Care and Maintenance
To maintain the luster of your Kingston faucet, follow these recommendations:
DO
- Use a silicone-based caulking when installing.
- Clean the faucet with only a mild soap and water solution.
- Dry the faucet after using it.
- Apply a coat of Carnauba Wax periodically.
DON'T
- Use plumber's putty when installing the faucet, as it may damage the finish and void the warranty.
- Use any abrasive cleaning agents.
For faucets showing dullness or tarnish, try a 50/50 solution of vinegar and water. Soak rags in the solution and wrap them around stubborn areas overnight. Rinse thoroughly in the morning and apply Carnauba wax after removing mineral deposits.
Installation Instructions
Follow these steps for the installation of your Widespread Lavatory Faucet.
Before Beginning Installation
- Flush plumbing lines to clear any debris.
- Shut off both supply lines after flushing.
Tools Required
The following tools may be needed for installation:
- Basin Wrench
- Adjustable Wrench
- Teflon Tape
- Silicone Sealant
- Screwdriver
Installation Steps
-
Step 1: Spout Preparation
Remove the tee connector and spout mounting hardware from the spout.
-
Step 2: Sink Preparation
Sparingly apply a small bead of silicone caulking around the center hole on top of the sink. Avoid using Plumber's Putty, as it may damage the finish and void the warranty.
-
Step 3: Spout Installation
From the top of the sink, insert the spout base ring (if applicable) and spout through the center hole. Slide the spout mounting hardware back onto the spout and hand-tighten the lock nut. Insert the pop-up rod through the hole in the back or top of the spout. Rotate the metal washer to ensure smooth movement of the pop-up rod. Tighten the brass lock nut and test the pop-up rod for ease of operation.
-
Step 4: Tee Connector Installation
Place the tee connector washer and thread the tee connector onto the spout shank. Warning: Ensure the tee connector is tightly installed with the spout shank. Do not turn the tee backward, as this may loosen it and cause leakage.
-
Step 5: Stem Assembly Installation
Hot and Cold Stem assemblies are identifiable by a Red (Hot) or Blue (Cold) band. Insert the stem assembly through the side holes from below, ensuring the bottom nut and metal washer are threaded onto the stem assembly.
-
Step 6: Trim and Escutcheon Installation
While holding from under the sink, install the trim ring and thread the escutcheon onto the stem assembly. Adjust to a suitable height to allow sufficient space for the handle to operate smoothly. Tighten the bottom nut. Ensure the direction of the lever handles is aligned before tightening the stem.
-
Step 7: Flexible Hose Connection
Attach flexible hoses to the outlet port of the hot and cold valve assembly. You may need to loop the hoses as shown in the diagram and be careful not to overtighten.
-
Step 8: Inlet Supply Line Installation
Apply Teflon tape on all male threading and install inlet supply lines (not included) to the bottom inlet port of the hot and cold valve assembly.
-
Step 9: Pop-Up Assembly Installation (Drain Flange)
Install the pop-up assembly. Insert the drain flange body up through the sink drain opening. Hold the drain flange body in position with the pivot rod opening facing the back of the sink and hand-tighten the mounting nut.
-
Step 10: Pivot Rod Installation
Place the pivot rod into the pivot rod opening. Slide the pivot nut over the pivot rod and thread it onto the drain body. Tighten firmly.
-
Step 11: Lift Rod Connection
Guide the pivot rod through one of the holes on the lift rod strap and secure it with the spring clip. Adjust the height of the lift rod by resetting the clevis screw. With the lift rod in position on the faucet, insert the lift rod through the lift rod strap and secure with the clevis screw.
-
Step 12: Final Flush and Aerator Reinstallation
Remove the aerator. Turn on the faucet and let water run for at least one minute to clear any debris left in the lines. Reinstall the aerator.
Important Warning
⚠️ Warning: Do not over-tighten nuts during installation. Over-tightening may crack the valve and cause severe leaks.
