Connecting and Operating Portable Devices

Connecting Portable Devices

This guide explains how to connect and operate portable devices with your vehicle's multimedia system. It covers USB drives, iPods, iPhones, iPads, and devices with Bluetooth and HDMI/MHL connectivity.

Caution: When vehicles have rear climate control, disconnect the multimedia unit before folding the center armrest to prevent damage.

Multimedia System Locations

The front multimedia unit is located in the glove compartment of the center console. The rear multimedia unit is located either in the rear of the center console (for vehicles without rear climate control) or behind the folded center armrest (for vehicles with rear climate control).

Important Notes

Bluetooth® Connectivity

Pairing and connecting Bluetooth devices is detailed in the user manual. For a list of compatible Bluetooth devices, visit www.landrover.com. Compatibility is subject to device software version and battery status. The device manufacturer, not the vehicle manufacturer, provides the warranty.

Caution: Disconnect your iPod when leaving the vehicle to prevent battery drain.

Connecting Multiple Devices

You can connect multiple portable multimedia devices simultaneously. Use the touchscreen to switch between connected devices by pressing the iPod, USB, Bluetooth, or HDMI/MHL buttons.

Setting Up and Connecting with the Multimedia Player

  1. Turn on the ignition and ensure the touchscreen is on.
  2. Tap the settings icon ⚙️ on any screen, select 'All Settings' from the SETTINGS menu, then 'Connectivity', and finally 'Bluetooth'.
  3. In the BLUETOOTH SETTINGS screen, select 'Pair New Device'.
  4. The vehicle's Bluetooth system will be discoverable. Search for devices on your portable device. Follow on-screen prompts to confirm pairing, which may involve entering a PIN code.
  5. Once paired, a confirmation message will appear. Return to the previous media source or select 'Source' (Source) to choose your connected device.

File Copying/Importing

The ability to import/copy multimedia files depends on the vehicle's infotainment system specifications and market. Not all systems have an internal hard drive. If no hard drive is present, import/copy functionality is unavailable. Multimedia data can be imported from USB drives via the MEDIA PLAYER SETTINGS screen.

Operating the Multimedia Video Player

Use the touchscreen controls to manage playback of music and video files from connected devices. Some functions may not be available depending on device compatibility.

Attention: Drivers should not be distracted by the touchscreen while driving. Prolonged exposure to loud sounds (over 85 decibels) can affect hearing.

Supported Video Formats

The system supports MPEG2 (.avi, .mpg), WMV9 (.wmv), and H.264 (.mp4, .avi, .mkv, .mov) formats. Other formats may play but without guaranteed quality.

Notes on Video Playback:

Video Playback Controls

The following controls are available on the touchscreen:

Video Playback Restrictions

Video playback on the touchscreen is automatically blocked while the vehicle is in motion for safety reasons.

Full-Screen Mode

In full-screen mode, use the search controls as usual.
