The BEGA 50 253.2 is a recessed LED ceiling luminaire from the STUDIO LINE series, designed for indoor use. Overall Dimensions: The diagram shows the luminaire with a square base of 85 mm by 85 mm. The circular light aperture has a diameter of Ø 68 mm. The total height of the luminaire is 95 mm, with a recess depth of 50 mm.

Installation Diagram: This diagram illustrates the installation in a false ceiling. It indicates a required cutout diameter of Ø 68 mm and a minimum free space depth of 100 mm behind the luminaire. The mounting mechanism uses two adjustable wedge-shaped claws that grip the ceiling panel from behind. The panel thickness should be between 3 mm and 20 mm; reinforcement is needed for thinner panels. A minimum lateral distance of 50 mm from other building materials is also shown.

Installation Instructions

General: The luminaire housing must not be installed in heat-insulating material. A separate BEGA power supply unit is required (see accessories). The recessed opening will be covered by the luminaire's frame.

Installation into False Ceilings:

• A recessed opening of Ø 68 mm is necessary.
• Ensure a minimum free space depth of 100 mm behind the luminaire.
• The luminaire and the external LED power supply unit must not be installed in heat-insulating material.
• Maintain a lateral distance of at least 50 mm between the luminaire and standard combustible building parts.
• The mounting claws grip the panel from the reverse side.
• Panel thickness: Minimum 3 mm, maximum 20 mm. If the panel thickness is less than 3 mm, it must be reinforced from the reverse side.

Mounting Procedure:

1. LEDs are sensitive electronic components; avoid direct touch during installation or relamping.
2. For connection to an external LED power supply unit (accessory 13 144 or 13 169), the luminaire is equipped with a 2-pin connector. Note the operating instructions for the LED power supply units.
3. Push the external LED power supply unit and the luminaire into the ceiling cut-out.
4. Evenly hand-tighten the screws for the claw fasteners.
5. Center the reflector onto the enclosed housing shield.
6. Mount the housing shield with the reflector onto the luminaire frame magnetically (as shown in the diagram).

Safety

The installation and operation of this luminaire are subject to national safety regulations. Installation and commissioning may only be carried out by a qualified electrician. The manufacturer accepts no liability for damage caused by improper use or installation. If subsequent modifications are made to the luminaire, the person responsible for these modifications shall be considered the manufacturer.

Overvoltage Protection

The electronic components installed in the luminaire are protected against overvoltage in accordance with DIN EN 61547. For additional protection against transients, etc., separate overvoltage protection components are recommended. These can be found on the BEGA website at www.bega.com.

Cleaning and Maintenance

Clean the luminaire regularly with solvent-free cleansers to remove dirt.

LED Module Replacement

The designation of the LED module is noted on a label within the luminaire. BEGA replacement modules correspond to the original modules in terms of light colour and light output. Replacement can be performed by qualified persons using standard tools.

1. Disconnect the system power.
2. Pull the housing shield with the mounted reflector from the luminaire frame.
3. Follow the installation instructions provided with the LED module.
4. Mount the housing shield with the reflector onto the luminaire frame magnetically.

Power supply units for LED luminaires are available:
