Application

The BEGA 51 273.6 is an indoor wall luminaire featuring a ring-shaped light source that provides unshielded and uniform light. It includes a light-diffusing silicone diffuser and a metal ring. It is suitable for use as single luminaires or in arrangements, offering creative lighting design solutions for interior spaces.

Ring: Made of metal, with a matt copper finish.

Luminaire Housing: Made of synthetic material, with a velvet white finish.

Inlay: Round inlay made of metal, with a matt copper finish.

Diffuser: Made of translucent, ageing-resistant silicone.

Mounting Plate: Features 2 fixing holes (Ø 6mm) with an 85mm spacing. Includes 2 cable entries for through-wiring of mains supply cables (Ø 7-10.5mm, max. 5G1.5). Connection terminals are rated for 2.5 sq mm. Includes an earth conductor connection and 2-pole connection terminals for digital control.

LED Power Supply: 220-240 V~ 0/50-60 Hz, DC 196-250 V. DALI-controllable with 1 DALI address. Basic insulation is provided between mains and control cables.

BEGA Thermal Control®: Features temporary thermal regulation to protect temperature-sensitive components without switching off the luminaire.

Safety Class: Class I.

Overvoltage Protection

The electronic components are protected against overvoltage according to DIN EN 61547. For additional protection against transients, separate overvoltage protection components are recommended. These can be found on the BEGA website (www.bega.com).

Installation

Important Note: Installation and commissioning must only be carried out by a qualified electrician. National safety regulations must be observed.

LED Handling: LEDs are high-quality electronic components. Avoid touching the light output surface of the LED directly during installation or replacement.

Mounting Plate Installation:

1. Undo the hexagon socket head screw (SW 1.5 mm) and remove the mounting plate from the luminaire housing. The mounting plate has 2 fixing holes (Ø 6mm) with an 85mm spacing.

2. Pass the power connecting cable through the cable entry in the mounting plate. Ensure the mounting plate is oriented correctly with the "arrow down" indicator.

3. Fasten the mounting plate to the installation surface using the supplied or other suitable fastening material.

Electrical Connection:

1. Establish the earth conductor connection to the earth conductor connection screw.

2. Make the electrical connection to the terminals. The two terminals marked "DA, DA" are for digital control. If these are not connected, the luminaire operates at full light output.

3. Insert the connection terminals into the luminaire housing.

Attaching the Luminaire Housing:

1. Position the luminaire housing at a flat inclination angle over the fastening edge of the mounting plate and swing it into place.

2. Align the luminaire housing and tighten the hexagon socket screw (SW 1.5 mm) to a maximum of 0.25 Nm.

Note on Wall Accentuation: For additional coloured wall accentuation, arched wall panels made of metal are optionally available (sold separately).

Cleaning and Maintenance

Clean the luminaire regularly with solvent-free cleansers to remove dirt.

LED Module Replacement

Note: The designation of the LED module is found on a label inside the luminaire. BEGA replacement modules match the original modules in light colour and output. Replacement can be done by qualified persons using standard tools.

1. Disconnect the system from the power supply.

2. Undo the hexagon socket head screw (SW 1.5 mm) and remove the luminaire from the mounting plate.

3. Remove connecting lines from terminals and place the luminaire front-down on a soft surface.

4. Open the luminaire housing: Loosen the two outer Torx screws (T20), then the four inner Torx screws (T20).

5. Disconnect the luminaire cable wires from the 4 terminals and remove the terminals.

6. Apply pressure to the four snap-in hooks of the luminaire housing using a suitable tool (or thumb and forefinger) until the housing base releases.

7. Remove the LED module with the diffuser from its holder. Install the replacement module, following its specific instructions.

8. Close the luminaire housing: Place the lower housing part onto the snap-in hooks of the upper part and snap it into place. Tighten the four inner Torx screws (T20, max. 1.2 Nm) first, then the two outer Torx screws (T20, max. 0.35 Nm).

9. Re-attach terminals to the luminaire cable wires.

10. Make the electrical connection to the terminals, ensuring correct wire assignment: live conductor to brown wire (L), neutral conductor to blue wire (N).

11. Re-attach the luminaire to the mounting plate and tighten the hexagon socket screw (SW 1.5 mm, max. 0.25 Nm).

Note: A defective LED module (silicone diffuser) must be replaced.
