buttons to select the time format (12hr/24hr) and press SELECT to confirm.
  4. Use UP or DOWN buttons to set the hour and press SELECT to confirm.
  5. Use UP or DOWN buttons to set the minute and press SELECT to confirm.
  6. Use UP or DOWN buttons to set the year and press SELECT to confirm.
  7. Use UP or DOWN buttons to set the month and press SELECT to confirm.
  8. Use UP or DOWN buttons to set the day and press SELECT to confirm.

OpenTherm - Hot Water

Press MENU. Use UP or DOWN buttons to navigate to the Hot Water submenu and press SELECT. Use UP or DOWN buttons to set the desired temperature and press SELECT to confirm. The thermostat will return to the main display. Press any button. The text display will show that hot water heating is active.

Standard Startup and Configuration

Please follow steps 1 to 17 for OpenTherm activation and configuration.

NOTE: Use the UP or DOWN buttons to select either TPI (step 2) or SPAN (step 6). Selecting one disables the other.

TPI (Proportional Integral Time)

TPI is a self-learning time algorithm. TPI control ensures system economy through more precise temperature maintenance and limits overload conditions. It minimizes energy consumption and provides significant savings. The RT520 thermostat offers three TPI control types: 1 for radiator heating (6CPH); 2 for underfloor heating (3CPH); 3 for electric heating (9CPH).

  • Press SELECT.
  • Use UP or DOWN buttons to select the TPI type you wish to use.
  • Press SELECT to confirm.

SPAN

Span represents the difference between the measured temperature and the set (target) temperature.

  • Press SELECT.
  • Use UP or DOWN buttons to select the Span value.
  • Press SELECT to confirm.

OPTIMUM STOP

Optimum Stop calculates how long it takes for the house to cool down, then switches off the boiler as early as possible, meaning the system does not run when it is not needed. If there is a sudden loss of heat during this period, the Optimum Stop function will be overridden to re-establish desired comfort conditions.

  • Press SELECT.
  • Use UP or DOWN buttons to select ON or OFF.
  • Press SELECT to confirm.
  • The thermostat will return to the main screen display.

Owner Settings

This function is protected by a PIN code that allows the owner to set a reminder for the tenant when annual service is due.

  • Press MENU.
  • Use UP or DOWN buttons to select the owner menu and press SELECT.
  • Use UP or DOWN buttons to enter the PIN number. Press SELECT to confirm each digit.
  • Use UP or DOWN buttons to select the service date and press SELECT.
  • Use UP or DOWN buttons to select ON or OFF for the service reminder and press SELECT.

Programming - Automatic Mode

In this mode, the user can set the thermostat's operating schedule (desired temperature for a specific time period). The schedule must be used for the entire time period.

  • Press MENU.
  • Press SELECT.
  • Use UP or DOWN buttons to select the program type:
    • +2 (schedule for weekdays and weekend)
    • Whole week (setting one schedule for the entire week)
    • Individual (setting a daily schedule)
  • Press SELECT to confirm.
  • Use UP or DOWN buttons to set the warning temperature and press SELECT.
  • Use UP or DOWN buttons to set the locked temperature and press SELECT.
  • Use UP or DOWN buttons to enter the phone number. Press SELECT to confirm each digit.
  • You can now view your settings. If you wish to make any changes, press UP or DOWN buttons to select what you want to change.

Setting Time Intervals:

For each time interval (e.g., 06:00, 18:00):

  • Use UP or DOWN buttons to set the hour and press SELECT.
  • Use UP or DOWN buttons to set the minute and press SELECT.
  • Use UP or DOWN buttons to set the temperature and press SELECT.
  • Repeat the process for each time interval.

RT520TX Pairing Thermostat with Receiver

If you have an RT520RF package, the pairing between the thermostat and receiver is already done. During this pairing process, please ensure the thermostat is at least 1m away from the receiver.

If you purchased RT520TX and RXRT520 separately or wish to re-pair them, first ensure the device is not connected to power and the switch on the receiver is set to AUTO and ON. Then connect the receiver to power and wait for the red LED light to illuminate. Then quickly move the switch to OFF and then back to ON. The red LED light will flash to confirm it has entered the pairing process.

  • Press MENU.
  • Use UP or DOWN buttons to select the pairing submenu and press SELECT.
  • Use UP or DOWN buttons to select pairing and press SELECT.

Pairing can take up to 10 minutes.

When the device is successfully paired, the LED light on the receiver will glow red. ?

Testing and Pairing Process

  • Press MENU.
  • Use UP or DOWN buttons to select the pairing submenu and press SELECT.
  • Use UP or DOWN buttons to select testing and press SELECT.

The testing process can take up to 10 minutes.

The green and red LED lights on the receiver will start flashing. ??
