Controls for Portable Devices

The Land Rover audio system allows for the control and playback of various portable devices. It is crucial to avoid operating these controls while driving to prevent distractions that could lead to accidents. Prolonged exposure to loud sounds (over 85 decibels) can also negatively affect hearing.

Refer to section 162 for detailed information on the audio/video system controls.

My music (My Music) supports CD, iPod, USB, AUX, and Bluetooth devices. The system may also feature a "Stored CD" function.

  1. My music +: Tap this symbol to display all available options. Select your desired option.

Note: The sound quality and volume for devices connected via the auxiliary input may vary significantly.

  2. Displays information about the current track, including playback progress. Some information may also be shown on the instrument cluster. This feature is only available for devices that support ID3 tags.

  3. Settings: Use this to enable or disable traffic announcements and news bulletins. For MP3-compatible devices, you can select the number of tracks to skip when navigating through the list using the arrow buttons.

  4. Track list: View the track list for the current CD or stored CD. Tap a track name to begin playback.

  5. Browse (for iPod, USB, and "Stored CD"): Browse the contents of your connected device. The display of contents depends on the file structure. Select a file to play. The browse window will remain open. Select a folder to view its contents. Return to the main menu by pressing the 'back' soft key.

Note: If an iPhone is connected via USB for audio playback or charging, Bluetooth audio playback will be disabled.

  6. Upload (for "Stored CD" only): Browse and manage CDs in the CD storage. To upload a CD to the storage, press Upload next to an empty slot. Up to 10 slots are available. If the CD storage is full, select Replace to overwrite an existing disc. A confirmation window will appear; press Yes to continue. Upload time depends on content type, and a progress counter is displayed. Other functions can be accessed during upload.

  7. Skip/Fast Forward: Tap to advance to the next track. Press and hold to fast forward through the current track. Playback resumes when the soft key is released.

  8. Repeat:

    • CD Mode: Tap to repeat the current track (Repeat track). Tap again to repeat the entire CD or MP3 folder (Repeat disc/folder). Tap a third time to cancel repeat mode. The Repeat mode is cancelled if Shuffle is activated, but Repeat track can be selected during Shuffle playback.
    • USB or iPod Mode: Tap to repeat the current track. Tap again to repeat the current folder (USB) or playlist (iPod). Tap again to cancel repeat mode for USB. Repeat mode is not available for Bluetooth devices.
  9. Pause/Play: Tap to pause playback. Tap again to resume.

  10. Information: Displays additional information about the current track.

  11. Shuffle (Random Playback): Tap to play tracks randomly from the current CD, MP3 folder, USB folder, or iPod playlist. The display will show "Shuffle". Tap again to play all tracks randomly across all CDs, MP3s, USB folders, or iPod playlists (Shuffle all). Tap again to cancel random playback. Shuffle mode is not available for Bluetooth devices.

  12. Skip/Rewind:

    • Tap within three seconds of starting a track to go to the previous track.
    • Tap after three seconds to return to the beginning of the current track.
    • Press and hold to rewind the current track. Playback resumes when the soft key is released.

Connecting Portable Devices

Portable devices connect to the system via ports located in the glove compartment or the rear of the center console. Supported devices include:

Note: Devices connected via the auxiliary input cannot be controlled via the touchscreen.

When connecting iPod, USB, or Bluetooth devices, control and searching can be done via the touchscreen. Many controls are similar to CD playback controls.

Important: Disconnect your iPod when exiting the vehicle to prevent battery drain.

The audio system supports MP3, WMA, and AAC file formats. For optimal quality, lossless compression is recommended for USB and iPod files, with a bitrate of at least 192 kbps.

Note: iPod® is a trademark of Apple Computer, Inc.

Some MP3 players may require being set to USB Mass Storage or Large Capacity Storage mode for compatibility. Check your device's manual.

A list of compatible Bluetooth devices can be found at www.landrover.com. Land Rover does not provide warranty for connected devices; this is handled by the device manufacturer.

Connecting Devices:

  1. Read the device manufacturer's instructions before connecting. Ensure the device is suitable and all connection procedures are followed to avoid damage to the audio system or the device.
  2. Connect the device to the appropriate port:
    1. USB ports
    2. iPod port
    3. 3.5 mm AUX audio input
    4. Rear multimedia system USB/iPod ports
    5. Rear multimedia system AV ports

Only audio devices can be connected to USB ports. Use the cable supplied with your device for USB connections.

Note: USB hubs are not supported for connecting multiple USB devices.

Note: USB and iPod ports charge connected devices. If a device is fully discharged, playback may not be available.

Note: Repeat and Shuffle functions apply only to the current device and must be reactivated after switching devices.

The 3.5 mm AUX input allows connection of external equipment like personal stereos or MP3 players.

iPod can also be connected via the AUX input.

Vehicles with rear multimedia systems have additional audio/video jacks for connecting equipment like game consoles to rear DVD screens. Consult the manufacturer's instructions.

Playing from a Portable Device

With USB drives or compatible iPods, you can control playback using the touchscreen. Bluetooth devices can also be controlled via the touchscreen, though some functions may be limited. Devices connected via the AUX input must be controlled directly from the device itself.

Land Rover does not recommend using external hard drives with USB interfaces while driving, as they are not designed for automotive use and may be damaged.

Connecting Multiple Devices

USB ports are for audio devices only.

You can connect multiple devices to the interface and switch between them using the touchscreen. Use the iPod, USB, Bluetooth, or AUX buttons to switch modes. The first connected device remains active until you switch to another. Returning to a previously connected device will resume playback from where it left off (for USB and iPod only).

Note: USB hubs are not permitted.

Note: Devices connected to iPod and USB ports are charged, but playback is not possible if the device is fully discharged.

Note: Repeat and Shuffle functions are device-specific and need to be reactivated after switching devices.

Pairing and Connecting via the Touchscreen

For more information on Bluetooth®, see page 193, "Information on the Bluetooth® System".

  1. Enable the Bluetooth function on your device and ensure it is discoverable (refer to your device's manual).
  2. Turn on the ignition and ensure the touchscreen is active.
  3. In the main menu, select Audio/Video, then My Music.
  4. Tap Bluetooth.
  5. In the menu, select Change device.
  6. Select Vehicle to device.
  7. Search for the vehicle's Bluetooth system on your portable device. This may be called "pairing a new device" on some devices.
  8. Follow the on-screen prompts. When prompted, press Yes to confirm pairing.
  9. You may be asked to enter a PIN. Enter your chosen PIN and press OK. Enter the same PIN on the other device.
  10. After pairing and connecting, a confirmation message will appear before returning to the My Music screen.

Note: Some portable devices may not connect automatically and may require manual connection via the device or the "Change device" function.

Note: Bluetooth device search can take time. It is recommended to disable the auto-return-to-home-menu function in the Set-up menu (Screen, Time out home) before searching for Bluetooth devices.

Loss of Connection

If the connection between the car system and a Bluetooth® device is lost, a pop-up window will appear. Select Reconnect to automatically restore the connection. A confirmation window will appear first, then the touchscreen will return to the previous screen.

Changing or Disconnecting Devices

  1. Select Change device from the menu.
  2. Select Disconnect. A confirmation window will appear, allowing you to use the "Search new" option or select another paired device.
