Important Safety Information
ATTENTION: Read the safety instructions carefully before using the product for the first time and keep them for future reference. Read all safety information before using this Frameo.
- This product is not a toy. Keep out of reach of children. Use by children must always be with adult supervision.
- Keep the product out of reach of pets.
- Do not attempt to open the Frameo! The device may contain parts with potentially lethal voltage.
- Do not expose to heat sources, water, humidity, or direct sunlight!
- Only charge with the original power adapter supplied with the product!
- Repairs or maintenance must only be performed by qualified personnel.
- To reduce the risk of fire or electric shock, do not expose this appliance to rain or moisture. The appliance must not be exposed to dripping or splashing, and no objects filled with liquids (e.g., a vase) should be placed on the appliance.
- The direct plug-in adapter is used as the disconnect device and shall remain readily operable. Therefore, ensure there is sufficient space around the power outlet for easy access.
- The operating and storage temperature of the product is between -10°C and 40°C. A lower or higher temperature may compromise its operation.
Hardware Overview

- 1. Power: Press and hold the power button for approximately 5 seconds until the screen turns on. To restart or access the power menu, press and hold for approximately 3 seconds. A brief press activates/deactivates the screen (the frame remains active).
- 2. Type-c: For connecting a USB drive. This USB port is for service purposes only.
- 3. USB: Insert a USB flash drive here to import images.
- 4. microSD card: Insert a microSD memory card (max 128GB).
- 5. DC: Connect the DC adapter to power the device.
- 6. Audio Jack: For audio output.
Getting Started
Congratulations on your new Frameo photo frame! If you are new to Frameo, start by following the quick setup guide or the on-screen guide when you first turn it on. Once the Frameo frame is set up, you can start connecting friends and family.
App Frameo
To send photos to your frame, use the Frameo app for iOS or Android.
Find the Frameo app by scanning this code: [QR Code]
- Android: Search 'Frameo' on Google Play.
- iOS: Search 'Frameo' on App Store.
Quick Setup
When the frame starts for the first time, it will need to be configured. The following steps will guide you:
- Select a language. This will be the language used on Frameo.
- Connect your frame to the internet by connecting to Wi-Fi.
- Verify or correct the date and time.
- Frameo may ask to update to the latest version. It is recommended to update your frame before continuing if requested.
- Enter your name and the position where you want to place your frame (e.g., 'Living Room', 'Kitchen', or 'Office'). Finally, set the time zone if it is not already correct.
Start Using Frameo
Connect a Friend
The next step is to connect Frameo with your friends and family by providing a code from your frame. If you want to be able to send photos to your frame, start by downloading the app for iOS or Android from the App Store or Google Play. Then use the code to connect your frame and the app as described below.
Make sure your friend has downloaded and installed the Frameo app. Click the add friend icon ➕? on your frame. A dialog box will appear showing a connection code, which is valid for 12 hours. Share this code with your friend in your preferred way, e.g., SMS, email, IM, or phone call. Once friends have added the code in their Frameo app, they will appear automatically on your frame and can send photos. Read the 'Modify options for a friend' chapter to allow connected friends to retrieve and share the connection code via the smartphone app.
Frameo Navigation
Swipe left or right to browse photos. To access the menu, simply tap the screen once.
The menu contains the most used functionalities:
- Add friend: Generates a code to share with friends and family so they can connect and send photos to your frame.
- Settings: Opens the Settings menu.
- Power Menu: Opens the power menu.
- Reaction: Opens the Reaction menu. You can also access the Reaction menu by double-tapping the screen.
- Hide photo: Hides the current photo, meaning it will not be shown in the slideshow. Photos can be shown again via the settings menu.
- Gallery: Opens a gallery for easy and quick navigation through your photos.
- Fit to frame/Fill frame: Switches how the photo is displayed.
Photo Display and Video Controls
Fill Frame vs. Fit to Frame
The 'Fill frame' option is the default setting, adjusting the photo to fill the entire screen, centered on the most important part. The 'Fit to frame' option ensures the entire photo is shown on the screen, possibly with blurred bars on the sides or top/bottom.
Adjust Photo
Allows you to adjust the photo's position in the frame for better fitting. You can use [rotate icon] to rotate the photo and [caption icon] to edit the caption of imported photos. For received photos, ask the sender to edit the caption in the Frameo app.
Interacting with Videos
When watching a video, two additional controls are displayed: one to play/pause the video and another to adjust the video volume level.
- Press ▶️ to start video playback. Pressing ⏸️ will pause video playback.
- Press ? to open the volume slider. Use the slider to adjust the video volume level. Press ? to mute the video audio and press ? to unmute.
Menus and Features
Power Menu
Tap the power icon ? to access the power menu. From here you can turn off the frame using ?, restart it using ?, or put it in sleep mode using ?. NB: Always ensure you use the power button on the device or the power menu to turn off Frameo. Never disconnect the power when Frameo is running.
Reaction Menu
Tap one of the reactions to let the sender know what emotions you felt: ❤️ ? ? ?
External Memory Menu
By inserting external memory (e.g., a microSD card), a menu with three options will automatically appear: press ▶️ to play photos directly from external memory, press ⬇️ to import photos to the frame's internal memory, or press ? to perform a backup of the frame.
Clock and Weather Widget
The current time and weather will appear in the top right corner of the frame when it has received at least one photo. Tapping a photo will open the weather menu.
Weather Menu
The weather menu contains more detailed weather forecasts and provides shortcuts to weather-related settings.
Settings
Through settings, you can customize your frame according to your needs.
My Frame
- Name: Change your frame's name. This is also the name friends and family will see in their list of connected frames in the smartphone app.
- Position: Change your frame's position. This is the position displayed in the list of connected frames, helping to distinguish frames from each other.
- Language: Set the language used by the frame.
- Date: Set the date used by the frame.
- Time: Set the time used by the frame. The Frameo frame attempts to automatically set the date and time when connected to the internet.
- Timezone: Set the time zone used by the frame.
- 24-hour format: Enable or disable the 24-hour time format.
Manage Photos
- Show/Hide photos: Select which photos to hide by tapping them. Hidden photos are not deleted and can be shown again. Use [show/hide all icon] to hide or show all photos.
- Delete photos: Select photos to permanently delete them by tapping the photo. Use [select/deselect all icon] to select or deselect all photos and [delete icon] to permanently delete selected photos.
- Import photos: You can always import all photos from external memory (e.g., microSD card). Before importing, ensure you have external memory inserted with the photos you wish to import. Select the photos you want to import to your frame. Once selected, tap the import button [import icon] to start the import process. Use [select/deselect all icon] to select or deselect all photos on the external memory. Use [sort icon] to set the organization order of photos before importing and for ascending/descending order.
- Transfer from computer: Transfer photos from a computer using a USB cable. Enable the function and follow the on-screen guide for detailed instructions. For more information, visit the support center: https://frameo.net/usb faq
- Export photos: Export photos from the frame to external memory (e.g., microSD card). The export function will export all photos on the frame as well as profile images.
My Friends
- This list contains all connected friends who are allowed to send photos to the frame.
- Modify options for a friend: Click the options icon [options icon] to open the friend options menu. Here you can allow/disallow a friend to share the code with the frame. If enabled, the friend can retrieve and share the code to the frame from their app. From the options menu, you can also delete a friend by pressing the DELETE FRIEND button. This will remove the friend from the list and revoke their permission to send photos to the frame. You will then be asked to confirm the removal and, if desired, remove all previously received photos from this friend.
- Add person: To allow a new person to send photos, simply tap the Add friend button ➕? and share the presented code in your preferred way.
Screen
- Brightness: Adjust the screen brightness level.
- Sleep mode: Frameo offers a sleep mode that turns off the screen to reduce energy consumption. The default setting is to turn off the screen at 23:00 and turn it on again at 07:00. You can change this by setting the start/end time for sleep mode. Your frame is not turned off or in standby, so you can still receive photos during sleep mode.
Slideshow
- Timer: Set the display duration of a photo before the next photo is shown.
- Show caption: Set whether to display captions that friends have sent with the photo. Select to display captions. Deselect to hide captions.
Frame Settings
- Fill frame: Set the default photo display setting to fill the frame based on the most important part of the photo. Deselect to fit the photo to the screen, adding blurred bars on the sides or top/bottom.
- Frame Background: Choose from different frame background options to display as bars if the photo does not fill the screen.
- Photo Display Order: Set the order in which photos are displayed on the frame:
- By date taken: Photos are ordered and displayed by their capture date.
- By date received: Photos are ordered and displayed by their received date.
- Shuffled: Photos are mixed and shown in random order.
- View photos in reverse order: This option determines whether photos are shown in reverse chronological order or not.
- Auto-play: Enable/disable automatic video playback in the slideshow. Videos can always be started manually regardless of this setting.
- Video Playback: Determines how videos should be played when auto-play is enabled:
- Cycle video: Videos will play cyclically until the slideshow timer is reached.
- Play once: The video will play once and show the thumbnail until the timer is active.
- Play once and continue: The video will play once and continue to the next photo or video once completed.
- Auto-mute function: Enable to automatically disable video volume after a short period of inactivity with the frame.
- Video volume: Adjust the volume level for video sounds on the frames.
Wi-Fi
- Set which Wi-Fi the video should connect to. If you are connected to a network with a captive portal, the connection status will inform you of the need to log in to Wi-Fi and display the icon. Tap the icon to open the login screen, where you can enter the network access credentials.
- Wi-Fi Details: Use [Wi-Fi icon] to view details of the Wi-Fi network you are connected to.
- Wi-Fi Reset: Use [reset icon] to remove all Wi-Fi related information and restart the frame.
Notifications
- Show notifications: Enable/disable the display of notifications in the slideshow (e.g., when a new photo is received).
- Notification volume: Adjust the audio volume of notifications.
- Storage space: Enable/disable the display of notifications related to the frame's storage space.
- Backup: Enable/disable the display of notifications related to failed automatic backups.
- Network connection: Enable/disable the display of notifications related to network connection status.
- New photos: Enable/disable the display of notifications related to receiving new photos.
- New friends: Enable/disable the display of notifications related to adding new friends.
- Software update: Enable/disable the display of notifications related to software update installations.
- New features: Enable/disable the display of notifications related to adding new features.
- Date and time: Enable/disable notifications when the date or time are not set correctly.
Backup and Restore
- Backup frame to external storage (e.g., microSD card): Tap to back up your photos, friends, and settings. The time of the last successful backup is also displayed here. Any existing backup on the external memory will be overwritten!
- Automatic backup: If checked, your frame will automatically perform a backup approximately every 30 hours of receiving new photos or making changes to your frame.
- Restore from backup: Before attempting to restore your frame, verify that your backup is up to date. If the last backup is too old or no backup has been made, press the 'Backup frame to external storage' button to make a new backup. NB: To keep both the old and new frames operational after restoring from backup, ensure both frames are updated to the latest version. If you wish to restore a backup to a frame that has already been configured, you must first reset the frame by pressing the 'Reset frame' button. This will erase all data on Frameo and restore Frameo to its configuration screen. On the configuration screen, select the 'Restore from backup' button to restore your frame according to the backup. If the 'Restore from backup' button is not visible, ensure the external memory (e.g., microSD card) is inserted correctly.
- Reset frame: Removes all data from your frame. This will permanently remove all photos, friends/connections, and settings.
Help
- Open source libraries: Opens a list of open source libraries used in the app and their licenses.
- Share anonymous analytics: Anonymous analytics sharing helps improve the Frameo software. We understand if you do not wish to share this data. Keep selected if you wish to help improve Frameo. Deselect to deny sharing of anonymous analytics data.
- Help: Opens the quick guide that was shown when the frame was first started.
Information
- Android Version: Verify the Android version installed on the frame.
- ID Peer: This is a unique ID that identifies your frame. When contacting technical support, include this ID in your message.
- MAC: Shows the frame's MAC address.
- Frameo Version: Shows the version of Frameo software installed on the frame.
- Uptime: Shows how long the frame has been powered on.
- Update Check: Check if an update is available for your frame.
- Beta Program: If selected, the device will join the Beta program and receive updates more frequently and sooner than normal release devices.
