- This product is not a toy. Keep it out of reach of children. If operated by children, adult supervision is always required.
- Keep the product away from pets.
- Lithium Battery Warning: This Frameo product contains a lithium battery. Please follow these guidelines:
- Do not attempt to open the Frameo product. The device may contain parts with deadly voltage.
- Do not expose to heat, water, moisture, or direct sunlight.
- Only charge with the original adapter supplied with this product.
- Do not attempt to replace the inside battery yourself, as this may damage the battery, causing overheating and injury. The lithium battery should only be replaced by a skilled engineer. It must be recycled or disposed of separately from household waste. Do not incinerate the battery.
- Repairs or service should only be performed by qualified personnel.
- To reduce the risk of fire or electric shock, do not expose this apparatus to rain or moisture. The apparatus shall not be exposed to dripping or splashing, and objects filled with liquids, such as vases, shall not be placed on the apparatus.
- The direct plug-in adapter is used as the disconnect device; it shall remain readily operable. Ensure there is space around the power outlet for easy access.
- Product operating and storage temperature is from -10 degrees Celsius to 40 degrees Celsius. Temperatures outside this range may affect function.
Device Overview
The back of the device features the following ports and slots:
- 1. POWER: Press and hold the power button for approximately 5 seconds (until the screen turns on) after connecting the power adapter. To access the reboot or power off menu, press and hold the power button for approximately 3 seconds when the device is on. A short press turns the screen off/on but leaves the photo frame in an 'on' state.
- 2. USB: Connect a USB flash drive. This port is for service use only.
- 3. RESET: Use a needle or paper clip to reset the unit.
- 4. MicroSD card: Load external microSD memory cards (max 32GB) here.
- 5. DC: Connect the DC adapter to power on the device.
There is also a mechanism for attaching a rack, indicated by a 'SLIDE TO PUSH ON/TAKE OFF THE RACK' instruction.

Getting Started
Congratulations on your new Frameo photo frame! If you are new to Frameo, start by following the quick setup guide or the on-screen guide when powering it on for the first time. Once set up, you can connect with friends and family.
Frameo App
To send photos to your frame, use the Frameo app for iOS or Android. Find the Frameo app by scanning the QR code provided in the manual. For Android, search for "Frameo" on Google Play. For iOS, search for "Frameo" on the App Store.
Frameo Quick Setup
When starting your frame for the first time, you will need to complete the setup:
- Select a language. This will be the language used on the Frameo.
- Connect your frame to the internet by connecting it to a Wi-Fi network.
- Frameo may ask you to update to the latest version. It is recommended to update your frame before continuing.
- Enter your name and the location where you have placed your frame (e.g., "Living room", "Kitchen", or "Office"). Finally, set the timezone if it is not already correct.
Start Using Frameo
Connect Frameo with your friends and family by providing them with a code from your frame. To send photos to the frame yourself, download the Frameo app for iOS or Android from the App Store or Google Play, then use the code to connect your frame and app.
Connecting a New Friend
Ensure your friend has downloaded and installed the Frameo app. Click the add friend icon ➕ on your frame. A dialog will appear showing a connection code, valid for 12 hours. Share this code with your friend via SMS, E-Mail, IM, or phone call. Once your friends add the code in their Frameo app, they will appear on your frame and be able to send you photos.
Refer to the "Change options for a friend" chapter to allow connected friends to retrieve and share the connection code via the smartphone app.
Navigating Your Frameo
Swipe left or right to go through your photos. Tap the screen once to access the menu.
The menu provides access to the most used features:
- Add friend ➕: Generates a code to share with friends and family for them to connect and send photos.
- Settings ⚙️: Opens the settings menu.
- Power menu ⏻: Opens the power menu.
- Hide photo ?️: Hides the current photo from the slideshow. Hidden photos can be shown again via the settings menu.
- Gallery ?️: Opens a gallery for easy and fast navigation through your photos.
- Fit to frame/Fill frame: Toggles how the photo is displayed. 'Fill frame' scales the photo to fill the screen, centering on the most important part. 'Fit to frame' ensures the entire photo is shown, potentially adding blurred bars.
Adjust Photo
Allows adjustment of the photo's position for a better fit and rotation ?.
Interacting with Videos
When a video is shown, additional controls appear:
- Press ▶️ to start video playback. Pressing ⏸️ pauses playback.
- Press ? to open the volume slider for video sounds. Pressing ? mutes the video while pressing ? unmutes it.
Power Menu
Tap the power icon ⏻ to access the power menu. From here, you can power off ⏻, restart ?, or enter sleep mode ?.
Important: Always use the power off button on the device or in the power menu to turn Frameo off. Never disconnect power while Frameo is running.
Settings
Customize your frame through the settings menu:
My frame
- Frame name: Changes the name of your frame, which is visible to connected friends and family in their app.
- Frame location: Sets the location of your frame (e.g., "Living room"), helping to distinguish it from others in friends' and family's lists.
- Set language: Sets the language used on the frame.
- Set time zone: Sets the time zone used on the frame.
- Enable/Disable 24-hour format: Toggles the 24-hour time format.
Manage Photos
In the manage photos menu, you can see the number of photos on your frame, the storage they use, and the remaining storage space.
Show/hide photos
Select photos to hide by tapping them. Hidden photos are not deleted and can be shown again later. Use the hide/show all photos icon ?️.
Delete photos
Select photos to permanently delete by tapping them. Use the select/deselect all icon and the delete icon ?️ to permanently delete selected photos.
Import photos
Import photos from external storage (e.g., microSD card). Ensure the storage is inserted before starting. Select photos and tap the import button ⬇️ to begin. Use the select/deselect all icon and the sort order icon ⬆️ to arrange photos before import. Captions or defining the most important part of a photo during import is not currently supported; this can be done by adding yourself to your friend list and sending photos via the app.
Export photos
Export photos from the frame to external storage (e.g., microSD card). This function exports all photos on the frame, including profile pictures.
My Friends
This list displays all connected friends who are allowed to send photos to your frame.
Change options for a friend
Click the options icon ⚙️ to open the friend options menu. Here you can allow/disallow a friend to share the frame's connection code. If enabled, the friend can retrieve and share the code from their app. You can also delete a friend by pressing the "DELETE FRIEND" button, which removes their permission to send photos and optionally removes all previously received photos from them.
Add person
To allow a new person to send photos, tap the add friend icon ➕ and share the presented code.
Display
- Brightness level: Adjust the screen brightness.
Sleep mode
Frameo offers a sleep mode that turns off the screen to reduce power consumption. The default setting turns the screen off at 23:00 and on at 07:00. You can change these times. The frame is not powered down or in standby during sleep mode, so photos can still be received.
Slideshow
- Timer: Set the duration each photo is displayed before the next one appears.
Slideshow Settings
- Show caption: Enable or disable the display of captions sent with photos.
- Fill frame: Sets the default photo display mode. 'Fill' scales photos to fit the screen based on the most important part. Unchecking this option fits the entire photo within the screen, potentially adding blurred bars.
- Photo display order: Sets the order of photos. Options include 'By date' (newest to latest) or 'Shuffle' (random order).
- Autoplay: Enables/disables automatic playback of videos in the slideshow. Videos can always be manually started.
- Video playback: Determines how videos play when autoplay is enabled:
- Loop videos: The video loops until the slideshow timer is up.
- Play once: The video plays once and shows its thumbnail until the timer is up.
- Play once and continue: The video plays once and then proceeds to the next photo or video.
- Video volume: Adjust the volume level for video sounds.
Wi-Fi
Select the Wi-Fi network your frame connects to. If connecting to a network with a captive portal, the connection status will indicate "Wi-Fi login is required" and show an icon ?. Tap this to open a login screen where you can enter credentials.
- Wi-Fi details ℹ️: Shows details about the current connected Wi-Fi.
- Reset Wi-Fi ?: Deletes all Wi-Fi information and restarts your frame.
Notifications
Configure notification settings:
- Show notifications: Enables/disables notifications shown in the slideshow (e.g., when a new photo is received).
- Notification volume: Adjust the volume level for notification sounds.
- Storage space: Enables/disables notifications when frame storage is low.
- Backup: Enables/disables notifications if automatic backup has failed.
- Network connection: Enables/disables notifications showing network connection status.
- New photos: Enables/disables notifications shown when receiving new photos.
- New friends: Enables/disables notifications shown when new friends are added.
- Software update: Enables/disables notifications shown when a software update has been installed.
- Feature news: Enables/disables notifications shown when new features are added.
Backup and Restore
Backup frame to external storage (e.g., microSD card)
Tap to make a backup of your photos, friends, and settings. The time of the latest successful backup is displayed. Any existing backup on the external storage will be overridden!
Automatic backup
If checked, your frame will automatically take a backup within 30 hours of receiving new photos or making changes.
Restore from backup
Before attempting to restore, confirm your backup is up-to-date by checking the date under "Backup frame to external storage (e.g., microSD card)". If the last backup is too old or no backup exists, press the "Backup frame to external storage (e.g., microSD card)" button to create a new backup.
NB: To keep both the old and new frame operational simultaneously after restoring, ensure both frames are updated to the latest version beforehand.
If you wish to restore a backup on a frame that has already been set up, you must first reset the frame by pressing the "Reset frame" button. This deletes all data and resets Frameo to its setup screen. On the setup screen, select the "Restore from backup" button. If this button is not visible, confirm that the external storage (e.g., microSD card) is correctly mounted.
Reset frame
Removes all data from your frame, including photos, friends/connections, and settings. This action is permanent.
Help
- Open source libraries: Opens a list of open source libraries used in the app and their licenses.
- Share anonymous analytics data: Sharing this data helps improve Frameo software. You can choose to opt-out by unchecking this option.
- Guide: Opens the quick start guide shown when the frame was first started.
About
- Android version: Shows the version of Android installed on the frame.
- Peer ID: A unique ID for your photo frame. Provide this ID when contacting support.
- MAC: Shows the MAC address of your frame.
- Frameo version: Shows the current Frameo software version installed.
- Up time: Shows how long the photo frame has been powered on.
- Check for update: Checks if an update is available for your frame.
- Beta program: If checked, the device will join the Beta program for more frequent updates.
