Standard Power Up and Configuration

Follow steps 1 to 17 from the OpenTherm Power Up and Configuration section. Note: You can choose either TPI (step 2) or SPAN (step 6) using UP ⬆️ or DOWN ⬇️. Choosing one excludes the other.

TPI (Time Proportional & Integral)

TPI is a self-learning, time-proportional algorithm that ensures economical system operation, accurate temperature maintenance, and limits overload conditions. It minimizes energy consumption and provides significant savings. RT520 offers 3 types of TPI control: 1. for radiator (6CPH); 2. for underfloor heating (3CPH); 3. for electric heating (9CPH).

Step 2: Press SELECT ✔️. Use UP ⬆️ or DOWN ⬇️ to select the TPI type and press SELECT ✔️.

SPAN

Span is the difference between the measured temperature and the set temperature.

Step 6: Press SELECT ✔️. Use UP ⬆️ or DOWN ⬇️ to select the Span value and press SELECT ✔️.

Optimum Start

Optimum Start is a selectable function that, based on the ambient room temperature, starts the boiler at the optimal time to achieve the set-point temperature. It saves energy by firing the boiler only for the minimum required time.

Optimum Stop

Optimum Stop calculates how long the house will take to cool down and turns off the boiler at the earliest possible moment. If there is a sudden heat loss, Optimum Stop will be overridden to regain comfort conditions.

Programming - Automatic Mode

In this mode, users can set schedules for the thermostat, defining temperature setpoints for specific periods. Programmed schedules should cover all time periods.

Step 1: Press SELECT ✔️.

Step 2: Use UP ⬆️ or DOWN ⬇️ to select the program type:

Press SELECT ✔️ to confirm.

Step 3: Use UP ⬆️ or DOWN ⬇️ to select the warning period ⚠️ and press SELECT ✔️.

Step 10: Repeat the process for all time periods.

Step 11: Use UP ⬆️ or DOWN ⬇️ to set the temperature ℃ and press SELECT ✔️.

Step 12: Once service mode is active, the device locks the set point temperature. To unlock, contact the landlord for boiler servicing. Landlord settings will not be reset.

Landlord Settings

Landlord settings is a PIN code protected feature that allows the landlord to set a service reminder on the thermostat. This warns the tenant when the boiler is due its annual service.

Step 1: Press MENU ☰.

Step 2: Use UP ⬆️ or DOWN ⬇️ to navigate to the Landlord submenu and press SELECT ✔️.

Step 3: Use UP ⬆️ or DOWN ⬇️ to enter the PIN code number. Press SELECT ✔️ to confirm every digit.
