Installation
A separate power supply unit is required for the luminaire's operation. The luminaire is equipped with a 2-pin connector for connection to an external LED power supply unit, such as BEGA accessory 13 145 (on/off) or 13 171 (DALI). Please refer to the operating instructions for the LED power supply units. LEDs are high-quality electronic components; avoid direct contact with the LED light output surface with your hands during installation or replacement. The recessed housing is secured in the installation opening by screwing it from the underside of the ceiling.
Installation in Suspended Ceilings
An installation opening of Ø 184 mm with a minimum depth of 130 mm is required. The lateral clearance between the recessed housing and building components must be at least 50 mm. Create the ceiling cutout in the suspended ceiling. Depending on the thickness of the ceiling panel, apply a 45° chamfer all around the cutout edge.
Mounting Plate Installation
Remove the ceiling mounting plate by turning it upwards out of the adjusting sleeve's thread. Pass it through the ceiling cutout and position it on the suspended ceiling. Secure the ceiling mounting plate from below through the suspended ceiling using screws (Ø 3.5-4 mm) suitable for gypsum plasterboard panels, ensuring to hold the plate through the ceiling cutout during fastening.
Centre-Plate and Adjusting Sleeve Procedure
Place the enclosed centre-plate, made of rigid polystyrene foam with its chamfer facing upwards, onto a flat surface. Position the adjusting sleeve over the centre-plate and press it down until it is flush with the surface, as shown in the diagram. IMPORTANT: It is essential to use this centre-plate to ensure the correct installation of the luminaire in the ceiling. Screw the adjusting sleeve into the thread of the pre-mounted ceiling mounting plate until it is precisely flush with the ceiling. Fill the 45° chamfer of the ceiling cutout with standard filler and smooth it flush with the surface. Allow the filler to cure completely. Press the centre-plate approximately 5 mm upwards into the adjusting sleeve, then carefully pull it downwards to remove it from the sleeve.
Electrical Connection and Housing Installation
Make the electrical connection to the LED power supply unit. Route the LED power supply unit through the installation housing and into the suspended ceiling space, then place it. Establish the 2-pin plug connection between the luminaire and the external LED power supply unit. Press together the two internal fixing sliders located inside the luminaire housing. Push the luminaire housing into the installation housing until it reaches its stop, then release the fixing sliders. This mechanism ensures a secure fit of the luminaire housing within the installation housing. To prevent fingerprints on the reflector, wear the provided protective gloves during installation. Place the reflector, complete with the silicone lens, onto the ceiling trim ring. Secure the assembly by twisting the ceiling trim ring with the attached reflector clockwise into the luminaire housing.
Cleaning and Maintenance
Clean the luminaire regularly using solvent-free cleaning agents to remove dirt.
Replacing the LED Module
The designation of the LED module is noted on a label inside the luminaire. BEGA replacement modules match the original modules in terms of light colour and light output. Replacement can be performed by qualified persons using standard tools. Ensure the power supply to the system is switched off before opening the luminaire. Please follow the specific installation instructions provided with the LED module. Close the luminaire after the replacement is complete.
Accessories
Power supply units for LED luminaires are available, designed for 220-240 V, 50-60 Hz operation, and include strain relief and a plug connector system:
