Care and Maintenance
To maintain the luster of your Kingston faucet for many years, follow these guidelines:
DO:
- ✔️ Use a silicon-based caulking when installing.
- ✔️ Clean the faucet with only a mild soap and water solution.
- ✔️ Dry the faucet after using it.
- ✔️ Apply a coat of Carnauba Wax periodically.
DON'T:
- ❌ Use plumbers putty when installing the faucet, as it may damage the finish and void the warranty.
- ❌ Use any abrasive cleaning agents.
If the faucet appears dull or tarnished, try cleaning it with a 50/50 solution of vinegar and water. For stubborn areas, soak rags in the solution and wrap them around the affected parts overnight. Rinse completely in the morning and apply Carnauba wax after removing any mineral deposits.
Installation Instructions
Before Beginning Installation:
- Flush plumbing lines to clear any debris.
- Shut off both hot and cold water supply lines after flushing.
Tools Required:
- Basin Wrench
- Adjustable Wrench
- Teflon Tape
- Silicone Sealant
- Screwdriver (Phillips head)
Faucet Assembly (with or without Pop-Up):
- Spout Preparation: Remove the tee connector and spout mounting hardware from the spout.
- Sink Preparation: Sparingly apply a small bead of silicone caulking around the center hole on the top of the sink. Do not use Plumber's Putty.
- Spout Installation: From the top of the sink, insert the spout base ring (if applicable) and spout through the center hole. Slip the spout mounting hardware back onto the spout and hand-tighten the lock nut.
- Pop-Up Rod Insertion: Insert the pop-up rod through the designated hole in the back or top of the spout. Rotate the metal washer to ensure smooth movement of the pop-up rod. Tighten the brass lock nut. Test the pop-up rod for ease of operation.
- Tee Connector Attachment: Place the tee connector washer and thread the tee connector onto the spout shank. Ensure this connection is tight; turning the tee backward can loosen it and cause leaks.
- Stem Assembly Installation: Hot and Cold Stem assemblies are identifiable by a Red [red band] or Blue [blue band] indicator. Insert the stem assemblies through the side holes from below, ensuring the bottom nut and metal washer are threaded onto each stem assembly.
- Trim and Escutcheon: While holding from under the sink, install the trim ring and thread the escutcheon onto the stem assembly. Adjust to a suitable height to allow sufficient space for handle operation. Tighten the bottom nut. Align the direction of the lever handles before tightening the stem assembly.
Pop-Up Drain Assembly Installation:
- Hose Connections: Attach flexible hoses to the outlet ports of the hot and cold valve assembly. Looping the hoses as shown in diagrams may be necessary. Be careful not to overtighten.
- Inlet Supply Lines: Apply Teflon tape on all male threading. Install inlet supply lines (not included) to the bottom inlet ports of the hot and cold valve assembly.
- Drain Body Preparation: Thread the mounting nut and bottom gasket onto the drain body. Wrap the threaded end of the drain body with Teflon tape. Apply silicone sealant to the bottom side of the flange.
- Drain Installation: Insert the flange body up through the drain opening, ensuring the pivot rod opening faces the back of the sink. Hold the drain flange body in position and hand-tighten the mounting nut. Clean any excess silicone.
- Pivot Rod Installation: Place the pivot rod into the pivot rod opening. Slide the pivot nut over the pivot rod and thread it onto the drain body. Tighten firmly.
- Lift Rod Connection: Guide the pivot rod through one of the holes on the lift rod strap and secure it with the spring clip. Adjust the lift rod height by resetting the clevis screw. Insert the lift rod through the lift rod strap and secure with the clevis screw.
Final Steps:
- Flush Lines: Remove the aerator. Turn on the faucet and let water run for at least one minute to clear any debris left in the lines. Reinstall the aerator.
Mounting Hardware Installation (Separate Instructions):
These steps detail the installation of the mounting hardware for the valve assembly:
- Unscrew both adjustment screws as much as possible without removing them.
- Thread the lock nut onto the valve assembly and slip on the metal washer.
- Once the valve assembly is secured from the top, hand-tighten the brass lock nut all the way to the top.
- Gently secure the screws to lock the valve assembly in place using only a Phillips head screwdriver. Do not over-tighten, as this may damage the steel washer.
- Do not use any power tools, as this may damage the valve assembly and cause leaking.
? NOTICE: Failure to follow all directions may cause leaks, which may result in water damage.
WARNING!!!
- Do not over-tighten nuts during installation.
- Over-tightening may crack the valve and cause severe leaks.
