Kingston Brass
Widespread Lavatory Faucet Installation and Maintenance
Care and Maintenance of Your Faucet
Your Kingston faucet has been finished to the most strict standards; however, due to the high content of minerals in the water, your finish may appear dull and tarnished after time. These are some do's and don'ts to maintain the luster on your faucet for many years to come.
DO
- Use a silicon-based caulking when installing.
- Clean your faucet with only a mild soap and water solution.
- Dry your faucet after using it.
- Give it a coat of Carnauba Wax periodically.
DON'T
- Use plumbers putty when installing the faucet.
- Use any abrasive cleaning agents.
It may seem like a very simple and short list but it is that simple to maintain your faucet, looking shiny and new.
If your faucet is already looking somewhat dull and tarnished, before replacing it, try cleaning it with a 50/50 solution of vinegar and water. You may need to soak some rags and wrap around those stubborn areas, leave overnight and rinse completely in the morning. Apply Carnauba wax once you have removed the mineral deposits.

Installation Steps
Step 1: Prepare Spout
Remove the tee connector and spout mounting hardware from the spout.
Step 2: Prepare Sink Hole
Sparingly apply a small bead of silicone caulking around the center hole on top of the sink. Do not use Plumber's Putty, as it may damage the finish and void the warranty.
Step 3: Install Spout and Pop-up Rod
From the top of the sink, insert the spout base ring (if applicable) and spout through the center hole. Slip the spout mounting hardware back onto the spout and hand-tighten the lock nut. Insert the pop-up rod through the hole in the back or top of the spout. Rotate the metal washer to ensure smooth movement of the pop-up rod. Tighten the brass lock nut. Test the pop-up rod for ease of operation.
Step 4: Connect Tee Connector
Place the tee connector washer and thread the tee connector onto the spout shank. Warning: Make sure the installation of the tee with the spout shank is tight. Do not turn the tee backward, otherwise, it will become loose and cause leakage.
Step 5: Install Valve Assemblies
Hot and Cold Stem assemblies are easily identifiable by a Red (Hot) or Blue (Cold) band. Insert the stem assembly through the side holes from below, making sure to have the bottom nut and metal washer threaded onto the stem assembly.
Step 6: Install Trim and Escutcheon
While holding from under the sink, install the trim ring and thread the escutcheon onto the stem assembly. Adjust to a suitable height to allow sufficient space for the handle to operate smoothly. Tighten the bottom nut. Please make sure to align the direction of the lever handles before tightening the stem.
Step 7: Attach Flexible Hoses
Attach flexible hoses to the outlet port of the hot and cold valve assembly. You may need to loop the hoses as shown in the graphic and be careful not to overtighten.
Step 8: Install Supply Lines
Apply Teflon tape on all male threading and install inlet supply lines (not included) to the bottom inlet port of the hot and cold valve assembly.
Step 9: Install Pop-up Assembly
Install the pop-up assembly as per instructions below. Install the flange body up through the drain opening. Hold the drain flange body in position with the pivot rod opening facing the back of the sink and hand-tighten the mounting nut.
Step 10: Install Pivot Rod
Place the pivot rod into the pivot rod opening. Slide the pivot nut over the pivot rod and thread it onto the drain body. Tighten firmly.
Step 11: Connect Lift Rod
Guide the pivot rod through one of the holes on the lift rod strap and secure it with the spring clip. Then, adjust the height of the lift rod by resetting the clevis screw. With the lift rod in position on the faucet, insert the lift rod through the lift rod strap and secure it with the clevis screw.
Step 12: Flush and Test
Remove the aerator. Turn on the faucet and let water run for at least one minute to clear any debris left in the line. Reinstall the aerator.
Warning!!!
- Do not over-tighten nuts during installation.
- Over-tightening may crack the valve and cause severe leaks.
